My husband and I discovered Qs at the Public Market three years ago and we've been devoted customers ever since, even though we live in New York! They are a great snack that feels like a treat and with so many varieties to try we never get bored! Most of all we love that since they're homemade the nut flavors are all-natural, bold and never overly sweet or salty. I love the coquito almonds (esp all the coconut chunks leftover in the bottom of the bag) and my husband goes for all the different chocolates (esp the chocolate cardamom orange!). We are excited to try the new cacao nibs as well. Overall, love the family vibes here, the lovely and always helpful staff and the high quality product. Great customer service! Tasted the mango cayenne cashews, bourbon pecans, and sweet almonds-yum! Have to remember to come back for the bourbon pecans, to use as a salad topper. My favorite nuts so far are the chocolate coconut almonds- almonds dusted with chocolate and coconut flakes, with little chunks of coconut that are a great bonus! I got a small party platter for ~$10, that had sweet and salty peanuts, salted cashews, and chocolate cashews and almonds. read more

I've passed this shop a few times over the years while they were roasting nuts, and it's smelled amazing. I finally stopped in recently and got small packs of 8 different kinds of nuts because they had such a variety. They made for good snacking, but sadly, the custom flavors were mostly disappointing, so it doesn't seem worth going back. Nuts that were supposed to be chocolately (Mexican Chocolate Pecans, Hot Chocolate Almonds, Chocolate Orange Cardamom Almonds) tasted more of sugar (the 2nd ingredient) than chocolate; cardamom was not identifiable and orange was missing, but hot chilies did give a mild slow burn. Lemongrass Cashews lack the expected acid note and weirdly also contain garlic; they are kind of umami. For Key Lime Ginger Cashews, flavor is there but faint, until you get a chunk of ginger and then it's overwhelmingly ginger. Coquito Almonds were tasty, but mostly thanks to the sweetened coconut flavor (which you can get cheaper elsewhere) and the coquito spices did not come through. You can taste both flavors in Maple Bourbon Pecans, but only barely. Garlic Sage Cashews have lots of umami and light effervescence, but are nothing spectacular. Weirdly they also contain basil, which might be why they end up with sort of a rosemary-like flavor. read more

As quoted from a friend who introduced me to this place "didn't know I needed them in my life until I tried them" - I totally agree! Right when you step into the store, you'll be immediately greeted by a rich scent of lime and spices. The store owner was incredibly sweet and gave me a brief introduction to all the varieties. She was also very generous with the samples. Here are the flavors I tried: Mango cayenne cashews- sweet with a spicy kick in a mix of cashews and dried mango bits Chocolate lavender almonds - starts off rather subtle but finishes with a really nice aroma Chocolate coconut almonds - lightly dressed with a coat of chocolate and coconut shavings Mexican chocolate - cinnamon and spices, probably the most common of the ones I've tried Health nut - don't remember exactly what was in this but it was a great sweet and savory mix. You can purchase this one by the pound. I didn't notice this until later, but the flavors are available with different nuts such as pecans/cashews/almonds. I highly recommend this place! I've walked by this store many times and have seen the staff freshly roasting nuts through their windows, but I initially never bothered going in because I assumed I wouldn't be a huge fan of any roasted nut store. I finally got curious enough and went in, now my issue is that I know their products are DELICIOUS, I'm walking distance, and may start spending a lot of my money here... The staff are friendly and happy to give samples if you ask for recommendations or say you want to try a particular flavor. I went home with a small bag of: coconut ginger almonds, sweet roasted pecans, and spicy cashews roasted in sesame oil. All were great, unique flavors and were 3 for $10 ($3.50 each otherwise). They do have other snacks-- like ice cream and sorbet-- I tried their passionate fruit sorbet and it was sooooo good. I bought a bag of their blueberry nut granola but haven't tried it yet. They also carry other local treats like Tazo chocolate. *also, the ingredients used for roasting all the nuts are vegan friendly. read more

