The fish was nice but the batter was too thick. On another visit I had a steak and onion sandwich which was nice except for the gristle. The prices are reasonable and the place is very tidy and clean. Nice place to eat in the Sun and take in the views.

Not only was the cake delicious, but it had a Chicago flag on the top. :) We were very touched and extremely impressed! Needless to say, we had to visit this business to thank them for their thoughtful addition to our hostess's kind welcome. We sat down for tea and nibblies that first day, and went back at LEAST once a day every day afterwards, if just for tea and a chat. Helen and Craig are friendly, delightful, and engaging, and they run a fine business. The food is delicious. My husband especially loved the soups and ginger-blueberry scones, and I found the breakfasts and bacon sandwiches especially tasty. We would be still be going back there every day, at least once a day, if our home in Chicago was set adjacent to it....alas, we'll have to wait until our next trip to the North York Moors!!

You wouldnt expect it to be wonderful, and it isnt. For what it is though, its ok. Its a take out place with a few wooden picnic tables to sit at, although theres plenty of parking nearby if you prefer to sit in your car. They sell teas, coffees, various cold drinks, snack foods such as crisps, chocolate and so on, as well as an assortment of sandwiches and slices of (supposedly home made) cakes. Prices are pretty much what you might expect, and while its nothing special, it serves its purpose if you're out and about and feel like a snack or a drink. After many years in its current guise, the Oasis will apparently be converted into what has been described as 'a high class fish restaurant' over the next few months. Time will tell

We went through the door and headed straight for the stairs to the dining area which overlooks the harbour with a good view out to sea. I ordered Haddock, but was served what can only be described as a battered whale,...it was huge! The fish was about 12" long and very fresh, served with thick cut chips and mushy peas, with a side of fresh crispy salad and coleslaw. I ate the lot, and washed it down with a pot of tea. The only downside was having to go upstairs to pay by card, but thats only if you're like myself and forgot to get cash first. I've eaten here a few times over the years, and the staff have always been friendly, serving nice food, and in a quiet little 'tucked away' place for a bit of a break from the busy streets above.
