Excellent Urgent Care Center! When my primary care physician was unable to see me, I was able to visit PromptMD without waiting. I called them up and was at the First Street location within 15 minutes. Dr. Metry was very kind and knowledgeable and prescribed me the appropriate medications to get rid of a chest infection. I did not feel rushed and she took her time to understand my issue. If you have an urgent care matter, definitely consider PromptMD! For the people who gave negative reviews, always check with your own insurance before visiting any doctor to make sure they are in-network. PromptMD was in network for me and I will go back if I have any other urgent care matter. read more

TURNED AWAY -- No equipment for basic care On April 26th I called ahead to confirm PromptMD Hoboken was open and accepting patients. I arrived with my daughter who had glass embedded in her finger from a broken screen protector. She was in pain and upset. We were told the facility did not have the equipment necessary to remove glass from a wound. We were turned away without any treatment. I was shocked. Removing a small foreign object from a finger is about as basic as urgent care gets. Their own website says they are "dedicated to providing swift and effective treatment for a wide range of urgent medical needs for patients of all ages." I had to take my distressed child to another facility and pay $250 out of pocket. I sent a formal letter requesting reimbursement, followed up directly with the CEO by email, and received no response to either communication in 14 days. I am sharing this so other families in Hoboken know to confirm not just that a facility is open -- but that they actually have the basic equipment to treat you when you get there. read more

Frightening experience with"Dr." Javed Islam at Hoboken Prompt MD on 1st Street. I had a minor irritation and itching on an area of my skin which I wanted him to look at. He was the doctor available at the time; this was my first time meeting him. He entered the office with bare hands, which is fine. Then he asked me to lift my article of clothing so he could see the itchy patch; no problem... He then proceeded to touch the inflamed area of my skin WITHOUT WEARING GLOVES AT ALL, which prompted me to abruptly ask him, "Can you please put on a pair of gloves?!" (Like for God's sake, what the heck year are we in?!! After everything everyone's been through with Covid etc! And God knows who and what your hands were on right before you touched me, let alone the bacteria-filled door knob!!) He finally grabbed a pair of gloves and put them on, after I asked him to. Then, after he looks at the itchy patch, he still has no idea what it is; he gives me three or four different options of what it could possibly be. Then he tells me he's going to prescribe an ointment for me to have it picked up at the pharmacy, which also never happened. The fact that the man did not even put on a pair of gloves before he touched the patient's body, should IN ITSELF be grounds to take away this man's medical license!!! I've gone to prompt md 4 to 5 times in the past year and have been told to come back the next day. The general practice on 11th and Washington Street is closed most of the time. The staff told me they don't have enough patients to open. This last time 4/21/22 I called the office at 5:30pm and they told me that there was a 45 minute wait. I decided to go there in person 1.5 hours before they close since the web site says to get there 1 hour before closing time. When I arrived there was no one in the waiting room. But again I was turned away. They didn't ask what was wrong with me. I could have had a serious issue. Let's also talk about my physical last year where they completely forgot to do an EKG. Now my father passed away at 42 from a heart attack. I'm sorry I will never go back to prompt md. read more

PromptMD feels pretty disorganized. When I came in to take my PCR test, no one was sanitizing the clipboards or pens that were available for all patients to use. Hand sanitizer was hidden behind the front desk when I asked to use it. I'm also still waiting on PCR results from July 14th (three weeks ago). I've called to check if my results came in a few times, and each time the receptionist says "let's get to the bottom of this" and "I'll call you back" but no one ever does. The doctor was nice, but I'd recommend getting tested elsewhere. read more

