Total incompetence led to our ten-year-old daughter in tears and a sleepless night worrying about…read moreour beloved pets and the huge bill we were threatened with...... Phoned kennels that we have used a few times before to say we were delayed and given the opening hours we couldn't collect our two dogs until the next day. While on the phone was told that our two dogs had been fighting and had had to be seperated into two kennels instead of sharing one. Obviously we were very upset and worried when told this and just couldn't believe it as the two dogs have been together since pups and there have been no problems in three years. This was made worse when we were told that we would have to pay more than double what we were expecting or we wouldn't get the dogs back!. This ruined the end of a really good holiday! We arrived at the kennels next day and after some debate about how long the dogs had been there we were led to a kennel to get the first dog and were shown one that wasn't ours. It then became clear that they had mixed our dogs up with another two dogs (one had the same name but you would think it would be hard to mistake an Italian Spinone for a spaniel!). Our dogs hadn't been fighting and were still in together so all that worry and upset was for nothing. When this became evident they did say sorry but quite frankly that isn't good enough. In addition one of the dogs seems to have lost some weight and he wasn't overweight to start with. Ended up paying what we should have to start with but left with the distinct feeling they certainly didn't give the attention to the dogs they say they do. Needless to say we will not be using the kennels again! Any suggestions for good local boarding kennels at reasonable prices?

The appearance of the entrance and reception is really nice with plenty of products to buy…read more Visually there are no faults but if you really care for your animal, then avoid this place. My dog was injured here, deliberately by the sadist kids they had running the place with no adult in sight. This may have changed now because this place had a really poor write up so effort may have been made since then but I see that many bad reviews have somehow vanished from the net. They tried to claim that they can't be "that bad" as they had a contract to keep strays, as if strays are subject to high scrutiny from their owners? There are other kennels out there, albeit not as nice looking as union farm, with some nowhere near to as nice looking but they can give you a detailed report of your pet, how much / when they began to eat, etc. The Union farm staff couldn't tell me anything other than "yeh the dogs been fine"
