I do most of my banking online, but was in the areas and decided to visit the Folsom branch. I was helped by the nicest person, Eric. He was so helpful, patient, and friendly. I forgot to bring the needed paperwork. He offered to print them and helped verify account info I couldn't find on the provident app. He helped me get everything done and explained what to expect next. My dad and I drove an hour to get to this branch. It's the closest one to us. We were kindly greeted by the teller whose name has escaped to me. We had a few requests that required their attention and he was very kind in trying to help us with our requests. However, when he knew that it was something we would need further assistance with, and also being mindful of the line growing, he handed us off to another gentleman named Daniel. Daniel was knowledgeable, professional, spoke clearly and slowly so that my dad could understand and that I could translate, and helped us get everything done so that we would not have to make several trips back to fix things that could have been done in one visit. The bank is clean, comfortable, and they even offer options for hot coffee and tea in the waiting area. I am always amazed at the customer service that my family receives at the Folsom branch. Everett has always went out of his way to make us feel like family. I've been frustrated with PCU for a long time. I loathe their "revamped" online banking and I refuse to update to the new mobile banking app. I shit you not that they made many very shitty revisions to their online banking environment and it is WORTHLESS. I HATE that I can't accomplish what I want. Some of the obnoxious revisions: *see-through banking data (you can see the effing decorative background through your financial data) - I have ZERO desire to look at your stupid "pretty" background - I do NOT want transparent data screens *your full name is shown at the top of the screen for every page you view - ZERO privacy if you need to look at your banking online and you do not have a privacy screen and are in a public environment *can't select the dollar amount of the transaction just to keep your place while you balance your checkbook - if you do, the whole effing excessive multiple line transaction detail pulls up and blocks your view of your other transactions *too many blasted scrolling windows - this is not social media - I do not want your obnoxious promos and pictures distracting me from serious business *their pages get hung up too easily for too long trying to load *sign-on window buttons are too close to the typing fields, too easy to lock yourself out *sign-on window does NOT have a feature to show your typed password for proofreading before clicking "enter", too easy to lock yourself out *tiny, spread-out font is easy to get lost *excessive hyperlinks are excessively distracting and it is much harder to focus on what you need to see (and it is not the font size for my monitor and window browser because their routing and banking numbers are GIANT *IT IS JUST PURE SHIT. I am considering moving my money to a different institution after 25+ years. The interface is that bad. Absolutely horrendous shit just trying to please the segment of society that needs excessive stimuli and constant identity changes. read more

Worst customer service and policy's I've experienced at a bank in some time. After coming with all necessary paperwork to close out a small car loan for my deceased father they were unwilling to even disclose the amount owned,or open accounts. I wanted to open a savings account. Nothing fancy. Planned a set amount to go into account for future travel. I made an appointment. I'm 65 and believe me not my first bank account. Girl calls me and tells me all the things to bring (standard and also listed on website). Then tells me to unlock my credit with experian. Now this is weird as I am not applying for credit. How would she even know I lock my credit file? Even if innocent still intrusive. Irritated me to no end. Time to find another bank. read more

They seem so sleepy at the front counter. The staff are quite junior and sometimes a manager will step in to help and make the experience a little less painful. I have autopay on my account and on numerous occasions the auto payment stopped- who knows why. Quite troublesome to fix again and again. We recently moved to Folsom and were looking for a Credit Union that meets all our requirements for a banking institution. With a little bit of research, it became very obvious very quickly that Provident was the one. And it was further proved correct through all of the experiences with Provident since then - from opening accounts working with just the most delightful, professional and knowledgable person - Jennifer Carter - in the Iron Point branch (more on Jennifer a bit later) to all four of my calls to the customer support line for various questions and transactions. Everyone of the four representatives I spoke to was very courteous, helpful and responded to the call very quickly with very little hold time. When we went into the branch 3 weeks ago, Jennifer was extremely patient and thorough as we worked through a variety of questions to determine the right accounts to open. Then late last week, I had to go back into the branch to switch account types and Jennifer refunded me the charge for the box of checks that I had already ordered since the type of account I was switching to came with free checks and she also told me to call her if I get charged for a monthly fee in August since I will be meeting all the requirements for free checking by late August and she would reverse it. Now, THAT is customer service !! I have always liked banking at credit unions instead of large banks since the experiences are so much more personable and Provident just kicks it up a notch. I cannot say enough good things about Provident Credit Union (PCU). We opened up an account after my wife tried to refinance a car loan that was at double digits interest at her bank, but we contacted PCU , they helped my wife become a member and then refinanced her car loan to a low, single digit interest rate. We recently moved to Copperopolis and we went to the Folsom branch to take care of some banking needs for myself and my wife. That was a 70 mile drive. I can tell you we will stick with PCU regardless of how far away we are for 2 simple reasons... Their programs and products are first class and their customer service is top notch. Jennifer was extremely helpful with my banking needs, but I especially appreciate her quality service for my wife. My wife has a hearing impairment. Adding to her difficulty is wearing masks which prevent her from seeing what people are saying, and you add in plexiglass partitions and it is quite challenging. It is something that often in public, because you can't see it, people may be impatient or they look down on my wife. This was not the case with Jennifer. She was patient, walked my wife thru everything and took care of her banking needs. My wife had consolidated all her banking now with PCU. When we left, Jennifer gave her her card and told her to call her or email her anytime with questions or if she needed any help. My wife left and as we sat in the car, she was so happy and relieved to have this taken care of. She was so happy. I think about how many times over the years all of us have experienced the cold indifferent attitude and or policies of "big banking". You are nothing to them, and they act as if they are doing you a favor keeping your money. PCU operates very differently. This attitude was true at our Walnut Creek branch as it was at this Folsom branch. Do yourself a favor and move your banking to PCU. You will thank your self for doing so... This review is long overdue. Several months ago, I refinanced my truck through Provident CU. Their service was very good and their rates were very competitive. Recently, I made a boat purchase which I handled through the Folsom location. Both the seller and myself were greeted in a friendly and helpful manner. Branch Manager Tammura Beaver personally called to inform me of my plight,she was very pleasant and professional while she explained that I had missed it by "that Much" Mrs Beaver also offered several ideas that if I were able to apply them I would be more than able to obtain the loan. My wife and I both switched from big national banks to Provident a couple of years ago because we were both tired of getting nickel and dimed for basic services and dealing with customer service that makes the DMV feel like Disneyland. Our experience at this Provident branch today was an example of everything this CU does right. After walking in with some questions about setting up a debit card for an upcoming international trip, we were helped by Emily Aquino. She patiently addressed all of our concerns and helped us each set up brand new travel accounts (for free.) Her service was personal, friendly, warm, and humorous while being efficient and highly professional. Most of all, she made sure she took care of everything we needed for our trip before we left while making us feel like actual human beings the whole time.
