There was a mix-up the first time and they did the basic pet treatment. But they came back, did the advanced (deeper) enzyme treatment I had originally booked, and refunded me for the hassle, which I really appreciated. Both times the techs were pleasant and efficient. I also appreciated that, prior to treatment, they used a black light to thoroughly assess the problem. One thing to know is that the smell can actually get worse for a few days after deep enzyme cleaning (which really surprised me!). Keeping the windows closed at first, then airing out, running two air purifiers on turbo, and vacuuming thoroughly really helped. Vacuuming is so important because it lifts leftover VOC particles that cause "ghost smell" even after enzyme treatment. I also used an odor powder (Rocco & Roxie) over the carpet, left it for 24 hours, then vacuumed again. Blocking off the area with aluminum foil and barriers helped stop my cat from re-marking the same spots too. In the end, Citrus Fresh helped me save my carpet. I'd recommend them -- just know to stick with it, ask for the advanced treatment and be patient if you have a tough pet mess like mine!

He completed the assessment on Saturday and I had a new mini-split unit in place on Tuesday. The work was professional and efficient. I could stop there, but a few days after the work was complete, my water heater unexpectedly failed. I told you it was a well loved home. My usual plumbing service failed to show up to inspect the leak, so I called Travis. He put in a work order for me within hours and two days later I had a new water heater in place and could resume nice hot showers again. My installation tech was fantastic and explained everything to me. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with Moncrief and Travis. Appt was easy to schedule and I was informed a $199 fee would be due for the trip. Having lived on this earth 50 years, my experience has been trip fees are applied to work performed- NOT SO WITH MONCRIEF. First tech arrived with the wrong size ladder and couldn't service our location and immediately left- no problem, mistakes happen. The lack of same day follow-up from scheduling was a surprise. A text appeared next day that someone was on their way. Tech quoted $363 to clear the line and clean pan and informed the $199 fee was on top of that. I asked abt the maintenance agreement and he informed he would quote but they were absolutely inflexible to view these agreements or transactions together. Why would I reward the business charging me $563 for a drain line clear and pan clean with 2 annual contracts? Spoke to someone else but needed to transfer me to another "department". I led service and sales in a Fortune 500 and was never this inflexible with valued clients. I asked that my recorded call be shared across the org with feedback on their practices, I didn't need to route their org.

The short-term returned at 27.6 pCi/L and the long-term at 12.1 ± 1.6 pCi/L. These results are horrifying! After some research on mitigation specialists, I decided on Smart Space Atlanta. Within 48 hours after installation of the mitigation system, which was pretty much custom since I requested they conceal the system running it through my floors and ceiling versus outside alongside my house, my radon average was 0.3. Fast forward to two years later, I tested two separate areas of the basement with short-term test conducted by Alpha Energy Labs. The room furthest away from the mitigation system returned at Less than 0.9 pCi/L and the main area of the returned at less than 0.7 pCi/L. These are pretty amazing results!
