Please don't be persuaded to buy a place here! The sprawling property is a big sell, but consider…read moreeverything that goes into the hospitality aspects of a great stay a far. Some of the following complaints may seem small and possibly stood to be overlooked, but the net of all of the issues became worth mentioning particularly if you are looking for a long term investment. I have stayed here several times and have seen a degradation in the hospitality. Upon check-in, phone wasn't working and one of our room's toilet did not flush. Service at the restaurant is extremely slow. First night at dinner, seven of us sat at a table for four because we could not be accommodated. Took 45 minutes for our meals to arrive following day for dinner (waited more than 30 minutes for a burger at lunch). Currently staying at the resort in Nuevo Vallarta and had to ask for housekeeping to clean my room four times yesterday, only to finally get it cleaned at 7 o'clock in the evening. Today asked for towels and was delivered towels in a zip tie. Witnessed a tray of dirty dishes at the end of the hall for two days, and friends of mine who have been members for close to 20 years have never been given an upgrade despite all the people they referred to this property. It is shameful! Went to complain at the front desk five hours ago only to be told the manager Allen, couldn't address us as there were several families ahead of us in line to complain. I was told he would call me. It is now been over five hours and still no contact from anyone. I realize it is a busy time of year for this property, but this is unacceptable. Lastly, tried to locate contacts for executive team to elevate said complaints. Having been someone in executive management for many years, I would think that there woukd be access to hearing all levels of feedback. There is no means to locate this. I hope the executives that have the success of their properties in their best interest not only see this, but remedy the ability to gauge the success and failures of their properties.

Extremely Disappointed After 30 Years of Loyalty…read more We've been coming to the Grand Mayan for 30 years, and while we've seen gradual decline over time, this visit has truly made us question if we'll ever return. We were enjoying our day when we returned to our room and noticed a strong, awful chemical smell. looking around, we realized there was visible mold in the hallway outside our room--poorly covered up with paint. The smell had to have been a chemical spray they were using to "fix" the mold issue. The smell was causing headaches and nausea which is very concerning with children in the room. Upon The staff acknowledged the issue and told us we needed to move rooms, but said there was only one room left in the entire hotel. Because of that, our family had to be split up into different buildings. Worse yet, there was no apology, no compensation, and honestly--no care. It's incredibly disappointing that after such a long relationship with this property, the overall response was so indifferent. We had to cancel our Father's Day dinner plans because we were stuck waiting for bellmen, repacking everything, and figuring out our new rooms. This was supposed to be a vacation, and instead we were dealing with a health hazard and logistical nightmare. As we moved, other guests on our floor came out and mentioned they had just started noticing the same smell. So this wasn't just our room--it's clearly a broader problem. Sadly, it feels like the hotel has lost its heart. After all these years, it's frustrating to feel like no one really cares anymore.