The newest addition to the neighborhood, replacing a mediocre convenience store is Q's Nuts, a family-owned, speciality store that specializes in roasting and selling... nuts. All kinds of nuts. Sweet, savory, vegan, you name it! There's a ton of delicious samples and all kinds of varieties and flavors as well. From sweet-roasted pecans, almonds and peanuts to more exotic ones, some of the coatings feature unusual ingredients which are packed with flavor. They have ones with orange and chocolate aromas, while others feature key lime and ginger. Savory ones have thyme and salt. It's very unique and absolutely awesome. Based on what I read on their website, they've been doing this since 2000 and the experience shows. Every single sample I tried was outstanding and it lead to my fiancee and I purchasing three small bags of nuts, each different which only ran us $10. I cannot wait to bring those in to work for snacking. And best of all ,if you cannot make it to their store, which is just steps away from Davis Square at the corner of Highland and Willow, you can purchase their stuff on their website as well. But you won't get to sample them like we did in the store, which means that you'd be missing out. All in all, the store is great, it's spacious, it's clean and best of all, the staff was awesome. I can not speak of this business highly enough! I recently had a small wedding of 80 and ordered 120 bags of nuts in 4 different flavors (rosemary cashews, chocolate raspberry almonds, autumn roasted pecans, and cayenne mango cashews) at just 2.50/ bag. I decided basically on a whim (less than 1 week before!!!) that the nuts would be a nice add-on to my fall wedding held in Upstate NY. I ordered the nuts on the Monday before my wedding and picked them up Friday afternoon, and the owner even applied my own custom-ordered wedding favor stickers to the bags! Again- all for only 2.50 per bag! The guests raved over them, and apparently some were greedy and grabbed 2 or 3 bags. If I could have a do-over, I would have ordered double the amount that I did, because then maybe there would have been some left over for myself! In addition to the nuts being a cute, unique addition to my wedding, the customer service was wonderful. The owner (I think she was the owner) of the store was so kind and helpful, and she came off as being gracious to have my business... regardless of my last minute request! When I went to pick up my order, she even offered to carry the box to my car AND she gave me free coffee AND she even threw in a few extra bags of the rosemary cashews. And I've eaten a lot of nuts (you're welcome for the "that's what she said" gimme, 13 year olds). 4 stars only because I think their farmer's experience is better than the experience of the actual store. At the farmer's market, Q was super excited about showing off his product, recommending trying different kinds, and earnestly dishing samples. I'm sure if I'd wanted help at the store I could've asked for it, but it seems like the flavors that were out were way more limited than what I'd seen at the farmer's market before, and the folks behind the counter were a little on the passive side. Worth a stop, worth a nibble, worth a purchase. The sweet, the mexican chocolate, and the bananas foster were all amazing, but from what I recall of past sampling experiences it's tough to go wrong here unless you've got some sort of allergy. Walnuts. Yes. I got walnuts. I would never think I'd go to a store on a walk home from work to get nuts, but I did. I couldn't help myself. The aroma of roasting nuts smelled so good, I HAD to go in and spend three bucks on a little bag of delicious sweet and salty walnuts. I am now an addict. I feel like such a jerk. I've gone by a number of times without even really thinking to stop by, because really I'm not a huge nut fan. I mean they can be tasty and an but it's not like I'm going to be sitting at my desk unable to concentrate because I can't get candied cashews out of my mind. But I knew that the store was there, I should have at least ventured in earlier to see what was going on. And my thinking was all wrong. It's not about the nuts, that's just the canvas that they use to develop some truly amazing flavors. I mean how else do you end up with a spiced crunchy morsel that has the flavor profile of a spiced eggnog? So worth going in for a sample and picking up a small bag to snack on later. You'll love these nuts! While that sounds like the start of a bad joke sums up Q's perfectly. I've never made the time to go to the store but before they had a home in Somerville I got to try them over at the Dewey Square farmer's market. Normally I enjoy browsing farmers markets but never really buy anything. But when I came to Q's Nut stall the guy behind the counter offered me a sample of the Bananas Foster almonds. Not bad. Quite good actually. Unfortunately he didn't have anymore of the Bananas Foster in almonds but he suggested the pecans. These are the kinds of nuts I'd eat in my morning cereal. So I decided to buy a small snack bag. I went back the next week to try out their Rosemary Herb cashews. I even bought a few bags to send to my mom. For the cost, Q's is definitely pricey. $3.50 for about a 2oz. bag of nuts is expensive. I know they're not Planters or like the nuts you'd buy with a well dressed peanut on the package. Know that they're local so you'll probably pay a little bit more that goes without saying. But Q's has me nuts over these nuts and I'll keep going back for more. read more

