Momentum Tire & Car Care Center - Waiting Room

Momentum Tire & Car Care Center

This was my second time going to this business- the first time they were going to charge me ~$200…read morefor a workup saying it could be all these issues wrong with the car. Thankfully, I went somewhere else who diagnosed it as a knot in the tire and only charged me $40 for a comparable tire- no charge for "work up". This second time I went here, I was running out of daylight with work and everything and accidentally went back to this place (I couldn't remember the other place I had been to that was good, and ended up putting the wrong thing in the GPS, but figured how bad can it be). Momentum calls themselves a family run business but do not let that fool you. I got two second opinions about my car- and some of the things Momentum recommended I did not need done. Not only this, they wanted to charge me over $2,300 for the issues. The two other places I called and asked said it should be under 1K and to go see them. Thankfully, I was able to go back into Momentum and asked them to stop the repairs. At that point they had already done three tire replacements (which I did know I needed so this was fine), and I asked them to finish with the fourth but not to do all the other things they were going to do. I ended up paying $520 for new tires, which I didn't think was that bad. However, I did not appreciate the fact that these tires retail for $70 at Walmart, and Momentum charged me $88 per tire, and only after the fact did they tell me it was also a $30 fee per tire. Plus tax on top of this. This morning, I went to one of the said local shops I spoke with, and they told me the tires were a low quality brand (opposite of what momentum told me), and also said they could have done comparable tires for $365 total. I also got what actually needed done for much less of a price. Needless to say, do not go to Momentum Tire. They are crooks and should be ashamed of themselves. I am not sure if they see a girl and take advantage, but there were older people there too and I can't imagine how much money they are unnecessarily poaching from people. I also found out they have gotten in trouble for price gouging in the past and have that reputation. Thankful I spoke up and saved myself minimum 1K even though I lost some on the tires, but wow, awful experience. Don't let friendliness fool you.

I have had some work done at Momentum in Morganton a couple of times within the last 9 months: oil…read morechange, oil pressure sensor replaced, serpentine belt replaced, NC state inspection. They were very professional, and the work was done to my satisfaction. What made Momentum stand out and earn a great review instead of a good review for me was for following events that took place yesterday. I noticed a severe oil leak just after taking my almost 16-year-old dog to the vet to be euthanized. A sad day to start and then more stress heaped on with my first oil leak on a car I have had for 7 years - coincidentally just after trying out a new garage that had over charged me and tried to sell me several services that I knew I didn't need. After noticing the oil leak, I immediately took my vehicle back to the garage (new place in town - they still have balloons out front) I had decided to try out with an oil change one week earlier. As I write this review, I have now had 2 bad experiences at the "new garage" and left very unsatisfied both times: both when I picked up my car after the oil change and when I took it back after noticing the oil leak. I then decided to take my vehicle back to Momentum which was the last garage I had work done before the unsatisfactory oil change. I didn't have an appointment yesterday, but they fit me in since the oil leak was severe, and I was a returning customer. Not only did they fit me in, but they also found 2 different potential leak spots. They warrantied one which could have been a result of the oil pressure sensor they had replaced months ago, and they did some deep dive analysis on other potential leak spots, tightening up what seemed to need it. They went the extra mile and restored my faith in a garage. I had two negative experiences at the new garage I had tried out and a bad day in general. Now I know the first place I will take my vehicle from now on. No more trying out "the new place in town". My go-to garage from now on is Momentum. Thanks for restoring my faith in a local business and making a bad day a little better.

On a recent road trip my car broke down on the highway about 20 miles from this Firestone location…read moreon a Saturday afternoon. I wanted to go to Firestone because I knew they would be open on Sunday so I called AAA and had my car towed to this location. When I arrived the man at the counter was super nice, he had my car assessed right away, and informed me they would have my car ready that same day. Absolutely amazing! I was only planning to be in Hickory overnight so I opted to leave my car overnight for pickup Sunday morning. They called me Saturday evening to let me know all was good and my car was ready. I picked my car up Sunday morning and there was a different guy at the counter. He was super nice and even showed me the bent pulley that caused my serpentine belt to remove itself. Nobody wants their car to break down, but thanks to this Firestone it was actually a great experience. I highly recommend this shop!

Requested that the spare was also rotated in…read more After being flagged over by the technician and told the spare wasn't the same, I said, just to forget the rotation all together to the technician... When time came to pay, the disingenuous sales associate Jimmy insisted the rotation happened, which it did not. I was charged $275 (which included a 15% discount for using my Firestone card) for the oil change, and new filters, plus a tire rotation (which never happened) ?...They must be crazy!I was standing at the observation window during the service, precisely because I wanted to make sure my request was executed. Long story short, I believe Firestone is more concerned with servicing fleet vehicle it has contracts with, then servicing the local community. I will not ever go there again, and will discourage anyone I speak with about my experience, and to go elsewhere...Took my Lexus 470, which has similar oil capacity to Strickland brothers and was charged $90 (with a coupon)! that makes way more sense.

Both were patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure she felt comfortable and confident with her decision. As a parent, I really appreciated how supportive and respectful they were...no pressure, just great service. Highly recommend this dealership, and definitely ask for Vince and Art if you're looking for a smooth car-buying experience.

This dealership is the absolute worst. I purchased my car just 3 months ago and have already had to…read morebring it back over 3 times for electrical issues that remain unresolved. Getting the vehicle repaired is nearly impossible unless you're prepared to waste hours sitting at the dealership. They claim they can only offer a rental once they diagnose the issue. That's convenient. How many visits do you need to diagnose the same issue? I work full-time and have a small child to care for -- I cannot keep returning again and again for the SAME issue, and I don't have the option of going without transportation. There is no way this car ever passed a true "certified pre-owned" inspection. They sold me a vehicle with obvious, ongoing issues -- and when I asked them to buy it back, they said they would, but only if I agreed to roll over $3,600 in negative equity. In other words, I get punished for their dishonesty. And the kicker? A manager actually tried to persuade me to remove my last 1-star review in exchange for a free oil change. How about FIXING MY CAR instead of bribing customers to stay quiet? I'll make sure everyone I know hears about my experience and why they should avoid this place. I'll also share it across every platform I can. I've always stuck with Toyota, but I made the mistake of giving Hendrick a chance -- never again.
