Great location on Bury New Road with ample free parking. This is my second gym choice for Pure Gym and the brand does what it says it does for the price, offers good quality, affordable 24/7 gym.
There is a huge open space with all the free weights and machines. Another room has most of the cardio machines, a spinning area tucked into one corner, although fully exposed and their one classroom an an adjacent corner walled off for the most part.
The down side to ALL Pure Gyms is their changing room facilities, which for me, on the way to work, is vitally important. There are six individual shower cubicles and the usual 2 sinks and one hairdryer / mirror area. On a busy morning, trust me I am NOT the only guy trying to make myself look respectable (try as I might!)... The Gents is upstairs which is a bizarre type of house stair case making me wonder about a sharp exit in the event of an evacuation, but I assumed it passed its building regs and H&S inspections?
The lockers are basic and not well designed in the changing room, as 'sods law' always comes up trumps and the only other guys changing at the same time as you have the locker next door to you... what does that always happen? So here there is no additional bench in the middle to throw your stuff onto to get out of the way! If only they would change their business model and improve the changing rooms as I have complained before in the urban exchange location about queuing for the showers, toilets and wash bowls ... where my concerns have been listened to, but by seeing the design of other locations I now know only lip service is paid to my complaint as the is clearly their business model and the only change they will make is adding 2 entry/exit doors to allow a bigger turn over of people in/out of the premises with no thought for the changing room facilities... otherwise it would be a 4 or 5 star place. read more
