The glass of Primitivo, the espresso, and the grappa that I had were also well received by me. Given all this, It is not surprising that the place was rather full on a Sunday evening. Pizza is very tasteful, cooked in the Wood Owen, and has a good choice of other Italian dishes, pasta in particular. Nice to try at lunch time, where prices go down a lot: any pizza, for example, would have a fixed price (6 Euros), a nice occasion to try the one with Parma ham!

We sat outside, so I cannot speak for the interior but I enjoyed the pleasant surroundings. The service was fast and simple, and they serve Paulaner/Hacker-Pschorr beers. We were in a vegetarian mood and decided for an veggie overload with the "Mediterran gebratenes Gemüse"(roasted zucchini, eggplants, fennel, mushrooms and radicchio with aioli and tomato/olive dips) and the 40-cm "Vegetariana" pizza with buffalo mozzarella, grilled eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, spinach, etc. For 2 people, we thought it was almost a bit too much, but that might perhaps be the fault of excessive amount of residual oil in both dishes. Aside from the greasiness, I must admit that the pizza is probably one of the best vegetarian pizzas that I've had in Munich. It was topped with so many vegetables of decent portions (i.e. not a couple pieces of mushrooms, peppers, and onions but whole slices of zucchinis and eggplants). Vegetarians shall eat well here.

We were not really greeted when we entered. The waitress (with the inflated monster lips - sorry, I'm a bitch! But she wasn't able to even smile at us once or even be a smidge friendly) looked at us, then at the several empty tables and told us we needed a reservation. Hm, maybe we were not schickimicki enough? So we decided to get two pizzas to go instead of eating at the high bar tables. All in all not impressed with the service and friendliness. Damn, I have been away from Bavaria for too long. I am too used to flaky friendly California dining experiences haha. Anyway... the pizza was all right. I wouldn't say it was the best pizza I ever ate. Prices were more than all right considering what we pay for pizza in the US (between € 10 and € 16 per pie that was enough for two people. We picked up pies a few more times for our visiting friends and they were always ok, but we never tried to dine in again.

Pizzeria Marinella has that "hole-in-the-wall" charm, with friendly, family-style service that makes you feel welcome right away. The prices are great. I had dinner with a LARGE mushroom pizza and San Pellegrino water for €22.50. And yes, like almost everywhere in Germany, the water was more expensive than the beer! It's not a fancy place, but it absolutely does the trick when you're looking for something easy, affordable, and enjoyable.
