However, what broke it for me was when the owner told me he didn't have time to read any comics himself. I had stopped in one afternoon after work out of curiosity and subsequently struck up a friendly shop talk conversation with him. He seemed knowledgeable enough about the broad strokes of comics both as a medium and an industry, but I couldn't get past his lack of reading. Would you go to a mechanic that didn't drive a car? Would you eat at a nice restaurant if the chef only ate PB&Js? In a niche industry like comics, people crave community, and I just didn't feel it at Journey into Comics.

The card selection is the largest for sealed product that I've seen in awhile, and even though they didn't take any of my trade-ins I happily plopped down some money! They had an amazing bargain on some precons so I bought two and a Sonic Secret Lair. Great value and huge selection for a small shop. You definitely get more than you would anywhere else in town. So much to see and take in from comics old and new to toys to other collectibles PLUS check out their floor!! It is the single greatest floor I have ever seen. It consists of comic book covers (facsimiles) under a laminate surface. I spent a lot of time simply looking at all of it. The owner is a super friendly and knowledgeable guy and he is a hybrid collector spanning old (me) and newer (him). He brought me up to speed on a lot of what's been going on in the comics world and biz since I used to collect on a regular basis in the 1980's. So much has gone on. I didn't purchase anything but I came away with a lot of information from a most personable expert. I truly enjoyed chatting with him and soaking in all of the atmosphere. In addition to a great selection of vinyl, they also have some useful supplies available for dedicated record collectors. sometimes record stores can be "dusty" this one is well lit superbly organized, and a joy to visit. I've never been in this store that it hasn't been enjoying heavy foot traffic from other audio fans. This of course is a positive sign that the inventory here is worth coming in and having a look.
