Wendy first met with me virtually to explain the process to me and to explain what I needed to bring to her office.

On March 2nd I went to Daniel Cullinane for a simple tax preparation. After waiting 2 weeks,…read moreDaniel Cullinane input my salary completely wrong on the tax return (it didn't remotely match the salary listed on my W2), also, he neglected to include my older son on the tax return. Another huge oversight. After listening to his doubletalk to try to explain away the mistakes, the revised return took another 5 days. Because I was already horrified by the incompetent service I had received, I just happily let it go at that and didn't complain about the remaining mistake on the return - that I wanted my tax refund direct-deposited and not mailed. On April 27th, 2015, I contacted the IRS to inquire about the tax return. There was no record of my ever having filed. I contacted Dan Cullinane to ask what the problem was. He said he'd have to get back to me. A few hours later, while I was out, he left me a voicemail message with more doubletalk basically saying that there was some additional icon he needed to click on or something in order to file. No apology or sincere explanation - just doubletalk. Bottom line, after waiting for the initial tax return which had 3 major errors, and then the revised return days later, Daniel Cullinane never actually filed my Federal tax return until almost two months after I initially visited his office and well after April 15th. His "service" cost me $325.

There indeed is a serious issue with attention to detail, even when it's supposed to benefit him. I decided to give him easy tasks first before committing to having him provide a full financial review of my company. These tasks were literally printing 941 documents and also providing a letter to accompany my contractors' 1099 forms where he had a chance to promote his own service and advise them on what items were taxable given our line of business. The letter itself was submitted 3 times with gross errors such as him switching one of the numbers in his own address as well as misspelling his email address. The final version of the document was not much better. Fine, whatever, I'm not hiring a language arts professional, I just need to him to do taxes and an audit. We discuss these concerns and the previous Yelp reviews for which he offered interesting stories in explanation of, then to retain me offers to handle my personal taxes for free. Then he sends me an invoice charging $100 for a botched letter and $100 a piece for a series of documents that he literally signed into QuickBooks and printed. Didn't even file them, left that up to me, then proceeded to now ask for $300 to file personal returns that he said initial said he would do for free. As the situation continued and his frustration grew, he would send me frequent and at times incoherent text messages asking for us to keep pushing to work together and seemed more unhinged with each message. Very professional. This experience was truly as messy as everyone else says it would be. This now makes 3 reviews from folks who don't know one another, but are saying the same exact thing. Save yourself the headache on this one.