I took my 20 month old daughter to Prompt MD in Hoboken as she had a temperature for the 2nd time in a couple of months and her pediatrician is in the City. It was winter and Prompt MD is closer so I thought I'd be doing better for my daughter as she resolved the last temperate without issue so just wanted to get her checked out. We were seen by a Physician Assistant (PA) as no doctors were in the office at the time. This PA diagnosed my child with an ear infection and prescribed antibiotics. As a Doctor myself (in another specialty) I was not convinced so I took my daughter to our pediatrician anyway and she said there is no ear infection, there wasn't even redness in the ear at all, she should definitely not be taking antibiotics and that we should monitor her over the next few days. She self resolved within 2 days. I can understand that Doctors get things wrong, and so a PA can be more at risk of errors but to prescribe a child antibiotics at 20 months is a serious misdiagnosis, which can affect my daughters long term health. Dr Islam should be looking closely at the PA's he has on his license. On top of this, they billed me as out-of-network as the PA worked under the license of a Doctor who was not in my insurance's network, despite the center itself being in-network... very confusing I know but this is something I expect them to be experts at and to know but they gave me wrong information about my insurance and as a result I got a bill for over $100, for a misdiagnosis, by a PA, that if I had followed would have lead to my 20 month old daughter taking antibiotics for no reason, which does not need explaining as to why that is bad. I did speak with a customer support person about this bill and explained everything and they asked me to send in proof that the diagnosis was wrong, they dealt with it well but nothing got resolved. I still get $100+ invoices and have the Hoboken center telling me it's for an in-network deductable, whereas my insurance tells me it's because it was billed out of network due to the Doctor/State (I work in NY so there is some tricky stuff about which underlying plan covers me in NJ, don't ask me!). I am lucky enough to have a $0 in-network deductable on my plan and have spoken to my insurance so I understand where the bill came from, I just don't agree that I should be paying based on them giving me wrong information about my in-network status during my visit, a misdiagnosis and trying to get my 20 month old daughter to take antibiotics erroneously. Although all urgent cares are basically just as bad, this place has the most inefficient processes in place. You have to physically go into the urgent care and put yourself on a waitlist for a covid test. Only to then either wait there for 2-5 hours or go home and come back when they send you a text. Then you get there when they send you a text and have to wait another hour because apparently the system is "wrong". Also, everyone gets tested at the same priority for covid . Whether you have symptoms or not. There's Joe Shmoe waiting for a covid test so he can fly to Cancun, and then there's someone else with a fever that's sitting there dying and waiting and meanwhile Joe Shmoe gets to go in first. That makes zero sense. If we have to wear masks then there should be a better system in place. They should separate their covid test patients into symptomatic and asymptotic, and take those with symptoms first. Otherwise A. Those with actual Covid have to sit there and suffer in that gross office all day while they wait for a 5 second test . And B. They are exposing everyone by having everyone wait in the same area all day. read more

A family member that has been going there for years is constantly experiencing the worst attitude from Nicole, the receptionist, who is always extremely very rude and the most unprofessional and always hung up the phone without properly answering questions what demonstrates she is extremely unknowledgeable, inefficient and not prepared for the position. This "face" of the office reflects on the doctors and all employees what now makes me question the value of their business, basically unethical. Make sure to read the real reviews here and do yourself a favor, take your business elsewhere where people have the decency of treating their patients with respect and honesty. read more

I dislocated my shoulder and went in for help around 7PM, which is an hour before you close. They refused to take me because they said "we don't take anymore patients today because we are patients on the waitlist that are coming in" . WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK ???!!! I literally see at least 4 of you guys are outside chilling, and I just told you guys I dislocated my shoulder like 30 minutes ago and none of you guys can help me? This has nothing to with the doctors, I have not been there in a few years. Never had a problem with Dr. Islam, respectful and grateful as a professional. This has to do with his office staff. I got a call from his office with covid test results. One the staff member dismissively told me hi is ...... from prompt md. You covid test came back negative. Um, I have not taken a covid test, and riverside is closer to me if needed. She gave me information that was not mine. During a pandemic this is the last thing someone needs is this. Based on their website that reads "we take walk ins until 3 pm" I walked 30 minutes to get a Covid test due to over the night developed symptoms The girl at front desk totally disregarded me repeating herself three times "we still taking walk ins at 10.30 am" When confronted with their website she responded "I have no access to it to make changes " So, 62 years old female with Covid symptoms was sent out the door when there was not one patient on the waiting room and plenty of time until they closing hours . read more

