I had Direct Auto Insurance when my car was wrecked by someone who wasn't on my policy. I filed a claim like any normal customer would... and instead of helping me, they added the guy who wrecked my car to my policy--without my permission. That's not a joke. I never authorized it, never requested it, and it took forever to get him removed. My assigned claims adjuster, Ray Bravo, called me once and then completely disappeared. I left several voicemails. Nothing. I even contacted his manager, Julian Patino, and left two more messages--still no reply. At that point, I was ghosted by my own insurance company. The craziest part? The other driver's insurance company (Crum & Forster) handled everything with more care and professionalism than Direct Auto ever did. I wasn't even their customer, and yet they got everything done quickly and respectfully. Meanwhile, Direct Auto left me to deal with a wrecked car, tow yard fees, and a hijacked insurance policy. I've since canceled and moved on. Cheap rates mean nothing when your insurance company won't even call you back and plays fast and loose with your policy.
