Captain Jay recommended a morning cruise as temperatures would start in the 70's rather than the 90's this time of year. We had a fantastic experience! The boat slip is so close to the Beau Rivage and Hard Rock casinos it's only a couple of minutes drive. We saw dolphins on the way out and back in, and were allowed to handle to ship's wheel a good portion of our voyage. Actually, before we stopped, JT had all of the rods baited and ready to drop. That guy could tie a hook on in less than a minute. Kept the fishing area clean and ready all day. He also did a great job of moving us around when we all had fish on the line. I appreciated Capt C-Bo cheering the Ohio boys on, hi-fives and getting excited for them while they were reeling them in. He and JT were really good at coaching the boys on how to get the big ones. JT cleaned and packed the fish for our drive home. We did take one bag to McElroys later that night who cooked them for us, great call C-Bo. If you are taking rookies or veterans, the fishing experience on the SYL is worth every dime.

The "Captain" told us how bad he was feeling when we arrived at the dock. It took an hour to get engines fired up, almost made it to the head pin on the way out but had to turn back for fuel. Captain took us to throw one baited line and a jigged line at three different day markers then we trolled rusty old spoons for remainder of trip. 2 jacks and some Spanish mackerel later we returned to dock. No bottom fishing on wrecks, no site of a oil or gas rig just tourist bull crap boat ride.

We booked a 8 hour trip for July 19th. There was a 80% chance of rain in the forecast. I called…read morethree times that week asking would we have a full day of fishing and each time the answer was yes. I didn't want to drive 3 hours and not have a good time. I would rather rebook. Once we got there we boarded the boat and fueled up. We left about 7 ;15 am. It took us 1 hours to get to a point were we could fish. Captain Brian and Deckhand Jesse talked like we were going to catch some fish. Long story short, we fished for thirty minutes in 10ft of water and it started to sprinkle. Captain said we got bad weather coming and we need to get in. Now there was at least 4 other boats in the same area, that didn't leave. So we headed in and made it back in about 20 minutes. Once we dock he says we owe him $650 of the $850. Now we were on the water for 3 hours top on a 8 hour trip. I told the captain that was not right but he insisted we pay $650. after talking to Donna i Believe, we ended up paying $550, which was still a bit high. I will never use them again. I fish down there at least once a year and this was my worst experience with a charter company. After coming back home I posted it on my Facebook page and a Korean gentleman said he also had a bad experience with this charter.
