I hired this company for a $35,000+ renovation, expecting professional trade standards and a premium experience. Instead, I was left with glaring amateur defects, cut corners, and an incredibly frustrating customer experience.
The primary physical issues left behind were basic installation errors:
- Wobbly Shower Head: The shower arm physically wobbles and shifts during routine use. Pre-drywall photographs revealed the plumbing team mounted the fixture on the absolute edge of a thin wood backing strip and completely omitted the top structural mounting screw.
- Defective Closet Door Layout: For a set of bypass sliding closet doors, the recessed handles were installed identically on the left side of both door slabs instead of being mirrored on the outer closing edges. This leaves one handle sitting completely counterintuitively dead-center in the middle of the closet opening when closed.
While mistakes can happen on any project, the real nightmare was the post-construction communication. Dealing with management was a masterclass in constant gaslighting. When confronted with photographic evidence of the poor plumbing framing, the contractor repeatedly tried to rewrite history and deflect accountability. I was told that a missing structural screw "does not affect functionality," that rigid copper hasn't been industry standard since the 1980s (completely false for shower risers), and that an objectively incorrect door handle layout was merely my "personal preference" rather than an installer error.
For a $35,000+ price tag, a client should not have to repeatedly debate basic, common-sense construction standards just to get a contractor to honor their work.
To top it all off, I discovered that Matin had been filming and publishing promotional videos of the work inside my private residence onto their social media channels without my knowledge or consent. Using a client's private home for free commercial marketing without a signed waiver is a shocking violation of basic privacy laws and business ethics. It proves an absolute lack of respect for boundaries and client trust.
Immediately after this review was posted, the company posted an initial response admitting to the installation errors and unauthorized filming, offering to fix them at their expense. They have since deleted that admission of fault and replaced it with a defensive statement. I have retained time-stamped records of their original confession for legal and regulatory purposes.
They quickly deleted that honest admission of fault once they realized it ruined their legal position, and replaced it with the defensive text you see below. They know the work is defective; they just don't want to pay to fix it.
If you expect accountability, professional standards, and honest communication, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. read more
