A fantastic place to have my last business dinner in Annecy. LOVED IT!…read more First off, the staff were very friendly - I mean, very friendly - and nice and polite and accommodating and hospitable. The food was delicious, the portions were generous enough even for my appetite and the prices were rather reasonable. The place is small and there's a much larger, though smoking, outdoor sitting area. Inside it's all very cozy and homey. Out of the many restaurants I tried in Annecy over 2 weeks, this is one of my 2 favorites.

Lunch here was a bit a disaster, so why still two stars? I visited first about two years ago, and…read morehad good food and friendly service -- a solid four-star experience. This most recent visit was a one-star experience, and giving the benefit of the doubt; maybe they just had a really bad day. As a starter, the three preparations of foie gras were just ok. The seared was nothing special and the terrine did not seem the best quality (e.g. it was crumbly in texture). The "creme brulee" was too sweet and not good. The duck was well prepared, but the sauce was overly sweet (thankfully it was on the side). The weird part of the dish was the veggies were all in puree form, and really none of them were good. The potatoes were gratin dauphinois, and somehow even this was messed up -- dry and tasteless. My friend's tuna tartare was very strange in flavor -- something like fennel. Whatever it was, the combination was bad, and it was left unfinished. It also didn't help that the fish didn't seem fresh, and had almost a gray color. Again even the sides were kind of messed up, as the greens had a sauce that tasted too much of horseradish. At least the fried potatoes were good. This restaurant never had the nicest ambiance -- it's kind of a tacky mishmash or themes. On top of that for the price, you would hope for much better flavors and quality. Maybe they just had a really bad day, but there was very little redeemable about the recent experience.

My wife had the mussels and each one was either tiny (yes a fingertip at most) or wasn't open. I had the perche and it was a fraction of the size from the past without much flavor. We asked the server if the restaurant had changed and he said the owner had changed within the last year. Avoid this place if you liked it in the past!

The ambience rustic, down home, pub-ish (good cool vibe). Lots of seating, both indoor and outdoors. They have two outdoor seating areas ... the back with the 'river' view and the front is on the promenade (fun for people watching). The food was very tasty. Salmon Tartar: This was more for American' tastebuds ... mango and mango puree, generous chunks of avocado and fresh grapefruit segments. Very California. Delicious and light. Came with fries, which were a little under seasoned and cold (that was the case for all the fries we ordered as I think they make them in big batches as it's the typical accompaniment for most entrees). ESTA burger: Super flavorful, never thought of pairing it with tartar sauce. Must like tartar sauce, but if you do, YUM! The bun was toasted to perfection and held up nicely to the juice patty. Fresh green lettuce gave it the freshness and crisp too. Mussels with bacon and beer: That broth .... yum! You'd want to drink it; they give you a spoon so they know you want to drink it too. Dunk the bread into it to soak up the yummy salty, briny, addicting goodness. The mussels were plump and fresh too. Forgot the name, but its a sausage with cheese (raclette?) casserole. Salty, meaty, hearty, rich and filling. Order a side salad to cut the richness. It was very good, but I wouldn't be able to eat all of it due to how filling and cheesy it is. Good place, glad we came. Pix to come!

Thank you Yelp for helping my friends and I find out about Le Pichet!…read more Holy fondue! When we arrived in Annecy we were determined to find a fondue restaurant since that is what the region is notorious for. We were a party of five and we were quickly assisted when we arrived. There is indoor and outdoor seating available for you to choose, but we opted for a table inside just so we wouldn't have to wait. The patio was pretty busy when we arrived. The staff was super friendly and were happy to speak english with us. We did a total of three fondues for the five of us. We ordered two fondues of one type and then one of another, so they combined the two portions into one pot. I think it was the perfect amount for the five of us. It's kind of hard to gage how much to order and whether it will be filling enough or not when it comes to this. To complement the cheese we ordered some side dishes like small house salads and charcuterie boards, just so we weren't eating only cheese. The house pitcher of wine is cheap and delicious. Someone in our table ended up ordering a bottle of wine they didn't end up liking and spent a couple of euros on it. This was some of the best fondue I've ever had and would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to have a local delicacy in Annecy. Cheese lovers will adore it.

We ordered a very good bottle of white Bordeaux from 2010 (85 Euros and worth it, but very reasonable wine was also available). Two gratis appetizers were brought unbidden to the table. The first was toasted bread with a pate of Chicken, and the second was a refreshing mixture of tomato, white and green asparagus, parsley. Wonderful! My wife's first course was was flour dusted and fried octopus, with a sweet Asian-influenced sauce. Mine was a brick of crab meat, green apple, celery, and lemon mayonnaise. Super good. Our mains were chicken in a lovely white sauce with mixed veggies for my wife. Mine was a fillet of flakey white grilled fish with vegetables. Very solid. After the mains we were offered a purée of mango to cleanse the palate. Yummy. Dessert were something special. Kim ordered a plate of chocolate. Doing cake, chocolate cream, and a molten centered chocolate cake, and chocolate ice cream. Our waiter told me that my dessert was the most delicious one in all France called the Louise Cup, in honor of the chef's daughter: vanilla crème brûlée base, spoon biscuit, mint tea jelly, raspberries and raspberry coulis, with whipped cream on top. Let me tell you, it was the best dessert in France! The restaurant is in an out of the way location but within easy walking distance of the train station and other central places. The ambiance was minimalist but fine. We were seated outdoors but there was also inside seating if we had wished. All the other patrons were local French families. We requested to meet the chef afterwards and he was very pleased by our love for his food. Highest recommendation!

They ran out of fish for the day, so my wife had to order the Salmon Terrine. If you like Terrine, you may like it, but neither of us really favor it, so we couldn't appreciate it as much. Basically, Terrine is a cold dish composed mainly of gelatin and other items they decide to mix in. It wasn't terrible, it's just something we aren't used to. The restaurant is a nicely-decorated one, and the service was fairly good. It's a little pricier than some other restaurants in Annecy, but nothing extravagant.
