What a great, family-owned business with (we found out) TWO locations. We were looking all over NE Washington for an ATV. We went to a couple, local dealers only to find NONE in stock and it would be two months before we could get one on order. We even phoned two places in Spokane and NEITHER phoned us back to make a deal - we even told them we were ready to buy that same day. Along comes Protection Plus. We found them online, called the number on their site. The guy who answered said he was a mechanic, but would have a salesperson call us back. We hung up, fully expecting no call to come. We told ourselves the first place to call us back gets the deal. Protection Plus called us back in FIVE MINUTES. We drove to their Colville location, but were told the ATV was at the Deer Park store. The Colville folks phone ahead and the Deer Park store even stayed open late to wait for us. They had 3 ATVs and one was already spoken for. The other two were up for grabs, but another customer also expressed interest. We grabbed the one we wanted. It was the perfect quad for us. And they made us a great deal for the quad and a snow blade. Since then we've ordered parts and accessories with ease and all with great customer service. It's family-owned attention to the customer that makes Protection Plus a cut above the rest. Even after four hours, arriving home, we still hadn't heard from the other big-company dealers. Ordered a new grill for my truck with a winch, but I wanted two bars installed on the front of the grill to fill in the large gap there. Owner Randy LeCaire said his people could do that, no problem. He talked in great detail about how it would be done. I then talked to the man who was going to install them, and he had a completely different plan that involved drilling holes from the top and using spray paint to cover the install. When I went back in and told Randy this, he said, "That's not how we do it. They do what I tell them to do." Randy said they would install the two custom metal pieces using black plates so that spray painting wouldn't be required, adding that it creates a spot that will easily rust. He also said that they would drill from the bottom so that water won't come in from the top. I had a 1 p.m. appointment but when I arrived, their shop was full. They said it would take 2 hours. Twice I asked Randy how they were doing, that I had other things to do in town, and each time he said, "They're almost done with it. Just 15 minutes." At 4:45 p.m., they still weren't finished, so I went out to the shop to see what the problem was. I suspect they didn't start until 3. Parts of my truck were still on the ground, so they were not "almost done." Additionally, when I got a look at this "custom" job they did installing two metal bars, I was horrified. Scratches all over the grill, holes drilled from the top, and black spray paint all over it, about 6" worth. They did not use the spray-painted plates that Randy talked about, and it was Randy himself who told me that you don't want to paint it that way, because the paint peels off, leaving you suceptible to rust. And, when they drilled from the top, they only had one plastic grommet, and so the other was covered up with black tape. Seriously, a 13-year-old could have done a better, more detailed job. In his spare time. Sadly, I had already paid him, and the grill was already on my truck, so there was little to do except try to get him to install an undamaged grill on my pickup at a later date. To make matters worse, the person who installed the winch then got in my truck to pull it out--without using a plastic seat cover. My new $350 seat covers were covered with dirt and grime from the shop floor. You seriously don't have seat protectors? What kind of business is this? I called today--three weeks later, when he said he would call me two weeks ago--and asked when I should bring the truck in for the new grill. He refused that solution, saying, "You expect me to eat that cost?" It was his employee who damaged the grill, so I don't know why he thinks I should pay for it. I told him that I had already paid $1,600 for the grill and winch and I wasn't going to pay any more. He kept saying, "This is what you asked for." I said, "No Randy, I did NOT ask for your employee to damage my grill while installing two metal rods." He refused to install a new, undamaged grill on my pickup, saying instead that I had to come in and "talk to me face to face." He clearly wants me to spend more money, which I am not willing to do, and I told him so. I think $1,600 for a new grill and winch is already a lot of money. He says nothing is wrong with the grill. While I was on the phone with him trying to work it out, and while he had customers at the counter, he started banging the receiver down on the counter over and over again. He's essentially a child trapped in a grown man's body. Do NOT expect professionalism or integrity here. He does not know what those things are. I had Protection Plus add performance stripes to my Grand Prix years ago and was satisfied with their service so was surprised to see the one unfavorable review that popped up on Yelp. I just had them install a trailer hitch with wiring on my 2018 Jeep Compass. I appreciate the technician Brandon who offered friendly and professional assistance and did a good job of installation. After installation I noticed that my back-up camera was not working so I went back and the manager Travis crawled under the car and discovered that a connection was not fully seated, problem fixed. These people are the shadiest people to deal with so be ware and better yet, stay away! I went in to buy their highest end side by side, a Can Am defender limited. I told the salesman, John that I would want to put the purchase of the defender limited on my credit card as I like to get airline miles and that would be the only negotiation on price that I would ask for knowing that they pay a 4% fee to the credit card company as the salesman had already mentioned. I asked him if he could ask the owner, Randy, if he would be willing to do 18k on the cc and 15k by check. He went in the back, and a few minutes later came back and said they would be willing to do that. A few days later when I looked at my cc balance online I realized that I was over charged by $713. I thought it was an honest mistake because they had also taken a $500 deposit before I even came in, in order to bring the vehicle from another location. When I called them, they said it was the 4% charge and it must have been a misunderstanding between me and the salesman and they stand behind their salesman. I said; why did the salesman go ask the owner then?There would have been nothing to ask, as he didn't need approval from the boss to use the credit card machine so what was he asking for. They refuse to stand by their word, and when I ask them serious questions like why would John have to go ask to put 18k on the cc if I was going to pay the 4%, they go silent. They could only say that that was a charge from the credit card company and has nothing to do with them. They are horrible people to deal with and I'd recommend finding another place. Also, the owner refuses to deal with the situation and would never return my calls. Never met or spoke with Randy the owner even though he was there when I made the purchase and several times when I called. They are lame beyond reason! read more
