Pupusas Revueltas and a side of Curtido & Salsa
George G.

Decided to give this Authentic Pupuseria a try. I ordered two Pupusas Revueltas which were nicely filled with cheese/meat. The restaurant was busy so I waited a while for my food , it was worth it!

This place was not at all what i expected. The food was so cheesy and had absolutely no flavor. I am never going back. It's hard to find a decent place around here. If you can avoid this place do it. I recommend going to Carls Jr over this place.

Salvadorian pupusas for lunch! 1 queso con frijoles & 1 rueveltas at Comalapa in Anaheim, CA. http://Facebook.com/GoodEatsStacy

This was the first time I had ever tried pupusas. I was referred to this place by two co-workers who highly recommended it. It was only 5-10 minutes away from my work so I decided to try it. It's a little hole-in-the-wall that's located next to a Hookah Smoke Shop. When I first walked in, there was only one other table being occupied by a family. They have about 8 booths total, and a TV playing. It appeared to be a husband & wife establshment (husband is the greeter/cashier/server, wife is the cook). The menu does not come in English so I asked him which pupusas he recommended. He was very helpful and brought out the cabbage and salsa to put on top! I got one queso con frijoles (bean & cheese) and one rueveltas (beef, bean & cheese). they were a fairly decent size with lots of fling inside! I was only able to eat 1-1/2 of them. They are also reasonably priced. I believe 2 pupusas and 1 coke came out to $6. I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving good pupusas in the Anaheim area.

As good as the food is, the rude service makes it not worth it. The person there didn't miss a chance to be condescending or to "correct" us

So the guy told me they were cook in the morning and I was there like 7:30 p.m so I told them that please give me another order or nuegados cause those taste fresh and he told me that the plantain where in the order so I have to pay them . I ask the guy where is a manager or owner and he act like didn't heard me . I told him I will pay them but I don't want them , then the guys was happy about it ? But this is sad to pay for a food that it tastes like old bananas or plantain. it was a really sad experience . They don't want to be responsible for a bad food they sale ? Is our money , our hard work , and if we desire to try something that you don't cook at home , it should be worth your money right ? I feel very disappointed and sad . I think I will never go back to that place ! My apologies to the owners of this place but the guys that works there don't care about making people feel happy about your food . They don't care about clients , they just want to make their hours and leave . I hope they make it better one day . We are Salvadorian and we should be more kind to people . We are human beings you know ! So sorry for saying all this but it has to be said . Thank you

I never had a real authentic pupusas before so this was my first time trying it. Today, I went here with my boyfriend and we both order queso con frijoles (cheese & beans) & pupusas de chicharron con queso (pork rinds & cheese). I love their salsa really good kick and spicy. Queso con frijoles: The pupusas were perfectly golden and filled to the brim with melted cheese and savory refried beans. Each bite was a delightful blend of flavors and textures. The masa was soft and slightly crispy on the outside, while the filling was rich and comforting. Paired with the tangy curtido (pickled cabbage) and a drizzle of salsa roja, they were an explosion of taste that I couldn't get enough of! I would give it a 5/5 best pupusas I have for this one. pupusas de chicharron con queso: pupusas has a lovely golden color. I was a bit surprised to find that they were served with some pork rinds, which I wasn't prepared for. I'm so used to seeing pork rinds in chips not in food. I'm not really used to that ingredient, so it added a layer of flavor that just wasn't to my personal taste. I would give it a 3/5 since I'm not used to pork rinds in pupusas if you like pork rinds cooked in pupusas then this dish is for you! We got it in takeout & took 5 minutes to wait. The service was fast & employee is very nice and friendly. There is plenty of parking. The store is very spacious, clean, and great atmosphere for a Salvadoran restaurant. I would definitely come back here to get some delicious pupusas!

They have a local feel when you walk inside. There is a little bit of a wait, and I think they make the food to order, so it's hot and fresh when you receive it. I recommend that if you plan to take out, call ahead to place your order to save time. They are known for their pupusas, which I got on my first visit. I was curious after reading some of the positive reviews. I ordered the revuelta and chicken with cheese. Both had great flavors and would consider getting them again. The flavorful, crispy empanadas were among my favorites. I got the carne (beef) and spinach with cheese empanadas and loved them. The perfectly fried shell and flavorful filling. Their Salvadoran tamales are prepared in the traditional style, with a flavorful filling and soft, moist masa, wrapped in banana leaves rather than corn husks. I love Mexican-style tamales (especially homemade), so this was a new experience trying Salvadoran-style tamales. I think most people will order takeout, but there's a moderately sized dining area with tables. It has a local feel and a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was kind and provided great service. The prices are fair for the quality of the food. I still can't believe I waited this long to visit Nancy's. I can't wait to come back and try other items on the menu. Note: There is a little charge for using credit cards, so cash would be better if you want to avoid the CC charge.

As soon as we walked in, it felt like home. It's a small shop like many authentic Salvadoran places, which honestly made it feel even more legit. I had read in some reviews that the main complaint was the wait time, but our food actually came out pretty quickly. And honestly, if you want authentic Salvadoran food, a little wait is part of the deal since most things are made fresh and by hand. Now let's talk about the pupusas. I ordered the queso con loroco and wow... they basically melted in my mouth. I originally planned to share one with my partner, but that plan quickly went out the window and I ate both myself. No regrets. I had the combination plate and my partner had a breakfast plate. Both were delicious. Safe to say we'll definitely be making the drive again.
