As far as the food and lodging I can't speak to that, but if you just want to have a drink along the turquoise water, I'd recommend. Edit: did come back to try the food! It provided an all inclusive, low key day exploring nature and enjoying the water. It's basically a massive lagoon where you can snorkel different areas, take an inner tube through the mangroves, ride bikes to the mangroves, eat and drink as much as you want (buy the all inclusive package it's worth it), and ride the water slides from the top of the lighthouse. The food was decent for a buffet at a water park. The three different restaurants had a variety of options. The bars around the park would make you drinks with quality spirits for an all inclusive like Bacardi, Malibu, etc. We were trying to order our tickets online the same day but we kept getting an error message. We called their helpline and purchased tickets over the phone. I was glad we did because we received a discount! Lastly, there are stations all around the park where you can get a locker and pickup snorkel gear, etc. Don't go to the first station you see. Walk to the main area of the park and choose a station close to your next activity. They also provide showers to rinse before and after and life jackets to wear while in the lagoon.

Cenotes, caves, snorkeling, river floats, hammocks, zip lines, and all the water activities you could want, all tucked into the jungle. What really surprised me was the food. I normally hate buffets, but this one was actually... good. Like really good. Fresh, flavorful, and plenty of options for everyone, from picky eaters to foodies. We ate well and didn't feel like we were sacrificing quality just because it was all-inclusive. We went back for thirds lol. It's definitely a long day and there's a lot of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and pace yourself, but that's part of the fun. You can be adventurous or just float, snack, and nap in a hammock with a drink in your hand. The fact that almost everything is included (food, drinks, gear, activities) makes it feel totally worth it. No nickel-and-diming, just show up and enjoy. If you're in Tulum with family or honestly anyone who loves nature and water, Xel-Há is a must. We had an amazing time and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I have to say on the initial approach during the day it felt mmmm underwhelming. The person checking me in mentioned something about most huts not having HOT WATER and that hot water would be delivered in the morning. I'm still baffled by that statement and how all that works. But he then realized that I was in one of two tents that did actually have hot water all the time. So that was a relief as I LOVE to take long HOT showers! He also mentioned the 2 cenotes on site as well as the restaurant that was directly behind check in. He then escorted to my tent that was locked with a padlock keeping a heavy gauge zipper pulled to the bottom of the entrance. I was in the "elephant tent" #16 as my padlock key had an elephant key ring holder. Call me crazy but for some reason it didn't occur to me that "Glamping" didn't include A/C. Instead there is a fan on one of the 4 upright pillars that constructed the HUT, TENT, ALMOST YURT, I don't know what to call it. But it did have a concrete foundation. I was traveling solo so I didn't mind that I had two twin beds, but it would have been nice having something larger. I could feel the springs in the mattress so not the best quality ever, but I slept great anyway. My bathroom sink didn't have hot water at all and I let it run off both sides for a good long time before realizing he must have been mistaken about the hot water. With it being the hottest part of the day the tent was warmish but still pleasant. I went ahead and ventured out to explore the property. The 1st cenote near the front of the property was small and the water was coated in an unattractive film. But there was a neat little HUT nearby that was like a Sauna. I started to wonder if this is where I would have a spirit quest later on. Walking to the back of the property I found a few people hanging out in and around a much nicer cenote with very clear beautiful water. It was hot out so I took off my shirt and shoes and got right in. The water was COOL and completely refreshing. One of the two couples in the cenote had just been married in Akumal a few days earlier. We spent time chatting while the bats flew over head and a school of tiny fish nibbled at us in the very cool and refreshing water. A huge frog swam right up next to me and quickly scooted away when I tried to pick it up. We stayed till sunset, and while I would have liked to stay a little while longer I wasn't about to stay there by myself, in the dark. After all Jaguars roam the area. After the dip in the cenote I needed a shower to warm up. Fortunately my private outdoor shower had lots of water pressure and hot water to make it perfect. Night time at Akumal Natura Glamping is other worldly, absolutely beautiful. After dinner at the on-site restaurant I laid out on the hanging bed in the photos. A great escape from the ordinary! Quick notes: Bugs were not an issue at all (Thank you bats) I didn't see any snakes or large spiders This city boy felt very comfortable right away Its a friendly place and while I like to double lock my door at hotels the small number of people and the security around the property gave me plenty of faith that me and my belongings were safe. There aren't drawers or a table for your things inside the hut. I really could have used a table or luggage stand. Towels and linens are pretty good