I tried some samples at Yelp! Hop to It in Somerville last weekend, and was really happy I stopped by! I had vegan nuts which were roasted with the most delicious arrays of spices and flavors. My favorites so far were chocolate-coconut and an autumn blend that tasted of cinnamon and warmth. Edit: Ok, I just munched on a new sample of Mexican chocolate almonds as I'm writing this review, and I love them, too. There is so much flavor in these! They are roasted to perfection, so munchable. One sampling of these nuts and I knew I had to find the store that had recently opened in Somerville to get my hands on some more! Q's has lots of yummy nut varieties to choose from, including multiple flavor and vegan options. The friendly staff are very helpful in selecting the perfect taste profile for you, and offered generous samples.At $10 for 3 small bags, you get a good price for a very tasty local treat. I really liked the bananas foster and autumn roasted pecans, and I hope to go back to try out the ice cream too. Love these nuts! First tried them at the Sowa Open Market in the South End. The location is not too far from Davis Sq and there is plenty of parking if you just want to stop by quickly, get your nuts, and leave. They also have a great selection of some local treats, like Tazo chocolate. Was really happy to find that they do a gift basket for around $20 (maybe more??) with a selection of many different nuts. They come in either all cashews, all almonds, or mixed. The cashier even helped me pick out a colorful ribbon and note card! I would love to come back and try their selection of frozen treats. The (slightly horrified) bf and myself found the oasis of Q's nuts. Wondering in for some hopeful free samples and amazing sugary smells....we had arrived. This place ROCKS. We bought key lime ginger cashews and almonds coated in sesame, ginger and something sweet. Those little packages didn't stand a chance. For $7.50 we found an amazing snack that you can bring as a present for that "first time the friend is making us supper" night. Because let's be honest, you'll need something that tastes amazing that night besides the booze. Or sit at home and eat the whole bag by yourself. This is a judge free zone. I brought these back to the office all the way in California. All of a sudden people were coming to my door regularly and asking me if I had more. Others weren't so fortunate...they pleaded and begged...they opened my desk drawers and even went so far as taking apart my monitor...thinking I'd secretly stashed some inside. I have only ever eaten the rosemary nuts here, but I will say they are absolutely divine. They are seasoned perfectly! With every crunch, I fall more and more in love with deez nutz. Maybe one day, if ever back in Massachusetts, I will venture to try other flavors... But who am I kidding? With the tastiness of the rosemary, who am I to stop feeding this addiction? Scoped this place out mainly because I was creeping on a Yelper's reviews (good thing there are only 6 reviews so far, this is not weird at all) and found out about Q's. I stopped in last week and was met by a very pleasant lady who told me that there were samples of nuts and ice cream but if I wanted to try something that wasn't out, she'd certainly help me. Spicy, chocolately and even tangy nuts can be found in this little gem of a shop. My personal favorite is the Cayenne Mango pecans. Also, the burnt sugar ice cream is phenomenal. Get it. read more

I drove by it yesterday and immediate realized that I gotta check it out. After stopping by a local spot to see some friends ironically someone mentioned Q's. That sealed the deal. Back I went to the Ville to visit the family uh um I mean go check out the nuts. I walked in and was hit with the delicious smell of a new batch of chocolate coconut almonds. YES PLEASE! I sampled a few of the others after asking Q for some recommendations. They were tasty but then I tried the coconut and was hooked. Hate to admit it but the smell was better than the taste. Still yummy but the smell was just ridiculously intoxicating. Prices are high but you do get what you pay for when at a specialty store. These nuts are the BEST nuts I have ever had in my life! I am addicted to their Sweet Pecans. Yes, I can buy macadamia nuts here but I would take Q's nuts over them any day. It's the perfect amount of sweet and it has the burst of the yummy nut oil. I share them with my co-workers, friends and family. Everyone who tries it here trips out on how good they are. Right in my backyard is this magical production facility, kind of like Willy Wonka with their flavors, and best of all it's family owned which I like to support. I recently tried a garlic basil cashew nuts there that was absolutely incredible and out of this world, tasting kind of like a pesto. I love their bananas foster pecans as well and can't get enough. We were pleasantly greeted by a ripped dude who let us sample any nuts we wanted. Literally everything I sampled was delicious. I opted for the Sea Salt and Lemongrass Cashews... superb! There were some other crazy concoctions including a Chocolate and Coconut Almonds. Everything is made right in the shop. Vegan-friendly options abound. Great smells. Great tastes. Cool staff. This shop is pretty rad. It took me a while to wander in there, but I finally decided some gourmet nuts would make great xmas gifts. I use the word gourmet because 1. they are not ordinary and 2 they are not cheap. i was amazed at the variety of nuts in this little shop, varieties with lavender, yerba mate chocolate, sea salt, etc etc. and i was pleased to see a few varieties of sugar free as well. nearly all are gluten free. the big bags are $7 which is expensive since its hard to not eat the whole bag at once! the little bags are 3 for $10 and make great gifts. plenty of samples, just ask! friendly staff. win. read more

I received the box shipped via USPS priority mail today which is Tuesday. Very fast and impressive shipping. All the nuts were very good with my favorite being the Mexican chocolate almonds. Q sells T-shirts and bumper stickers so you can advertise his nuts wherever you go. Q also sells ice cream from Christina's in Inman Square, because, ya know, ice cream goes well with nuts. Q even has little variety gift packages, so you can give his nuts to that super special someone. But enough of that. We need to talk about Q's nuts themselves, because they are fantastic! They sell sweet nuts and savory nuts, so no matter what kind of nut you're craving, Q's got you covered. My personal favorite is the cayenne mango cashews, because they're a little bit of both. The chocolate raspberry and the bananas foster are also must-tries. After doing some sampling, I bought little bags of those three aforementioned flavors. Each cost about three bucks a pop. Not bad, considering those three little bags are full of some mighty serious flavor. So, are you convinced yet? You should be. My daughter and In went in today and I was surprised it was not packed with people .The man that was working was very helpful and explained the process of making the flavored nuts.
