My initial consultation was very clear, honest, and helpful. From there, I scheduled the surgery which took place in December. The procedure was quick, painless, and I healed up quickly. I am going back for a final graft later this year, and I wouldn't choose anyone else. I appreciate all of the staff and their help with filing insurance claims and walking me through the steps of this process. It was a breeze! I highly recommend Dr. Poore and his team.

When you read my true account of what happened, you will know why I have replaced it with this one. If it were possible, I would give him a NEGATIVE 5. Many months ago, I scheduled an appointment with him because I needed gum grafting on two teeth. My first appointment had to be canceled due to icy weather, so I rescheduled. The day before my then initial consultation, his office called to reschedule because he was not going to be in the office. First red flag, but I made another appointment. After seeing him, I felt confident in my decision (he was referred by my dentist) because he was very nice, took time to explain in detail the procedure, and he seemed to be a caring guy. Every member of his staff was also impressive. My grafting took place on March 9, 2023. In addition to the grafting of two teeth, I had another tooth with a receding gum, but he said it could not be grafted but he could do a "deep clean" on that tooth and I agreed. This appointment was on a Thursday. The script for pain meds was one I am allergic to but was told to take Benadryl with it and I would be fine. That was not the case, so I called his office the next day, which was Friday. Dr. Poore was supposed to be in that day, but was not, so I had to go the entire weekend in pain because he did not call in the prescription. Red flag number two. Nineteen days after the procedure (a Tuesday), I started having a slight pain in the tooth that he had done the deep cleaning on. Each day after, the pain got slightly worse. We were in a different state on vacation, so there was no way I could pop in to see him. By the time we got back home, it was Saturday evening and I was no longer able to chew as the tiniest amount of doing so sent me into orbit. Sunday morning, I called his office voicemail and got his personal cell number. We texted back and forth. He said he would work me in the following day, Monday, and he would assess, call in pain meds and antibiotics. I called his office at 8:15a.m. to see what time I could come in. I was told he WAS NOT coming in that day! Even with the pain meds I had, there was NO relief in my tooth abscess pain throughout the weekend and it was getting worse. In addition, my jaw was swelling up with infection and I could feel it spreading to my ear and throat. They rescheduled me for Wednesday. As I was in the worst pain of my life, I went to my dentist on Monday, and she had to pull the tooth. Now, this deep clean has cost me many days of horrendous pain, the loss of my tooth, time off work and life, and $5000 to have an implant. On Tuesday, I called to cancel my Wednesday appt. with Dr. P. Message not received, so they called me early Wed. to let me know that he WAS NOT going to be in! Are you kidding me?! To their knowledge, nothing had been done yet, but no matter, he was not going to be in the office to help me. Save yourself a ton of pain, money, and time. If you value any or all of these things, find another periodontist.

The hygienist was very thorough as she shared what she was doing as she worked, and I was very comfortable as she took excellent care. Xrays were from a top-of-the-line machine, and everything was very clean and looked brand new and quite expensive. The dentist looked over the films and announced that I needed five crowns, showing me two spots on two different teeth. I walked out in absolute shock, and my spouse staggered when I told him what the dentist had said. Considering most of my family needed dentures at 35 years old, I thought that my teeth would be in bad condition, but not that bad. My spouse's dentist has a more conservative approach in saving as much of the tooth as possible, and avoids using a crown unless absolutely necessary. This dentist is good if you like a, very strong approach toward your dental care and can afford to pay for that approach.

She has many other conditions, so I was worried they would be compounded, and in a panic I tried to find a dental office that would take her immediately, on a Friday afternoon, without an appointment. I learned after "Googling" and calling a dozen offices between Guthrie & Edmond, that many dental offices close at 3pm on Fridays or aren't open at all on this day. When I made this call I was pessimistic, but instead I was met with a professional, wonderfully kind voice on the other end, and at once, I felt this is the place. So, I mentioned the issue and urgency. The person on the line obviously had compassion and sensed the concern for my mother. She asked how soon we could be there. We made it in 30 minutes and all around, from the 1st phone call to the end of the visit , all the staff including the dentist, were absolutely, exceptionally, fantastic. The dentist even pointed out to my mother something numerous neurologists haven't been able to diagnose for her over several years of visits. Im beyond impressed and after moving here from Alaska, this will be my dentist. Thank you so much :)
