Opening its doors a couple of years ago in what used to be a mechanic shop (of some kind I think), prices are "thrift"! Not far from the Woodstock line on Rt 212 in Saugerties, Ray's Retro has heaps of 50s, 60s, 70s vintage clothes, bags and jewelry, etc- plus you're guaranteed to find the perfect vintage piece with your name on it! My daughter says I like wearing "loud" things. While I don't disagree, I love adding just a piece that pops to my minimalist look and Rayann's met me there. From the Gong bell entrance to what's inside, every corner here has something for you...that's of course- if you're into this kinda thing. And in the words of one of my favorite artists, "I'm gonna pop some tags. Only got twenty dollars in my pocket. I'm, I'm, I'm hunting, lookin for a come-up- This is f*cking awesome".

This small purple building is packed to the gills with second-hand clothing. And I mean literally packed. In some parts of the store, it's almost maze-like. The selection totally runs the gamut, from old jeans to lightly used children's clothes to crazy vintage pieces. On a trip there this past weekend, one friend found vintage Vivienne Westwood wedge sandals in great shape for $20. I found a fun little black dress for $10 and a pair of jeans for $6. Another friend found an awesome white tuxedo jacket with tails for $80, which he passed on in favor of the black sequined suit jacket for $20. Most of the prices are pretty fair. They're higher than, say, Salvation Army, but much cheaper than the vast majority of so-called vintage stores. You can also find a wide assortment of things like wigs, belts and VHS cassettes. The owner is an adorable little woman who's just as friendly as can be.

Mary & Jane are delightful docents of treasured, durable duds -- concierges of costumery -- presiding over a veritable mecca for dandies and flâneurs. Snarky, rude and poor customer care…read more There is a sales woman with brown long hair and light eyes who was unapologetically rude and ruined her own sale. My husband was carefully replacing a few socks that my daughter (3yo) had disturbed from their place on display. The saleswoman started to wave her hand frustratedly in my daughter's direction, while repeating "could she NOT! Could she NOT!" Lady, she's 3! And it was being refolded and replaced. I hope the owner knows that I walked OUT. I was planning on spending several hundreds of dollars but, because of that poor attitude, why would I support a brand that hires staff like that?!? When my husband told the woman that this was unacceptable and he was replacing the items to their original place and folding them, she proceeded to tell him to "get a grip sir!" Staff training on customer care is lacking and should immediately be addressed!
