The lady I spoke to was very friendly, knowledgeable and happy to talk to me about my skin for about 10 minutes, which I thought was very impressive considering I wasn't even planning to buy anything. It's rare to discover a place where they take genuine care with their customers and have extensive knowledge that they are willing to impart. She took real time and effort to help answer my questions and make recommendations for me. She gave me free samples of products to try at home, and suggested various treatments and other shops that would be worth visiting in my quest for perfect skin. And, what made it even better was that I didn't feel guilty when I left, having raided her shop of advice and free samples, because she seemed genuinely keen to help me and I know I'll be back to buy her products and a facial. A great place for any beauty-related problems and queries.

Mina herself is lovely. You'll always get a 'hello darling' in her thick Persian accent and she is always accommodating if you don't have an appointment. The experience started with a quick massage, some aromatherapy, and a freshly made coffee. She did some cutting then a wash of the hair (in a heated massage chair I should add). Some final touch up cuts, a style, and I was done. Not rushed but no lollygagging either. One of the stylists was trying to give away glasses of champagne; which I would have definitely taken her up on, if I didn't have to go back to work! The first time I went to V Hair Salon, I had a fantastic experience. I got extensions put in and…read morealthough at first I wasn't sure the hair matched my colour, I was reassured and proven very wrong. They were fantastic and I couldn't have been more pleased. I then asked whether it would be possible to use the same extensions and have them dyed to my natural colour with some bright blonde bits going through. I also sent pictures for reference. I got told this was possible and I was hugely looking forward to having long hair again with my new more natural tones. Unfortunately there seemed to have been a miscommunication and instead of extensions that matched my colour with the blonde, I was shown extensions of one colour - ash (almost silvery green) extensions which had had toner put on them. I should have followed my instinct that they didn't look right. The hair dresser could obviously see I wasn't sure and did say we didn't have to go ahead, but as he had been so correct the previous time, I thought i should put my trust with him once again. Sadly, this time, it did not turn out the same. My hair, which had also been toned was gold, the extensions were silvery/green with no highlights through them. I paid the 180$ for the toner (I had already paid 180$ on my previous visit for the Cost of the extensions being reapplied). So, I had now paid 360$ for hair I wasn't happy with. I left for a few hours and decided to return and express my disappointment and to see if there was anything we could do to rectify the muddy-puddle hair I now had. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration from the hairdresser - he gave me an opt out and I still went ahead and got them put in. But at the end of the day, I wasn't happy and was asking for what could Be done, even apologising for the fact that I was complaining. Instead I got told that there was nothing I could do, he felt it was similar enough to the pictures, he has in fact already bumped off 80$ for the toner he had to put on my natural hair (to match these grim coloured extensions) and let me use the same extensions before to save me money. He then proceeded to tell me that if I use straighteners on my hair, this will brighten the toner, but there still wouldn't be any darker bits. I just felt really disappointed, not being listened to (I expressed also it felt more like an ombré than a ballige) and made to feel like I was there to get anything extra I could, when in fact I just wanted to see what could be done to make them more what I actually had asked for. So, although yes, he helped me save money by not having to buy whole new set of extensions, I have had to pay him 180$ for the horrendous toner in the first place, and now have an appointment booked for 115$ elsewhere to fix the mess my hair now is. Sadly, a customer has been lost in me.

You won't be able to help becoming friends with her because she is the most cheery, colourful and interesting hairstylist you'll find. Over the couple of years that Tara has been doing my hair we've taken it from bright orange to blonde to orange with a fade to blonde then orange with a fade to pink then highlighter pink then peach then back to blonde. Admittedly, I'm one of the lucky ones whose hair will give back colour without needing to use really strong, damaging products but Tara was always honest with me. If she didn't think that my hair was healthy enough to do something I wanted then she would tell me and recommend products to use that would get my hair back to good health. You always want a hairstylist that isn't going to compromise the health of your hair to give you what you're asking for but will offer some great alternatives. If you're looking for a hairdresser in the Inner West, whether for a run of the mill cut or a wild alternative look, then definitely give Tara a try. My husband bought me a Groupon for this hair salon where I was able to get color and a cut for $89…read more After finding out the prices of hair salons in Sydney I thought it was a terrific offer. I need to clarify that this was my first time getting my hair done here in Australia, as I have just moved from Chicago, and we all hate moving salons. My appointment was at 1:30 so I arrived promptly at 1:25 and informed the hairdresser I had arrived. They brought me to a chair and asked me if I wanted water (which I accepted) and then left me. No introduction to the salon, or who would be taking care of my hair. I sat, (without a "hello" or "so and so" will be with you soon) for about 20 minutes. After that time someone finally came over and informed me she would go mix my colour. Again, no introduction (Still didn't know her name). I stopped her to explain my situation - that I was looking for change. I have been platinum blonde for too long and needed some depth. So, finally she left which was again, another 10 mins or so and came back. The entire time she was foiling me she seemed really put off that I was there. In fact, I would go as far as to say nervous maybe? No smile. I started trying to make small talk to no avail. After my hair had processed and had been cleaned I was walked over to another young girl (I think around 23) and started with the cut. I have been taking care of my hair for a long time, even told by stylists for many years that my hair takes really well to color/bleach without damage. You can imagine my surprise when this young girl turns to me and chastised me for getting highlights. Told me that my hair was in very poor condition and that I was basically an imbecile. I'm sure she was trying to be nice, or asserting her knowledge of hair... But I have worked in salons many times and I know my way around damage. is this review turning into a rant? Looks like it. Lets just say that I won't be going back here. I left feeling extremely anxious and longing for my old salon where I always felt pampered and taken care of. This Groupon failed miserably and I hate my cut. BTW - who still feather face frames these days?!
