Mani/pedi- I looked at Yelp reviews & based on those, I made an appointment. He said 12:30. I said could I come in earlier & he said 11:30. I drove up & parking lot wasn't full. Walked in & there was 1 client at pedicure & 1 at manicure- a bit concerning on a Saturday @ 11:30. I think they gave me a less experienced technician? Place was clean & they did have me wash my hands mid manicure. Used acrylic nail Emory board on my natural nails but most places do. SMH. My technician disappeared after I paid him & I wasn't sure how long I should continue sitting under fan. I really shouldn't have chosen white knowing he was inexperienced. I'm from Chicago but my boyfriend lives around here and I have been looking for a place to get my nails done in the area! So far this looks like it's the place! The technicians are good and the prices are reasonable. I came here once to get acrylics fixed because I was talked into doing a shape/design I hated at another place and more recently I got a no chip manicure. Both were great! It's definitely a "no frills" kind of place but I don't mind that at all! I just recently went again and had Juan as my tech! He was amazing! I showed him a picture and he got it exactly perfect!! I've been frequenting Q since I moved up to the Rockford area - it's A ok. I want to find another place, but haven't had the patience to do so. It's hit or miss. Some of the techs are great and some are not. The place is generally busy, but you can catch them on not so busy days as well. Generally during the week is best, pre-lunch time or after. Weekends are crazy. As I said though, sometimes my nails are awesome and sometimes their not. I got a no chip that only lasted 2 days, but some times when I get my acrylic done, it lasts forever. It's just hit or miss. They are all nice enough, but you'd think that after a year of being there every 3 weeks, that they would be a bit more welcoming to someone who is a frequent customer. I will NEVER go back to this place!! First of all the pedicure was a joke... I could have done what she did myself & saved the money! I took my daughter for her very first "professional" nail experience and it was horrible! The little girl that did her nails was just the worst! So bad in fact that my daughter's pedicure started peeling that very night!!!!!! I even sprung for no chip on her nails because it was her birthday & we were taking a trip to Disney a few days later. This was the worse exptI have ever had! I did a pedi/mani. I have not had a mani in so long because of my arthritis. I wanted to treat myself and it is horable. He nicked my cuticles and did nothing about it. Just let it bleed! I have a fungus on one of my toe nails. when I asked about it he told me that's what happens when your old!Seriously! I'm not that old!He also nicked my cuticles on my toe and whenI said ouch he didn't apologize or put any antiseptic on it. Overall, my experience at Q Nail Spa was pleasant - the location off of the shopping on route 173 is convenient, the prices aren't unreasonable and the salon fit me in on a busy day before Thanksgiving. I came in to get my gel nails removed and a new gel manicure done. My nail tech, Gia, didn't have the most customer-oriented attitude at first, but she warmed up after a bit. She barely spoke to me for the first 20 minutes of my service and it was a little bit awkward. I understand not having a lengthy conversation with your nail tech, but it's nice to have your presence acknowledged! At one point in my service, Gia was removing my gel nail polish, which was being a little bit stubborn and needed to soak more to loosen, but she decided to start lifting the polish and peeling it back. I was horrified, because I know most nail techs and individuals who regularly get their nails done know that scraping your nails forcefully like that is damaging to your nail beds. I had to ask her to not continue with what she was doing and she laughed at me as if I was being silly for making the request. Not the best way to start out your service! She warmed up a bit as the service progressed and started hating with me and did a pretty good job with my mani. The polish lasted for about two weeks, which is shorter than my usual services last. If I was in town again, I might go here again and be more careful about having my nail tech seal the ends of the mani to ensure my service lasts longer. The service was $33 and the salon does not charge for removal of a previous gel mani. read more

I live in Rockford and I used to go to a nail salon out on Perryville. Today, I went to get a full set because I haven't had my nails done for awhile only to be told the person was in the hospital. I didn't want to wait a few days, so I got on Yelp and looked at a few places. I was really scared to go anywhere because I was so afraid that I wouldn't like it. The staff is friendly and everything is so clean! It took only 30-45 minutes when it takes almost an hour and fifteen at my last salon. When I went to pay, it was 21 dollars (because I paid in cash) for my set! At my last salon it is 40 dollars! I'll be here for every fill and I highly recommend it!! Love it! read more

Q does an amazing job with my nails and is very talented. From what I have seen the entire staff is friendly and highly competent. I have also had wonderful pedicures with friends and have been very satisfied. Q Nail Spa is clean and has almost anything you may need including a glass of wine or daiquiri! I went to a salon in League City, Texas for many years and am so thrilled to find one in San Marcos that is so much like it. Walk-ins don't seem to be a problem as this spa is deeply staffed and have never seen anyone wait, but I always make an appointment. I highly recommend this spa and Q as a manicurist. read more