I've been there three or four times and the service has been great every time. Since they first opened, I've had the bad luck of getting strep throat on two different occasions and a very bad sinus infection a third time. I am not the type of person who goes to the doctor unless I am REALLY sick, so they were life savers every time that I finally gave in. They hours are incredibly convenient, as they are usually open from 8am until late (8 or 9, I think), so they are perfect for people like me who work crazy hours. On top of that, the doctors are very nice guys. I only had a quick encounter with Dr. Jani, who was quiet, but very nice and helpful. Between the initial visits and follow-ups, I've spent a lot of time with Dr. Islam, who is a great guy. Very welcoming, good sense of humor, explains everything very well, and seems to really care about his patients. As other posters have noted, they do not take insurance, but, at the same time, they won't nickel and dime you either. When I was still feeling ill longer than I should have been, Dr. Islam insisted that I come in to see him again and didn't charge me a cent. PromptMD really fills a need in Hoboken and does a great job in the process! read more

Very kind staff from the front desk folks, to the nurses, to the doctors. It is very easy to walk in and see someone which is great news when thinking about this kind of place. It was a bit strange that the doctor diagnosed me without really checking me out (I saw Dr. Jani), but I guess my symptoms were classic enough for what was going on that he didn't need much time with me, this is what yielded the 4 stars instead of 5. I guess that's how they keep wait times down? I think the kindest thing they did was call 2 days after my appointment just to see how I was doing, what other doctor does that? Nice to see some human compassion in the medical world. If you have an issue, I definitely recommend going. They also seem to take most insurance providers. read more

Horrible experience. If you have a toddler definitely don't recommend coming here. I went there this morning with my 2 1/2 year old and she was diagnosed with a collarbone fracture. They didn't have a sling that's her size and told me that it's important I have her on a sling right away. To top that I was given reference of an orthopedist that they weren't sure would evaluate toddlers or children. So then what was the point of giving me one ? When I asked the lady at the reception ( the one with spectacles) if I could give my toddler a lollipop to calm her down she said that they don't give one till the end of their checkup . Just the way it was all handled , the way they spoke with my toddler has been an experience enough not to go back ever again. read more

Was seen at this Urgent Care while on vacation in July. The visit was billed erroneously as Family Practice visit (instead of Urgent Care), so it was declined by the Insurance. Ok this happens.....however after 2 calls to the office, and a written letter asking them to fix their error and rebill the Insurance, they failed to correct anything. Now I have been sent to COLLECTIONS for this bill!! Despite their assurances that everything was taken care of, the visit was now billed correctly....they obviously did nothing. the visit was Urgent Care, NOT Family Practice, as we do not live there and presented all the paperwork at the visit. I do not recommend this facility. I had a situation and saw the Dr. there. I paid my co-pay as expected. I was told the Dr. would call my prescription to the pharmacy. I waited at the pharmacy for over an hour. I had to have the pharmacist call the Dr. The Dr. then sent a prescription for a very expensive medication. I had specifically asked for a generic version, which was not prescribed. I paid for the medication as expected. I never received any further notice from the facility. I also received no notice from my health insurance provider, saying the facility had notified them of my visit. I received a letter from a collection agency, telling me I hadn't paid my bill to this facility in Hoboken. I had never received a bill from them. I always pay my bills promptly. I was surprised to hear they thought I hadn't paid. I feel this office is unprofessional, and I cannot understand why they did not send me a bill. I called their billing and took care of the payment. Too bad they couldn't have handled this correctly in the beginning. I will never visit this facility again. read more

