I wanted private piano lessons for my girls to foster a love for music and introduce basic music…read moretheory education. After a brief conversation with Marcus he very quickly assigned Gavin as a good match for us and our schedule. It has been such a luxury to have someone come to our home for lessons. Gavin has been professional and so patient and made piano fun for the girls. They're not only learning how to read music but also learning to play root chords along with their favorite songs, which makes them want to practice and enjoy their new abilities. I wish my piano experience at a young age could have been like this. I couldn't recommend WMA more.

Our…read moreoldest child is obsessed with music and performance and what has made Westlake Music Academy stand out from other music schools we have been part of is not only their excellent instruction but the opportunity they provide to students in their school. No other music school in our area provides the opportunities Westlake Music Academy does from private lessons to summer camps to auditioning for speciality groups and bands to junior and senior battle of the bands, songwriting, theory, production, performance, and more. Students can really access so many facets of the music world from a young age and for our son who wants to pursue music as a career this has been such a blessing. How cool to actually get to practice and apply what you're learning while making other musician friends along the way. We are so thankful for Marcus and this music school. We highly recommend Westlake Music Academy!

I am super grateful for the singing lessons that I took through the Knauer Music School. While I…read morehave been singing my entire life, I sought out lessons because I knew I was capable of more. The good people at Knauer matched me with Emily Greene, who has been a phenomenal vocal instructor. I appreciate her knowledge, her passion for singing, her sense of humor, and her patience with a pupil who brought up the average age of her students by a decade or two. I recommend Knauer and Emily to anyone who wants to step up their game. And if you ever get a chance to hear the band I've joined, Run Screaming, be sure to say hello!

Best instructor ever!…read more Larry is a gifted teacher and coach, my all-time favorite drum instructor, and I've had several going back to my professional career in the 70's. I've been working with Larry since April 2015 and am now without question playing better than ever in my life. Of course it takes practice, but Larry's direction and constructive criticism make all the difference. A natural teacher, his enthusiasm, professional experience and technical knowledge allow him to get the best from his students. I've watched him motivate and instill confidence in elementary school students, showing the same commitment and passion that I've experienced. Larry plays professionally in all genres, is respected and recommended by the top professionals in Southern California, who also happen to be the top drummers on the planet. It is rare to find a great professional player who is also a great teacher. Larry is both, an accomplished player and teacher in multiple genres, Latin, Rock, R&B, Blues, Big Band, Jazz, Jazz Fusion, Drum Corp. He's is also an expert reader and has worked wonders with my sight-reading. Larry is a blast to work with. You will want to practice and will look forward to your lessons. Thank you Larry!

I am a private guitar and ukulele instructor in Thousand Oaks, and have been teaching in the Conejo…read moreValley for 18 years. I teach ukulele to little ones (ages 5 and up). When they are ready, we move on to guitar. Students study classical guitar along with pop/rock/country/folk genres. I have taught several graduates of the Children's Music Academy. When parents of preschoolers inquire about lessons or I determine a 5- 6 year old is not quite ready for private instrument instruction, I always refer to the Children's Music Academy. The reason: I have experienced the results of what this academy provides for children. I LOVE teaching graduates of the Children's Music Academy. They come to private lessons already knowing how to read standard notation along with a firm foundation in understanding rhythm. The also know the basics in how to paint music with color and dynamics. These students experience a seamless transition to private instrument instruction. The icing on the cake is the parents are already trained in the importance of their key role in the support of music instrument instruction. The parents easily embrace my requirement that they attend the lesson, are attentive, and monitor every practice session checking off all the required practice directives. These children thrive on their instruments because of the wonderful foundation they have received at the Children's Music Academy. Donna Zitzelberger Owner/Instructor www.kidsguitarcorner.com
