Title:
They added the guy who wrecked my car to my policy. No, seriously.

Where do I even begin?
I had Direct Auto Insurance when my car was wrecked by someone who wasn't on my policy. I filed a claim like any normal customer would... and instead of helping me, they added the guy who wrecked my car to my policy--without my permission. That's not a joke. I never authorized it, never requested it, and it took forever to get him removed.
My assigned claims adjuster, Ray Bravo, called me once and then completely disappeared. I left several voicemails. Nothing. I even contacted his manager, Julian Patino, and left two more messages--still no reply. At that point, I was ghosted by my own insurance company.
The craziest part? The other driver's insurance company (Crum & Forster) handled everything with more care and professionalism than Direct Auto ever did. I wasn't even their customer, and yet they got everything done quickly and respectfully.
Meanwhile, Direct Auto left me to deal with a wrecked car, tow yard fees, and a hijacked insurance policy. I've since canceled and moved on. Cheap rates mean nothing when your insurance company won't even call you back and plays fast and loose with your policy. read more
