Patisserie D'Or has been on my bookmarks for YEARS and I just stopped by since I was finally in…read morethis area of Oakville! Honestly, my first impressions of the interior weren't great. It looks really tired and dated, in desperate need of a refresh. Interior is more small town general store as opposed to French patisserie. The refrigerated display was covered in condensation so honestly, it wasn't invited and difficult to see the cakes/tarts that were hidden behind the water droplets. I felt as though this did a HUGE disservice to the baker 'cause this definitely prevents people from being able to properly see the products. Adjacent to the display case, were croissants (chocolate, almond, plain) and pain aux raisin. Clearly some items were in demand because there were less of certain items. Plain Croissant was $4 which, based on the size isn't too bad. "Fancier" croissants were closer to the $5 range. I didn't see any fresh bread, but they had frozen bake-at-home ones in the fridge. Not sure if it was because they were sold out. I got the pain aux raisin and it was pretty good! Not super flakey, a bit more moist, but not dry either. Not super buttery. This was in the early afternoon. And the pain aux raisin was DEFINITELY better than the poor example that I had at Gouter (Etobicoke). That was tiny and not very fresh! Overall, Patisserie D'Or could've been better, but if it's in your neighbourhood, it's probably a bonus.

I recently bought 4 dark chocolate eclairs from Patisserie D'or. The taste was good, similar taste…read moreas compared to previous purchases. However, the size was definitely smaller than before. In the past, 1 box can only hold 3 pieces of eclairs and now 4 pieces can fit in. Same price as before. Since I didn't see Monica in the store for a couple times, I asked the lady who served me the whereabout of Monica. That lady told me that Monica and her husband (the French chef) are no longer working there, and she is the new owner now. That's why I noticed a few changes there. The TV was gone and they now have breakfast menu for dine in. New changes are good. Hope they will have more new baking items soon. Unfortunately, since the French chef Mr. Jean-Luc no longer the owner, why they still keep the original website from the old owner. That is misleading.

4.5 In honour of…read morereceiving my Elite 23' badge, I'll finalllly drop my review for this place lol. I visited this bakery 2-3 times in 2022, so It's probably about time I did my review. Let me start by saying there are not many authentic French bakeries outside the downtown core, so it's such a relief when you finally find one in the GTA. In comes Tradition de France. Right when you walk in, you are greeted with a "Bonjour!". They offer a wide variety of items but I mostly just come for the croissants and more specifically now, the almond croissants. I'm not gonna lie, they're pricey. It's $6 for one almond croissant BUT, take a look at my pictures. The size of one of these is my face+. You're insane if you think I personally, could finish one of these in one sitting lol. This is defs a two-part pastry lol. This croissant is so big and does not look like your average croissant but boy is it GOOD. It's buttery, no fake almond extract taste present and the almond filing texture is just right. It's filled to the point where the bottom of the croissant gets a little soggy, which is exactly what I look for in an almond croissant. The plain butter croissant is also perfect. Flaky and buttery with all the layers. Again, it's so hard to find authentic French bakeries outside of Toronto, so Tradition de France is a good place to start, if you're looking to get your croissant fix.

What a banger. Saw…read moreit on a list of top bakeries in the world so, naturally, I had to pop in. The wait was 5-7 minutes so it wasn't too bad. Cashier mentioned sometimes it was up to 30 minutes due to uptick in popularity. The mango croissant was unlike I ever tasted in life. I had to go back and ask how was each layer so flakey. The owner said they import their butter from New Zealand. Didn't know New Zealand had butter like that.

A nice bonus is that if you order six or more pastries, the order becomes tax-free, which is great if you want to try a variety of items. We tried the "Almond Croissant", "Pistachio Croissant", "Crème Brûlée Croissant", "Honey Cake", "Lychee Raspberry Tart", and "Cheesecake. "My favourite was definitely the Lychee Raspberry Tart; it was fruity, creamy, and very balanced. The Honey Cake was my second favorite, although I personally would have preferred it plain without the mango passion cream on top. The Crème Brûlée Croissant was a bit too sweet for my taste, while the Almond Croissant and Pistachio Croissant were good but more simple. The Cheesecake had a nice creamy cheese layer, though the almond cake base was slightly too sweet for me. Overall, it's a great bakery if you enjoy creative pastries and trying different flavours.

They have recently partnered up with Balzac's Coffee and offer their coffees. They have cute and small cafe with a few chairs available inside and 2 tables outside. Finally visited on a Saturday afternoon and got a strawberry cloud cup and an original cheesecake…read more I docked one star because the pricing for the cloud cup is pretty steep. I guess with how things are going these days this is pretty "standard". *shrug. With that being said, the cloud cup was delicious. They use a jam made in-house and the cheesecake layers are the original cheesecake. It all meshed together nicely and I appreciated that it wasn't overly sweet. They recently changed the packaging for these and I do think it's cuter than the previous packaging. My one other thing I need to mention is the sticker they use on the packaging. It doesn't not come off easily. You need to peel it off to open the container and the sticker just comes apart and leaves behind residue. You know what I'm talking about lol. It doesn't just smoothly come off and is hella annoying. The original cheesecake is on par with the other big players like Uncle Tetsu and Supermoon. Taste and texture is exactly what you'd expect. So it's nice to finally have this option in the Oakville area. They have a loyalty program where you can buy 6 cheesecake and get the 7th for free. So make sure you get your card and stamp! I will defs be back but maybe will limit my purchase to either just a cloud cup or just a cheesecake lol.
