I've been a member of this community for 10 years now and from the moment I walked through the doors, I knew I was home. That I drive 40 minutes to get there says a lot. When you walk in, you are greeted with smiles and warm welcomes and made to feel like you belong. The teaching is always upbeat, positive, and practical. Jesus said his reason for coming was "that you might have life and have it more abundantly." Unity empowers you and shows you how to create that abundant life - more love, greater joy, deeper inner peace, more harmonious relationships, better health. This is a spiritual community that also reaches out to others, supporting those in need with time and talent as well as financially. It is not afraid to give, because that's what Love does. And it offers you many different opportunities to step into the flow of giving to further your own spiritual growth. Unity of Bay City offers a wide range of classes and educational programs. From the young children's program to the teen Youth Of Unity (Y.O.U.) to the adult program, Unity of Bay City gently challlenges you along the path. Unity doesn't tell you 'what' to think, but rather teaches you 'how' to think. It has an active social life (they do like to laugh and have fun!) They have hosted concerts by local musicians, had art auctions, held dinners and picnics, and recently started an 'Open Mic' night where community members can come in and play their music or read their poetry. It has a growing musical program under the direction of Heidi LaLonde Bethune. Heidi is a recognized talent who has performed on stage and in concert in many different venues. It's exciting to listen to all the ideas she has for the future of the music program there! Unity of Bay City also has a wonderful metaphysical bookstore called The Spiritual Oasis. It offers some unique gift items, new and classic metaphysical/New Thought books, and music, too. You'll find Heidi's own CD, "Blessings," there. There is a new Senior Minister joining us beginning in October 2010 - Rev. Greg Coles. Greg is funny, compassionate, kind, and really has a heart for people. He has solid grounding in Unity/New Thought teaching and metaphysical principles. Greg also has a theater background and his lessons are very engaging; he's very good at presenting his message and knows how to get his points across in such a way that they stay with you.
