Amazing drink menu, nice selection of spirits, and super nice despite the fact that I was clearly a weary American traveler. Classy place with a nice vibe at 10 pm on a Saturday night.

To me it was the sort of place that once you were done with your food you'd still want to linger a while. The schnitzel with fries was always my favorite, and I seem to recall that it was reasonably priced. For gourmet food and upscale ambiance, you'd want to go elsewhere. But if you want some place that has sort of that neighborhood feel (although it's basically in downtown Mannheim), I can recommend Zentrale.

To be honest, we were a bit liberal with the bubblies and wine paring throughout the meal... I cannot recite every single ingredient in the 4 courses I was served. But I can say in full confidence that every dish, every bite, contained fresh and perfectly cooked ingredients drizzled with sauces and garnishes that balance, expand and deepen the flavor. I am definitely looking forward to return for dinner one day. Note: "Muss(t)" make reservation - as the locals would say.

We went inside at around 7:15 pm on a Tuesday night and asked for a table and the lady said straight on my face "we don't have any tables and kitchen closes at 9". So, just FYI, if you ever wanted to give this restaurant a try do your damn reservation. I am a globetrotter and I understand reservations are preferred but when you travel it is impossible to do reservations unless it is a super fancy restaurant and you planned it way ahead of time. I do not normally get that attitude and restaurants are generally open to making space for new customers or tourists but not this one, anyways lesson learnt!!!

We went inside and asked for a table and the gentleman said "we don't accept cards", I was carrying cash but the way he said it and the gaze even from the kitchen like I did a crime coming in there, for me it was unwelcoming and insulting. Moreover, it is 2024 seriously!! which restaurants doesn't have credit card options? There is a handful of small restaurants and shops that is still cash only in US but found out quite a few in Germany!!! If you don't speak Deutsch or don't look like them, you might be profiled.
