Like my colleagues, I know almost every guest by first name. I get to look after closing the pool weekdays. I also have the pleasure of teaching swimming lessons for 3 month olds to adults. The building is a bit dated, but the locker rooms are new. I love the whirlpool, myself. It's helpful to have that and the dry sauna for recovery time after working out or spin class. There is an intimacy that you don't get at other local gyms.

I was paying $150/mo for my gyms in Tampa so your $85 with my company discount doesn't scare me. At all. I was prepared to sign a membership and grab a personal training package because being a Covid nurse has really thrown my fitness into a downward spiral and I've been trying to recoup on my own since I've moved to Holland. I have no qualms about prioritizing my fitness and I really enjoy the accountability of having a trainer, plus they have group fitness classes and I sure do love me some group training (ex Burn Bootcamp member. Someone please open a Burn in Holland. Please!) So I go in. The dude that checked me in was nice enough. I told him I signed up for a day pass. He said okay and enjoy your workout. Like OBVIOUSLY it's my very first time here. There are multiple floors and rooms to this place so I was pretty shocked when I asked where everything was that nobody offered me a tour. He just said "the locker room is downstairs" okay bro. Whatever. Needless to say that the indifference was noted and I'll be bringing it back to my work peers. Just because we get a corporate discount doesn't mean it's worth using. They have a great variety of equipment and different rooms, classes, etc but they have no interest in customer service. Holland people: DM me your favorite gym and why! I have a throwaway membership at PF for the time being and THEY'RE even nicer than MVP was and I'm seriously only paying $10 like wth.

So I did not. I approached her twice and she did not talk to me. The third time, she did and was extremely rude and accusatory of me running a business out of her gym. She told me she would speak to the other owners to allow me to record exercise videos and get back to me quickly. She didn't. I called the gym a week later and left her a message. She didn't call me back. Poor leadership and even worse management skills. I wouldn't go back to this place. Was like going back in time. In a bad way.

It has been my "go-to" gym since. I have found the people who work there are pleasant and helpful and the other members have always been friendly to me and nice. I get greeted each time I go in, by employees and members, I feel welcomed and wanted there. I get encouragement from the members and I give back as good as I get. Its a small gym but suits my needs, the only thing it doesn't have is a hot tub,, that would be great specially in the winter time--- just a suggestion!

Kathy Kerber of Persensa is a gifted healer. Don't get me wrong. She does not engage in voodoo…read more She is a Certified Trainer in Hanna Somatics, a scientifically based system of using simple movements to retrain the brain and the body to release tension that causes pain and illness. Before I had my sessions with Kathy, I had been going regularly to a chiropractor for pain from neck, shoulder and back tension, as well as a weak hamstring. After one session with Kathy, my shoulder and neck tension was gone. Following the second session, my back pain went away. By the third session, I eliminated my nagging hamstring issue. With the instruction and CD from Kathy, I am now on my own and quite confident that I can continue to do the tension-release moves that will keep me healthy and younger. The best part is that you can do Somatics in a chair, the car, standing up...or lying down. I work a lot at a computer, so I just do Somatics in a couple of minutes in my chair at work, and I never let tension build up in my neck and shoulders. It is wonderful to be able to self-correct and heal. If you want to eliminate or reduce the cost of regular visits to chiropractors and massage therapists, I highly recommend that you work with Persensa's Kathy Kerber. You'll be empowered to manage your health through a movement system that makes you feel great.

Kathy Kerber of Persensa is fantastic! She has taught me how to release tight muscles in my neck,…read moreshoulders, and back like nothing else I have tried. If you are not familiar with the Hanna Somatics approach, it involves learning how to feel internally and contract problem muscles, and then release them very slowly. This might sound trivial -- like those annoying and tedious progressive relaxation exercises. But this approach is quite different in that it directly addresses sensorimotor amnesia, where certain muscles stay tight all the time (due to an injury, for example) but your brain stops feeling the tightness in the muscle itself. Instead, you may develop chronic pain issues elsewhere, such as areas that are fed by nerves that pass under the muscle that you no longer realize is perpetually contracted. If you have had trigger point bodywork, then you are probably familiar with this already. In my case, doing Somatics exercises works better than trying to address my own trigger points using a Theracane (which sometimes makes my trigger points worse). If you are already familiar with Somatics, I can say with confidence that Kathy is a superb practitioner. I have worked with 4 different Somatics practitioners -- including one in San Francisco with several dozen 5-star Yelp reviews -- and Kathy is by far the most effective. The other practitioners I have seen rely on teaching you a standard set of exercises and seem to run out of steam if those don't suffice or if they hurt. Kathy, by contrast, is much better able to adapt exercises because of her superb familiarity with anatomy, and because of her perseverance, humility, and problem-solving mentality. She also frankly works harder. She creates custom home exercise instructions for me after each session that include extremely helpful anatomical illustrations to help me learn which muscles I am learning to release. These instructions are nothing like the fill-in-the-blank copies physical therapists have given me in the past. The homework instructional guides Kathy creates after each session are so thorough and tailored to my particular needs that they alone have helped me achieve breakthroughs in learning to sense and release very subtle muscles, such as the ever-troublesome scalene and levator scapula muscles in my neck. It wouldn't surprise me if she spent an hour or more just creating some of these documents for me. I don't know about you, but I've never had a practitioner do something like that. You owe it to yourself to give Kathy a try.
