I once lived in Queenwood as a student when it was a teacher training college, and loved it. We had a large room which three of us girls shared. It was 1968 and we were 18, so at that time under the age of majority, (21) and had to sign in before 10.00 pm, as the college staff were in loco parentis and quite strict about our safety... We had to behave as the college Principle live below us! I once had to climb in through a downstairs toilet window because I was late! I used to sneak down into the hall to play the piano at night, as I was a music student. It had been an all girls college but in our year there were a few boys, and later many more. I remember sewing dresses on a saturday to go to the college disco. None of us had much money but we had a good time and it was a wonderfully peaceful place to live.