I called the Hoboken location to inquire about whether they accept my insurance (Medicaid). I was told yes with no further questions and that I could walk in anytime. I took a half day of work, walked 45 minutes to get there only to be told they don't take my insurance. I went to PromptMD Urgent Care last Saturday and was extremely impressed with my visit. There wasn't much of a wait time. The front receptionist was great and the doctor was phenomenal. I was blown away by Dr. Holley's thorough care. He went above and beyond with helping me solve my medical issue which led to blood work that was taken by the PA seamlessly. I was notified about my lab results within two days and given follow up care that I have never received from my normal GP. Overall, I cannot explain how happy I am with PromptMD Urgent care- Hoboken. Found this office via Yelp. Exceeded expectations. I walked in without an appointment on a Tuesday afternoon and was seen within 15 minutes (including new patient paperwork). The staff was professional and personable. The facilities are excellent and clean. The doctor was lovely, accommodating, and completely addressed my illness. This location is inconvenient for me, but because of my experience I will definitely go out of the way to work with them in the future. read more

I've reviewed this place a few weeks ago with a complaint that I couldn't even get through their telephone line...I finally did and thought my problem was solved, but it was not. I am reviewing their billing department but this problem, from what I understand, stems from their location. LOOKED AT ANY BILLS YOU GET FROM THEM! I've gone in for 2 COVID test that were both billed as emergency visits to their office so my insurance won't cover them. I called about the first one, took over a week for their phone lines to work, just to get the number of the billing department, was waiting on hold for an hour and had a pleasant experience with the billing department, only they never actually resubmitted the claim and changed the coding. I go in for another COVID test, and the same thing happens. Why they are trying to pass this as a emergency visit so my insurance company doesn't pay and I do is beyond good business practices. Be weary of any bills and double check that they coded the visit correctly with your insurance. Five star for my in-person experience and the doctors but after two experiences that were the same, something is messed up in their system or something shady is going on. Just double check. God, I hate spending by lunch break on hold only to never get through... read more

Don't waste your time during the pandemic. I traveled a long way to get here at 7PM only for the receptionist to tell me that they stopped accepting patients at 10 AM that morning due to people wanting COVID tests and lining around the block that morning. She said to come back at 7 AM and stand in line for when they open at 8 AM. That literally defeats the purpose of being an Urgent Care and makes you no different than the other appointment clinics or emergency room. I was not there for COVID related issues. If COVID testing is causing you to shut down your entire facility at 10 AM, 2 hours after opening, such that people with regular urgent issues are completely shut out all day long, something is wrong with your management. You are no longer an Urgent care at that point and are violating your own mission and function. You should be scheduling COVID appointments, capping COVID walk-ins or blocking out just a portion of the day or the week for COVID testing. I can think of a million alternatives to telling people with urgent issues "Sorry for you" for 10 hours while you're supposed to be open, and your entire business model is walk-in care. You do not shut down your entire facility for all treatments because people are bum rushing in the morning for COVID testing. On top of that NONE of this was listed on their website, which I checked before traveling to get there. Their website specifically says no appointments necessary, come on in, open from 8 to 8. Not to mention, when I was there the place was completely empty. Just sloppy management. I came here after having an extremely bad experience with another urgent care hoping that the smaller independent one would be better, but instead I realize they are all the same, poorly managed cash grabs. So many people just opening up medical facilities for the quick cash and not putting any effort into good or even sensical management calls. You are better off going to one of the bigger chains that, after 2, almost 3, years of COVID, have at least figured out the logistics by now. read more

