Spam musubi and pineapple dole whip!
    Brian C.

NOTE: It is not a 76 gas station anymore. The place is actually called Queen K Texaco!!! I just have to say that my review may be heavily influenced from the fact that I was DYING to find some place that had Spam Musubi. I don't have any actual objective evidence of this, but from my previous experience of going from the different Hawaiian islands, the Big Island just feels a lot more scarce in food options. So basically I've been wanting some quick spam musubi at the start of my trip here, but every grocery market or convenience store we went to for the entire week either 1) ran out of stock or 2) stop selling them all together. I really thought it was an easy food item that would readily be available anywhere, but somehow it became this mission of ours to at least find one place that had it before we left. It wasn't until the last day of my trip that in a last ditch effort right before going to the airport we would stop by Queen K to fill up gas, but to my surprise, there was the highly elusive food item sitting right there inside the gas food mart. You can either get them in the full length or half sized, and as a bonus, they even had a little dole whip machine in the back! My prayers had been answered and it was the most glorious last lunch before heading home. I even bought a couple extra (a lot extra) to monch on during the plane ride. TLDR: Queen K Texaco has spam musubi!!

On the recommendation of some great folks I met, I was encouraged to get some fried chicken, definitely dumplings, certainly a Dole whip.the recommendation was a solid one for taking to the beach.

I only stopped here to fill up the gas tank before returning the rental car. The prices were pretty high, but competitive for the area. It wasn't too much of a shock for someone that lives in Southern California as it was only marginally higher. The pump I used was functioning fine, so I wouldn't mind coming here again for gas in the future.

Just a little rant... Of all places I've been to, I've never been charged extra for salad dressing. Like wtheck??? Here's your salad but that dressing is going to cost ya? Well then I'll just eat my 11.04/lb salad dry, no need for the extra calories. :/ Jk. I paid the $2.15 extra for the .195lb of dressing. Otherwise, drive further to Costco for free dressing with your $3 salad

Super clean restroom, spotless. Store well stocked and they are jamming great tunes. If you need a pit stop, this is the place.

Whenever I work on the Westside of the big island (Kona), when heading back to the airport to…read morereturn my rental car, I like to stop by this particular Nom Nom/ Hele gas station in Kaloko because this gas station is hidden from the main road - (Queen Ka'ahumanu Hwy.), and it tends to be overall less crowded than the Texaco or Costco gas center. Yes, there aren't too many gas options along the way back to the airport especially when one forgets to fill up the rental car, but at least this little gas station is just a hop, skip, & jump away from the Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport. Prices here are what it is..........neighbor island gas tends to be a little higher than what we pay for on Oahu, but I guess that's the way it goes, and the locals get used to that. I haven't stopped into the Nom Nom store for anything, I strictly come here for the convenient gas location. If you forget to fill up your rental before taking it back to the airport, this Nom Nom/Hele Gas station is a great option.

But the lady working there was so nice and explained everything! They even signed me up for the discount card. Mahalo for being so kind to this clueless mainlander! Only $8.99 with the discount card for each box. The potatoes were tender and quite tasty. We really enjoyed them. Chicken itself was flavorful, although we found the crust too salty. It was a tiny bit dry. Not sure how long it had been sitting there. The crust was very crunchy. Everything was hot and well packaged. Overall, a great deal and worth a try if you're in the area!
