We intentionally hired a small business and POC for our pre-wedding photos. Thanh, our photographer, was responsive, kind and experienced. I made sure to confirm that he was familiar with our photoshoot location in Golden Gate Park, and he suggested additional locations as well as great tips for day of (e.g. bring a helper to hold bags, extra shoes, hairspray, etc). We do not like being the center of attention or take ourselves too seriously, but Thanh's guidance during the shoot helped get us going until we could take more of a lead. We had a stress-free and enjoyable time. Thanh went above and beyond by offering to meet us at City Hall shortly after our morning session, where he expertly navigated the building and captured stunning photos. He even joined us for lunch at home and downloaded all the photos of the day. Thanh's expertise made our families comfortable and resulted in precious memories. I hired Thanh from Thumbtack for my mom's 65th birthday to capture this milestone's memories. But unfortunately We did not have a positive experience with Thanh: - Despite asking numerous times via text, verbally and numerous times during the session, for portrait pictures, he did not take any. - Even though Thanh had top of the line equipment, the photos lacked basic vision of the subject. By this I mean, he did not pay attention to the angel, background, or if anything is blocking the subjects. 95% of the pictures are taken from a side angel where faces aren't properly seen. Had the proper angel been paid attention to, we wouldn't end up with pictures that have the bathroom in the background, or wires and worst of all garbage. I had specifically pointed out live what to pay attention to and to ensure these are not in the picture and yet we ended up with poor quality results. - He had mentioned that he would edit a small number of pictures as part of the package, but he asked for the full amount to paid in advance of completing the editing and ultimately did not edit the pictures. - In fact, pictures taken by our phones and selfies are much better than the ones I had paid a "professional Photographer" to take. - At last the outrageous part was that he quoted $300 on thumbtack with $200 balance due ahead to ensure booking and $99 after, but via text message he increased it to $400 total and asked me to pay $200 after the event. Not only I ended up with horrible experience but was cheated on the initial agreed upon amount as well and was harassed to make the payment. Please watch out and I do not recommend Thanh for your special event. read more

He messaged / picked up calls very promptly and was always available for a chat. On the day of the event, he messaged me as soon as he left for the event and also updated me with his ETAs.
