I was surprised by how spacious it is inside. There is even an upstairs area with a bar (Queens Head Pub) and balcony views. Downstairs there is a pool table, gambling machines, and plenty of room to dance. The bartender was very friendly. I asked if they had a signature drink and he told me that The Separator has been a favorite for over 20 years. I decided to try it. It was a boozy milkshake that made me feel like a kid again. I can see why they call it The Separator because if you drink enough of it, you'll get separated from your friends. LOL! There was one bartender and just a handful of others that night, but it was a random Wednesday in December, so I wouldn't have expected too much at that early-ish hour. Once we all got there and had ordered a couple of drinks, we were able to meet the bar manager/owner who told us the history of the building and all of its incantations before becoming what it currently is. It was fascinating to hear about the 300 years of evolution that the building has gone through, and the staff there was so much fun to talk to and learn from. Also, as I would hope for most dives - the drinks were strong and plentiful. It was a great way to start out our evening.

You'll find cute Go-Go dancers downstairs and a dancefloor with a DJ spinning tunes that will make groove upstairs. The bartenders are friendly, and the drinks will put a pep in your step. There's balcony seating and drag shows. Needless to say, there is always something entertaining going on here. My brothers and I recently came here for Southern Decadence. We bought VIP Passes, so we could surpass the line and also received drink tickets. We happened to catch Chi Chi LaRue's set and had a great time dancing. I also made a new friend.
