Great economy hotel. Staff are pleasant and helpful, rooms are clean and updated and the pool was clean. Will stay here again.

I don't normally leave negative feedback- but this one deserves it. We arrived Sunday night and was…read morewelcomed by the desk clerk. Got to room and digital didn't work. Back down stairs. Once in room was looking to get some ice and found the area where the ice bucket was nasty. I will attach pics but they didn't capture all of it well. The sink had old food (egg) stuck to the drain, coffee maker was full of dust and grime. Ironed my clothes and thankfully was ironing blue slacks because rust came pouring out of the iron. I went to the front desk the next morning to let and showed them pictures (manager present) and they said they would take care of it and apologized. Upon arrival that evening a housekeeper had been in my room and straightened the bed but did not touch the gross items. I notified the front desk on the way out again and they said thank you. I would NOT recommend staying at this hotel if you are in Barrie. Very nasty.

I booked this stay back in March for a staycation pass thru for a work job. At the time of booking…read morethe website and reviews indicated the location was serving up brown bag breakfast. I booked this after wanting to book the local holiday in and I guess with their take back to room host serve, prices moved 1.5X. Very frankly I was hesitant to book this after reviews were suggesting the place was tremendously mismanaged because of (maybe) short staffing during this pandemic. There were reviews about amenities just not available but the pool seemed to be operating. On arrival, the check in was easy, the room was okay, inspected the bathroom, checked the space it was okay. When you look into detail, the sheets are riddled with holes, there are "mystery stains" in the comforter, there are yellow stains on the bathroom wall paper, there are mosquitos in the room to suck you dry. Towels were rough, not soft. The breakfast buffet was typical. For a Hilton brand, I guess I expected something a little more than typical but acceptable. Only feedback was the options were not very diabetic friendly-that's bread option was whole wheat and white Texas toast and white bagels. The muffins were "plastic bag" stuff you would see in the states at low tier hotels. Really my diabetic travel companion could only eat whole wheat toast? The eggs were with cheese, with hame and red paper (so pretty much not halal) and pork sausages or pork sausage patty. The oatmeal was made in a pot for patrons to self serve, did not touch it, it was Covid -and not sure if sugar was added. The green cheese option was only whole fat and yogurt was only whole fat options. Juice was not fresh squeeze like some Hilton locations, it was your concentrated bags diluted. Parking was easy to get to, air conditioning worked. This hotel is not far from Tyndale park. Rating 4 - room was okay, -1 star for wall stains(of what I could see) Rating 2 - cleanliness and quality of sheets, towels (sheets had stains and holes) Rating 2 - limited food selection for breakfast. The local Holiday Inn had more breakfast selection, I would bet the comfort inn would have better selection too.

Since I was staying in Barrie for a couple nights, I wanted to be downtown rather than at one of…read morethe hotels off the highway (that's where I usually stay). I couldn't find a hotel downtown but did find the Harbour View Inn, which is a "boutique heritage hotel" according to their website. It reminded me of a bed 'n breakfast but I did have my own bathroom and breakfast isn't included. "At the corner of what was called Louisa Street (now a section of Dunlop Street East), sits what is now known as the Harbour View Inn. The house is believed to have been built about 1885 for John Forsythe, Chief Clerk in the post office, who by 1891 was described simply as a gentleman. The house (constructed in 1885) is on the former site of Meldrum's Hotel. It's believed that the Inn may in fact be two houses, the rear (Berczy Street) section being the oldest, possibly dating to the mid 1850's. This can be clearly seen in the brickwork at the rear of the hotel. In keeping with the 1800's theme, the Harbour View Inn proudly bestowed the names of the first 10 mayors of the City of Barrie on our suites. On each suite door, there is a plaque with the Mayor's name, and the dates they held office. You can catch a glimpse of Barrie's history through the many old photographs and newspaper articles from the 1800's that flow through our hallways. Step back in time at the Harbour View Inn! " I had the F.E.P. Pelper Suite. It was cute. The windows looked out onto Lake Simcoe, which was across the street. I had the windows open to let in the fresh air. The street, though, is a busy one and I could hear the constant stream of traffic. There is a mini kitchen complete with glasses, utensils, etc. The bathroom was through the mini kitchen. The outside door is locked at 10pm but you have a key. The reception staff also leaves. I couldn't figure out the alarm clock so Wednesday night about 8pm asked for a wake-up call for the next day. I called last night about 9:30pm a couple times to ask for a wake-up call but no one answered (so I used my cell phone). WIFI and parking are free. It's less than a ten minute walk to the downtown core. It was a nice change from staying at a chain motel. I would stay here again if I wanted to be near the downtown core (less than a ten minute walk).

The staff were friendly and made special arrangements to check me in late in the evening. The hotel was clean, peaceful and I felt very at home there. I would recommend this boutique hotel to anyone.

