The entire project was to take 4 weeks and they were here for almost 5 months and just wanted to wrap things up. They also installed the tile in our back entry butting up to the wood floors, we told them how the door was going to be installed and the tile/wood was still installed incorrectly with the seam of the two showing when you close the door. The final straw was we needed to have 3 - 12x24 tiles replaced in our shower from an issue with our plumber, the quote from Melissa was $1200. When asked about the price we received the response, "Based on our experience in working insurance claim projects, what we have bid is easily within the bounds of what would be covered, so the plumber should have no problems with the claim." The $1200 was just for the removal/replacement of the 3 tiles and didn't include the tile that was needed. At that point we called it quits. The photos attached are of showers that have never been used, this is the final product.

At the initial install everything was great and we loved the final product. Not even two years…read morelater, the Blanco sink chipped at the bottom. When I went in, an older unpleasant gentleman that I spoke with said "what are you using a chainsaw". They said I would have to contact Blanco, which I did. Blanco said we should have been advised to use a metal grate to protect the finish on the sink. We were never told this. Blanco was very easy to deal with and they made it right by replacing the sink for free. However, Granite Shop was quite the opposite. They would not come to do this unless they had a job in the area, which took months. They also charged us for a reinstall in addition to us needing to get a plumber, again. They then damaged our newly refinished wood floors and accused us of lying about it, even though it was on our security cameras that nothing was placed on the floor when they were here. In fact, they removed our throw rug at the sink! I highly recommend them if you like a company that doesn't stand by the product they sell and accuse their customers of lying even with proof.

Sorry it's taken so long to write and thank you for our wonderful Midwest Rock Tops counter tops. We had them installed about a year ago and love it! The counter still looks as great as the day it was installed it. We were trying to do an economical remodel of our smallish kitchen and our counter top space was a little longer than the standard one-piece granite slab. We really didn't want a seam and then we stumbled upon Midwest Rock Tops. Brian was able to find a slab long enough which worked perfectly. When he came out to measure our kitchen he suggested used some pieces to make a matching top to a new half wall entering the kitchen and a shelf below the window which we would have never thought about. Short version: These guys were very knowledgeable, very helpful, and quick to respond. We had a…read moretough situation and they were up for the challenge. We love the way our hardwood floors look. They are worth the wait (booked 2-3 months out) Long version: We had water damage in our kitchen. We needed the damaged floor replaced and the rest of the first floor sanded and stained to match. No easy task since our floor was 17 years old. After they sanded, stained, and sealed the floor, we realized that the original builder (17 years ago) put a 2 foot by 10 foot strip of pink looking red oak in the middle of the white oak floorboards in the living room. This was imposible to see because of the tinted stain that was put on the floor to cover up the fact that the wood didn't match. Jon, our sales guy, came out on a Saturday to talk it over with us. They worked with us to squeeze us into their schedule despite being booked 3 months out. He even came and tore out the red oak himself since all of the other workers were tied up. They took out the red oak and put new white oak back in and now you can't tell at all. Honestly, I thought we were screwed. We did have to pay for them to come back to do it since it wasn't their screw up.

But Sergenian's crew was absolutely fantastic, every single step of the way! (5-stars isn't enough!) Starting with Russ' consultation, he is the epitome of professionalism, always being sure to not over-promise, or just agree to everything I say to make the sale. And when Kyle and Armando came to do the work, they continued with extremely specific discussions of the technique, timeline, expectations, etc. They worked diligently, with extreme consideration for my home, my dog, and fully discussing all of the steps along the way. Out-standing! And the quality of their work is A+ to boot. In this day and age, it is incredibly difficult to find contractors who are reliable, experts, diligent, considerate, and actually deliver on what they say. You are lucky if you get two of those qualities, but Russ, Kyle and Armando delivered in full in every single category; Outstanding! (Did I mention how nice all of the office staff was as well? They were; and efficient, too!) I have had an *extremely* mixed bag of experiences dealing with contractors here in Madison, from absolutely miserable schiesters I've been tempted to take to court to the very good ones who've been great and gotten the job done. I'd looked and talked with several other companies, always getting a "...yeah I think we can do something like that" vibe; not what you want to hear. But Sergenians was incredibly explicit about what can and cannot be done, and they might say "minimizing expectations," but in reality, the final floor is absolutely glorious, way BEYOND what I'd even hoped for!) Ok, time to stop the ramble, and I'm gonna go enjoy my new floors! (And in the photos I'm posting, it is hard to capture the rich black, because if you go "true" to color, it looks so dark you see no detail...but to see any detail, you have to brighten up, and they don't look like that. Such are the limitations of "standard" photography; HDR photos would be ideal. The takeaway point is that IN-PERSON, the floor looks SPECTACULAR! ...and yes, black floors will show dog hair, dust, etc., but a small price for the best looking floors ever!)

One thing I really appreciated was their array of companies, fabric, colors, information on content and environmental/allergen free choices. I was lucky to have Molly assist me because I was overwhelmed, not being someone who shops for carpet often. Molly found samples closer to what I wanted than I had found. I was stuck and she was patient and helpful, never pushy. I ended up choosing a large and fabulous area rug which Sergenians have several stacks of. Jacob was also very helpful finding runner choices for me.