However the website is very vague. It doesn't make it clear what the entertainment is and there is no real access to their resort dinner menus so you can have can idea of what their "gourmet inclusive" meals are all about. Our favorite restaurants were Culinaria, which specialized in seafood entrees and the Beachside BBQ Grill which made fabulous burgers after a morning of beach lounging. But overall their restaurants were disappointing. The menus were poorly translated. For instance, one of the dessert offerings was a "popsicle." What was actually served was an odd piece of marshmallow fluff in the shape of a popsicle and coated in chocolate. Nothing actually popsicle about it. But why does this resort still get 4 stars?? Because their night time food and entertainment events are FANTASTIC. What's frustrating is that you would never be able to tell that this was something they excel in because there is nothing about any of it on their website and when you are actually there no one even tells you about it or hypes it up at all!! We only would hear about it by happenstance by others staying on the resort but none of the staff talked to us about it! They had a Beach BBQ theme night with almost 20 manned action food stations making all kinds of delicious grilled meats, seafood, made to order crepes and tacos, and a coffee barista that will set your baileys irish cream ablaze before adding it to your coffee! I also saw the best fire show of my life! They also had a Mexican party theme night with another 20 live action food stations with a build your own elote bar, build your taco soup, and open bar offering authentic Mexican drinks like horchata and they put on a dazzling Mexican dance show and the best mariachi band i had ever heard. Their restaurants are just ok. Their night time entertainment--EPIC And they have a beautiful beach that the staff work hard to keep clean from dead seaweed. There were tons of beach beds available for use, we never felt the need to wake up early and try to "save" a spot on the beach because there was enough space for everyone without feeling like you were on top of each other. There's just one extremely rude guy at the building who checks your reservation and then sends you next-door to a completely different establishment, which will also not take you to the Labnaha cenote.

Some of us wanted to zip line, some wanted to explore the caves, and we all wanted to explore the Cenote snorkeling. They accommodated us splitting up our group and providing each with a personal guide, then gathered us together to go down into the cenote for swimming. The caves were great, very walkable and lots of interesting features. There are a lot of bats and it was neat to see them in their habitat. They were quite a bit larger than our little brown bats in the northwest! The tour was not crowded, felt like we had the cave to ourselves and the guide was on our schedule. There were several caves that we explored and there were also nice exit points along the way if someone started feeling claustrophobic. They ended the caves at an area with lots of animals to view while we walked back to the main area. Fun seeing a large spider monkey group in one area, looked like zip lines went over some of the areas with different animals within fenced areas. Our group that did zip line really enjoyed it and had fun on the lines and going upside down, seemed like it was a good tour too. The cenote was more crowded. They took our group on a tour in the water and then left us to snorkel as long as we wanted. Lots of cave fish and things to explore above and below the water. This park is really nice if you want to sample a lot of local things at once like caves, wildlife, cenote, and snorkeling. I recommend stopping by it's a easy drive off the main road. It was an unpaved road and plan to get your car dusty but it helped make it feel like you were out in the jungle. Our group was all adults, but smaller children were LOVING it. Perfect experience for the grade school age kids too.

The water is... refreshing.. many opportunities for great photos... keep in mind that you cannot wear bug spray or sunscreen as it it harmful to the fish in the Cenote. They will ask you to rinse your body prior to entering the Cenote.. bring an underwater camera as the pictures are soooo beautiful underwater.. I recommend bringing snorkel gear because it is a site to see underwater. Enjoy!!