On the morning of December…read more3rd, at approximately 6:30 a.m., my Land Cruiser was broken into and an attempted theft occurred. The rear window was smashed and the dashboard damaged. As a result, my vehicle had to be towed to the local dealership for repairs. Being from New Brunswick, I had nowhere else to go, so I stayed an additional night at the same rate of $109 plus taxes. The following day, with a late checkout of noon, my vehicle was still not ready. I was then charged $178.47 plus an additional $44.50 for staying past the checkout time. Only two hours later, my vehicle was ready, at which point I packed up and checked out. Despite the circumstances and the fact that I was essentially stranded due to a crime that occurred on your property, no consideration or reduction was offered. I was simply told "too bad." This was extremely disappointing and reflects very poorly on your customer service. Charging a guest full price under these circumstances--especially when they have no choice but to remain in your city--shows a lack of compassion and flexibility. I sincerely hope other guests do not have to experience something similar. Marc Fortier New Brunswick

I stayed at this Holiday Inn location for two nights. It is centrally located right off from…read moreMapleview Dr and close to the hwy 401 North exit to access the surrounding areas in Barrie. **Disclosure, this is an overnight stay during the pandemic and may not represent the same experience post pandemic.** ACCESSIBILITY It has automatic front doors and elevator, but access to the elevator was through the main entrance; rear entrance has stairs only. There were no sidewalks at the entrance, the pavement is uneven opening patrons to tripping hazards and the grading really makes it a wet and soggy way into the building on rain days. FOYER When you walk into the foyer, you are greeted with a desk, coffee and tea around the corner; but during the pandemic all day coffee not available. Down the hall, a barricaded breakfast area and elevator. Hand sanitizer is located at the front of the elevator, but there is no restriction on use like single rider during pandemic. Pool and gym amenity was closed during the pandemic. THE ROOM My room 316 was a standard two queen, basically the most economic room, no kitchen. On the entrance I had the clothes hanger followed by a little kitchen with mini fridge and microwave and a keurig maker. On the left the washroom stocked two beds on the left, tv on the right on top of dresser, an office desk, two phones and a view of a car dealership parking lot. The room was visibly clean, but as you look closer I saw the bathroom had nail clippings on the corner of the counter, some mold under the counter to sink gaps, some hair from the previous patron in the room on the floor near the tub, the counter next to the facial tissue holder had some weird oil residue smudge and the art work had what appeared to be some projectile residue (I'll let you guess what it is). The bathroom was not accessible, avoid 316 if you are heavyset. The door could not open all the way and got stuck on the toilet. You had to hopscotch over the toilet or you had to squeeze sideways to close the door. The bathroom had some eco friendly shampoo, conditioner and soap dispenser and provided few plastic one time use containers. I thought that was quite nice because there probably is a lot of waste. The hair dryer was on top of the shelving, again accessibility reason it was pretty hard to reach. The bathroom mirror has a cool defog feature so after you shower you could see yourself (naked) in the mirror..cooool. The mini kitchen (not full kitchen) appeared useable. During the pandemic individual room coffee making is somewhat important because you don't know if you will get coffee made. One problem with the Keurig maker is that it wasnt even cleaned. Brown water was coming out of it when I used it. There is no luggage rack but there is a bench, office table, coffee table and desk chair to place belongings. Thermostat and room exhaust works. BREAKFAST Breakfast serve is probably one of the best. Hot serve of eggs, bacon, sausage with your bread options (english muffin, toast, bagel, with the oatmeal flavoured and unflavored, yogurt, cereal and even premade pancake that could be toasted. They even had a fruit bowl. Outside the room around the corner of the desk was the coffee and tea and you can ask for more Keurig pods from the desk. I give this hotel credit, they are probably one of the better breakfast serve with dietary considerations, like offering whole wheat, non pork, dairy and non dairy options and was very suitable for my diabetic travel companion. FRONT DESK FRIENDLINESS During the pandemic, I have noticed people talk less with a mask and with the plexiglas barriers. I would say there were some nice desk people and some cold people. The nice ones seems to be on the afternoon and evening shift, but the morning shift person was pretty cold -maybe shes still waking up? VALUE The price per room was roughly $105 per night plus the 17% tax using the BMO reward purchase site (there is the standard 13% tax and 4% tourism levy). I did see on their website the rooms started around 120$. I perused reviews and the pricing seemed to be aligned with pre-covid pricing without a number of amenities like gym and pool. If you like holiday inn beds without the hot breakfast, Comfort Inn is $85+17% tax. If you prefer better beds, the Hamptons was same price as Holiday Inn with grab n go breakfast. Accessibility, including room bathroom access unable to open door fully-not accessible to all people 2/5 Room cleanliness, found areas not cleaned in room 2/5 Breakfast serve 5/5 Front desk friendliness 3/5 Value 2/5 Pandemic safety, lacks elevator instruction 2/5 Average 2.6 stars = rounded to 3 stars. I was overall disappointed on the cleanliness of the room, I mean finding nail clipping and hair, mold on the sink.. unclean Keurig coffee maker.

Our room was clean and comfortable; totally fine. Seriously over priced though…read more In the WC there's signage about 'saving the planet' by conserving towels / water ie. money for the corp; meanwhile, breakfast and coffee are all served with plastics headed for the landfill.
