When the BF said he was taking me to dinner in a place that used to be a garage I had visions of…read moreoverall wearing staff (one strap whimsically undone, red bandana jauntily poking for their back pockets) and oil can water pitchers. But there was none of that gimmick or kitsch here. Just a nicely designed large space that makes a classy nod to its past with some interesting photos on the wall (oh, and a life size mini van piece of art/sculpture outside) The spaces is large, open, with high ceilings and wall to wall windows. I was there late on a rainy evening but I bet it's even more impressive on a sunny summer day or early evening (there is also a terrace) As with some of my other recent restaurant experiences in Grenoble and its environs, i'm not sure I'd cross town for it (but then again, i don't know the entire dining scene here, so maybe it IS worth crossing town for?) We shared the mixed tasting plate as an entree (could have just ordered that as a main between two people) All good on the plate - tasty vegetables, great rillettes (of salmon, I think), olives, interesting nems - only thing I wasn't loving was the guacamole. (too smooth and had that strange, almost fermented taste, that you get in the avocado flavoured spread in plastic tubs - although I don't think it came from a tub because it had started to discolour on the top slightly) That said, the BF loved it - so maybe its down to personal, or cultural difference. My main was a caesar salad, which wasn't a traditional caesar salad, but was very good. It came with breaded chicken on top - copious amounts. His noix st jacques main was very nicely done. The owner was really pleasant and working the floor - along with only one other wait staff. The place must hold 50 (and it was full, full, full when we were there) So, these two were working their tails off - but still happy and smiling. (not always that usual in France) I could not manage to get more than a few bites of my dinner salad (the entree really was that big for me). So, they found some kind of plastic container in the kitchen to pack it up for me to go (also not that usual in France) We ordered a la carte, but they have a menu for 38 Euros (which seems a tiny bit expensive to me for this restaurant in this location...although maybe not having seen the size of the portions) Also, it seems they have a good plat du jour deal at lunch (12 Euros)

La décoration est réalisée grâce à des éléments glanés au fil des mois aux quatre coins de la France : matériels d'usine, lampes navales et matériels cinématographique au programme. Went here for dinner after a 50 mile day in the saddle, including Alpe D'Huez. Glad we got there…read moreright as they opened as it filled fast. We each ordered the priz fixe 28€ option; we each got onion soup; which was different from the one in Paris, but equally good. Emmentaler chews in place of grueyer; and the broth tasted almost mushroom-like. We added on 6 escargot; served out of the shell in butter and parsley; classic and delicious. Aimée had the mushroom ravioli, served in a crock dish; the sauce/cheese was sweet and flavorful; more ravioli pieces than entire ravioli; I had the fish of the day; sea bass with a vegetable sauce that had a deep flavor; came with cooked local in season vegetables, a perfect accompaniment. Aimée had the strawberry soup for dessert; came in a sundae dish with what appeared to be gelato in the middle; wonderful, tart. I had the local dessert as recommended by our waiter; walnut pie with chartreuse ice cream. The rich pie, with walnuts was offset by the ice cream in the most wonderful way. Our waiter was excellent; great recommendations, even though they were very busy he kept up and had a great attitude. Highly recommend - will be back if in Grenoble again

Exceptional views, wonderful flavors, local preparation and quintessential French…read more I order the prize fixed and enjoyed hot escargot, local trout and fine desert.

What an amazing find! We were in Grenoble last week on a cold, rainy day. We only had a few hours…read moreas we were passing through, but after checking out the nearby Museum of Archaeology (seriously, go check that out, too!) we were hungry and the dreaded 2 p.m. (closing time of doom for restaurants in France) was quickly approaching. We had no idea where to go so we just walked. We crossed a bridge and saw a sign for a restaurant. As it was pouring we just went inside, hoping they were still open. They were. The boyfriend and I love games. All games - video, board, card, you name it, we love it. So imagine our surprise when we walked in and saw tons of board games. Lots of fantasy-style artwork and D&D stuff everywhere! Plus, they had food! The server came over and showed us the specials. I had the Stout Pie. The boyfriend ordered a Curry Soup and something I can't remember. He ate everything - really enjoyed it. I loved the salad the pie came with. The pie was interesting, but I kept biting into bone, so that wasn't my favorite. But that salad! Wow, that was great! :) I even had the BF's, it was that good. The bathrooms are downstairs and I went just to check it out. There's a whole other section of tables downstairs with even more games. There's costumes and everything. Damn, we were wishing we could stay just to check out a game night. This place looks so awesome! We are already talking about returning just to check this out more in depth. The food is really great quality. You don't just get crap burgers and fries like you would in the States. They really have a deep menu of fresh, great items that will leave you very satisfied. Thank you, for existing, K Fee Des Jeux! We will be back - stay awesome!
