The Wings of Peace statue celebrates Edward the VII, the Peacemaker, who brought peace between Britain and France after 1000 years of conflict. The walk through the Garden is beautiful and quiet with a glimpse of the Pulteney Bridge to the West. There are a few benches to sit.

The 11+ acre park, located at the top of Beechen Cliff, offers a variety of normal park-like things to do: you could bring a picnic, go for a stroll, walk your pup, lean against one of the many beautiful old trees and read a book, stretch out on their lawns, or enjoy the play area with your kiddos. But whatever you do: slow down, stop a minute, and take in that glorious panoramic of the city in her entirety. You can make your way straight to the view itself by driving up Shakespeare Avenue from Wells Road (there's on-street parking and plenty of benches you can sit at), or take Jacob's Ladder (a very long, very steep flight of steps). Parking is free, admission is free, and so is the picture perfect (mental) postcard you'll take away too.

It was only later that I saw that this is on the Bath Map as a tourist sight. It's close to the Royal Crescent which is another great architectue marvel.

The Circus is absolutely something worth walking through while you're traversing the city of Bath…read more(especially if you like unique and/or Georgian architecture): it's three sections of historic townhouses that curve to form a ring, and in the center is a pretty lawn space with a few very large trees. It was designed by John Wood, the Elder in the late 18th century (but he died pretty soon after construction started so John Wood, the Younger finished it). Supposedly it was inspired by Stonehenge. Fun facts: famed painter Thomas Gainsborough lived here and an aerial view of this area of Bath shows that Queens Square, Gay Street, and the Circus resemble a key (this masonic symbol was a theme with Wood apparently). You're not coming here to eat anything (unless you've brought a picnic to enjoy in the middle grassy area); you're not necessarily coming here to do anything (besides observe, reflect, take a few photos, walk around), but it is absolutely fascinating to check out!

We had pre-bought tickets for a specific entry time, but there were tickets available at the door as well. I wouldn't chance it though. The line was short to get in at our time and the audio guide is included as part of the admission price. made the tour interesting and the facts provided were the perfect amount of detail. There was a kid's version too which was great! We were there a little over an hour and at the end you can taste some of the bath water, which was disgusting!!

The bridge in Bath is one of the most photographed examples of Georgian architecture in the city. it was designed in 1769 by Robert Adam and named after Frances Pulteney, wife of William Johnstone Pulteney. He had grand plans to create a 'new town' to rival that of John Wood's on the west side of the city. His grand scheme needed a new bridge, and he didn't want just any old bridge; he wanted a spectacular bridge, one which everyone would talk about, and that's how this came into existence.

Its a good place for a picnic and you can walk through the park's gardens from the entrance in the centre of Bath to the large adventure playground and skateboard park on the other side of the park. I would recommend this park to anyone visiting Bath, especially if you have children.

The main pool is pretty standard, if a bit old now, but it's fine if you just want to come and swim lengths. There's also a waterslide, which is alright for younger kids, but it's certainly not enough to upgrade the pool to leisure status. The squash courts are okay, again fairly standard, but if you visit before 5pm on a weekday then they're basically empty, so you can easily stay for longer than your time slot if you should so desire. Which is good, considering that 45 minutes costs £7.40.

You can book badminton courts and other facilities. I like the aerobics and pilates classes, you don't have to book a while course but 'pay as you go' which works well for me. I used to belong to the gym which had really helpful and knowledgable staff, but when I started working away cancelled my membership with no problems. Good, basic fitness stuff! Also has a car park.
