Its a Michelin-noted, white tablecloth place with impeccable but cordial service, and a great menu. It's also very popular with locals, many of whom were in evidence, ordering their "usual" dishes. The portions are decently generous, and one of ours came with unexpected bonuses. The quality of the food was always high, and the execution ranged from "good" to "very good". Unfortunately their signature farfalle dish was the one that impressed the least; other dishes we had were more characterful. Great wine list with lots of Local, Italian and some international choices. This is a real Sulmona experience, and worth considering if you'll be in town.

We do not speak any Italian and read online that this restaurant was good. Let me be clear...this restaurant is AWESOME!!!! First of all, the people were so nice and helpful. They literally walked us to the municiple building after our meal to help with some translation and also walked us to the best gelato store after our meal. They even called different people to help us try to find our long distance relatives. Second of all the food is out of this world!!!! If you don't know what to order just let them order for you. We had about 15 people in our party and they just kept bringing out different appetizers, main dishes, etc. The short ribs are tremendous but really everything is great. The bill was very resonable and the place is also very kid friendly. Davide, one member of the family who runs this place, will totally take care of you.

The attention to detail for every plate was beautiful and stunning. The photos don't do it justice but it's truly a one of a kind experience. The sommelier had spot on recommendations when we asked about taste, body and price. Speaking of attention to detail, I didn't even realize I dropped my napkin and before I could even notice they had a fresh one on my lap. They take care of each and every person with grace. Some reviews say the Service is slow or inattentive but I found this the opposite. For the Antipasta, I chose Bollito di baccala in sala verde (18e) It was delicate and light and not over salty. Insalate di funghi porcini con rucola e Parmigiano (18 e) The porcini mushrooms were absolutely the freshest and so fragrant mushroom I have ever eaten!! I admit its more and more difficult to find them but it still happens. This specific evening I walked along the harbour of Gaeta. Passed by numerous restaurants until everything seemed to end in darkness. In this darkness I saw a light 100 meters further away. As I continued my search for a place to eat I heard voices and saw a sign in light; Mediterraneo. I was met with smiles and kindness. Ordered a Risotto Pescatore and a glass of wine while in conversation with the owner and other guests. The risotto was served and it was world class quality. Mediterraneo is part of this city´s history and tradition. It took pride in simplicity and grounding itself in the people living here. The restaurant closed and we all said good-bye and good night. Went back to my hotel happy to have confronted the darkness to find the light of restaurant Mediterraneo. You can try my experience when in Gaeta.
