My band and I were recently on Pulse's Saturday Sandwich show. - We had a lot of fun!
Situated in what I can only describe as a teeny tiny wee house in Barrhead, Pulse is community radio at its finest; with warm, friendly hosts, a packed roster of varied shows and the genuine aim to showcase local happenings, including musicians local to Glasgow. The guys from Saturday Sandwich got in touch after catching our set on STV Glasgow. - Would we like to come on the show? Of course we would!
The set-up of the show was informal. We were made to feel really welcome and we were given the freedom to play for as long as we'd like to and to stay for as long as we like to. Since we'd traveled from Stirling, we stayed for the duration and played several of our own songs over the course of the show. There's a different theme for the show every week which makes things really fun. Ours was 'spirit.' (For instance, the spirit of man.') Luckily, we were able to work a few of our songs in to the theme. Excitingly for us, the guests on the show pick the theme for the following week's show!
As a band, we really felt involved in the show from start to finish, and the hosts were really appreciative of us taking part. The hosts are talented musicians themselves and it was nice to hear them play some live music throughout the show. So, it was only right that we ended the show with a good old-fashioned jam. And then we were on our way, brimming with community spirit!
Unfortunately, there isn't a listen again feature for the station at the moment so we couldn't relive the experience. Hopefully, there is soon! read more