Not sure who these reviewers are who said they were turned away. I came in on 12/13 with what I thought was a broken foot. (Turned out I was right.) They saw me within ten minutes and I was in/out in an hour. They did turn away people for Covid testing because their appointments for testing were full, but for my urgent care situation they not only saw me, they took X-rays and gave me appropriate treatment including a boot and crutches. When I did my follow up w/ my podiatrist, he said that everything--diagnosis, treatment advice, even the quality of the films--was on the money. Would give 0 stars if I could. First off they have a giant sign out front saying the insurance they take, Aetna being one. I go in for a COVID test, I check in and then wait for 35 min. Finally it's my turn and they tell me THEY DON'T take Aetna .... so the girl goes you can pay out of pocket. I said ok how much? They asked for $150 co pay and then I'd be billed another $150 from the lab. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Terrible all around!! GO TO CITYMD!!! Excellent place to go when you need some quick general care. My normal doctor didn't have an appointment for two days. I ran here to deal with a sinus infection. In and out in under 30 minutes. Staff was friendly and attentive. Nurse was nice and the doctor was great. There's a pharmacy next door that is quick as. All hell. 10 minutes to fill 3 prescriptions. I was in and out in 20 minutes on a Wednesday morning. Was given a light physical by the young and savy tech who relayed the info to the doctor. A real jokester this guy was and I already felt better just sitting there. Took a test, and was out the door with a script. I was feeling great in under 3 days. I got slammed with a WICKED case of the flu just before the holidays. Not having yet found a doctor in the Hoboken area and being barely able to bring myself to an upright position, I needed a walk-in clinic STAT. Enter PromptMD. I was the only one in the waiting room when I arrived at about 1:30pm on a Tuesday after leaving work a bit early. I was seen by the doctor within about 15 minutes and was given a swab test to confirm the flu diagnosis. Five minutes later (after I was told it would take 15 for the test results to come back), I was leaving with a prescription for flu meds, cough syrup, and a lollipop and princess sticker as an award for "best dressed flu patient" I was lucky enough to have bestowed on me. I dropped about $150 here and plan to submit for reimbursement from my insurance. Yeah, that's a pain which is probably why I won't be back for regular medical visits but in a pinch, this spot is clutch. read more

One of my closest friends had offered me VIP suite access to the 9/11 Jay Z show, but I opted out because of a scratchy throat and fever. Come Saturday morning, I needed to find a doctor and also a real excuse as to why I would miss such a phenomenal concert. My general doctor is in upstate NY but, for the sake of convenience, I was looking for someone locally with Saturday hours, which was very difficult! I finally resorted to PromptMd, and Dr. Islam was incredibly kind, professional, and thorough. The office itself was clean and modern, and I learned that they had only recently opened. After my checkup, I was given a prescription for antibiotics and also a bill for $119 ($90 flat fee plus $20 extra for a test). Yikes! Turns out that PromptMd actually doesn't accept any health insurance but will give you the proper paperwork so you can file a claim. If you have coverage, the insurance/out-of-pocket payment factor is definitely something to keep in mind. In hindsight, I think a trip to the emergency room would have been cheaper for me. But I think you would be very lucky to find a doc in this region to give you the level of thorough, fast service that you get here on a busy, rainy Saturday morning. Plus I knew I was being stricken with illness as a punishment for missing out on a ridiculous show, so I needed to end the suffering ASAP. read more

Went to go get Covid testing because I'm severely ill and they were closed but the door was unlocked. She asked me "how did you get in?" Then I asked about openings for tomorrow and she rudely stated "it's Christmas"- I get it's the holidays.. but you're in the medical industry to help people. Not make them feel helpless. Dr. Jani saved my life. I went to Prompt MD after my (ex) primary care doctor wouldn't see me because we had the wrong insurance card with us. I thought I had a muscle strain; he was so concerned about the possibility of deep vein thrombosis that he personally got me into Hoboken Imaging at the very end of their day to check this out. Well, that's what it was, and it can be fatal if clots break off and get into the lungs, etc. So he sent me straight to the ER, where they found I was indeed getting clots in my lungs. If I hadn't known I could go to this place, and if Dr. Jani hadn't been so insistent that this get immediate diagnosis, I could very easily have been dead. read more