My mom and I have been coming here for several years. Sara and Nina are our go-to girls for our nails, pedicures, and brows. They are meticulous, timely, funny, and always a joy to be around! It is always relaxing to go there! We can make appointments pretty easily and they are flexible and willing to stay late to finish if need be. When I lived out of state I was never able to find someone to do my nails like these two ladies! Sara is the only one I trust with my brows. I am pretty particular and have done my own to retain my natural arch for years, but having trusted Sara's work, I let her do them and was really happy! I am not usually one to complain or say something negative on here, however I just received the worst pedicure that I have ever experienced. She was done in 5 minutes and basically clipped my nails and rubbed a stone on the bottom of my feet. She then proceeded to rub callus remover on to my legs. I was not pleased with my experience! I will say that they did not charge me, but I would have much rather paid and had a good experience! read more

It was one of the worst pedicures I have ever had! When a person goes to a professional place it is not suppose to hurt. She cut the cuticles on my toes in a lot of places. Scrubbed to much skin off the bottom of my feet. And when painting my nails she was digging her own nails into my toes making it very painful. I will not go back there! read more

I was very pleased. I went in to have my eyebrows waxed and a pedicure. There was no wait even though there were several customers already being helped. The atmosphere was nice, the people were nice, and both the waxing and the pedi were great. Minimal pain with the waxing. Looks great. Pedicures usually hurt just a bit, but not this time. Hauling luggage through six airports and multiple cities could've been a disaster for my nails, but they were still perfect when we finally made it home -- and for the next two weeks, even! I hadn't had a pedicure in forever and needed to unwind a bit and do something for myself. I was looking around the area for nail salons open on a Sunday afternoon and stumbled upon Q. I was surprised they were open so late on a Sunday, wanted a pedicure, checked their reviews online, and decided to give them a shot. I've driven by their business for years so I decided that today was the day! They closed at 5 p.m. so I was hoping they would allow me to get a pedicure as late as 3:45 p.m. and they were happy to take me! I was welcomed as soon as I walked in by a nice gentleman and asked to pick my color. It was busy for a Sunday evening so I waited about 10 minutes up front before being seated in the pedicure chair. I then soaked for another 10 minutes while waiting for an available nail tech. Again, I was in no rush and more concerned about their time and not mine. The spa is pretty typical of local places I've stopped in as far as decor. It was clean and techs were actively cleaning and working the entire time I was there. I wish I had gotten my nail techs name because she was nothing short of professional and amazing. She greeted me promptly and asked my name and if I had been there before. I hadn't and she said that I would enjoy it and she would love for me to just relax. That is a pretty huge departure from most nail spas where I'm usually treated like just another number. I was already pleased and at ease by this point. I opted for the $37 pedicure (can't remember the actual menu name) and my sweet nail tech got started. The sea salt exfoliation, paraffin treatment, and accompanying massages were the best I've ever had in a nail salon. My tech was concerned about my comfort level and told me to let her know if something she did hurt or if the treatments were too hot or rough. No concerns there because everything was perfect! She did a phenomenal job of shaping my short toenails and painted them to perfection. She clearly wanted everything to be the best for me and make a great impression. Mission accomplished! I generally never get a manicure due to the nature of my work, but they offered me one even though they were done for the day. I politely declined, however I will be back! They have a large service menu and I'd love to try the facial and facial waxing someday. All in all a great experience! I'll definitely give them a shot again! Went in last week. I am beginning to think their polishes are old or watered down. Several friends mentioned they don't go anymore due to the polish and poor service. I wanted to try one more time but will not go back. The color was not what the sample looked like and then 2 days with gel manicure my nails are all peeling and polish is peeling off tips. The lady who did my nails was sanding old off and scratched skin off around my nails (they're now raw) and then when I put nails in light the nail beds BURNED like heck. This does not seem right. I have gotten my acrylics filled here 4 or 5 times and every time I go , it's a 50/50 shot . I've gotten really nicely done nails before and really poorly done nails . I was quite hesitant to come here to get my homecoming nails done but I ended up going ; quite early in the morning , so there were not a lot of people in the salon . But I felt as if the technician rushed my manicure just to get it done . And I would have understood her going a little quicker if more people had been waited , but no one was waiting . and I was also a little disappointed by the lady's lack of socialization . she had asked me what I was getting my nails done for and I told her my homecoming and when I tried to carry the conversation on a little more , (because I was super excited about homecoming.) she just kept replying with "oh" . All in all , my nails did look nice for pictures and nobody could really tell they weren't exactly what I wanted , but I'm a perfectionist and I knew they weren't how I wanted them . read more
