My hair had been getting ridiculously long for my standards, popped in on a Sunday…read more My first barber (I wasn't able to remember his name) wanted to try a different style on me compared to what I wanted, and it looked great. He was super kind, and professional. I was charged $40 due to it being a Sunday. He said that because he was trying something different on me, if I didn't like it and wanted it a bit shorter, I could come back within 48 hours and get it cut again at no extra charge. I thought was a great policy, I didn't think I would need to use it but my sister wanted my hair shorter for the Summer so I went back the next day after work and saw another man called Gio. Gio did an awesome job, shaved my sides down and got it a lot shorter like my sister wanted, it looked awesome as well as the first haircut. Gio did 10/10 job on the second haircut, attention to detail was perfect. Even put some wax in my hair and a hot towel for my face. Definitely coming back here.

BEN Scissorhands is a new haidresser in the Kelvin Grove Urban Village. Located in the heart of…read morethe QUT Kelvin Grove university campus, Ben's pricing caters well for students, with men's haircuts starting at $20. He also does women's haircuts/washes/foils etc, although I'm unsure of the pricing. From the outside, there is not much to be seen apart from some simple (and clever!) signage on the windows, however stepping inside, you'll find a very comfortable area that I believe was put together by Ben himself! Comfortable hairdressing chairs to sit in, and for those of you having a wash, Ben's wash basin is super comfortable too, supporting your head well and keeping pressure off your neck, which can be uncomfortable. Ben is super friendly, and very knowledgeable in all things hair related. You can show him photos of what you'd like, or explain it to him, and he will read your hair "qualities" and tell you if he thinks it would look good on you. I've had two completely differently styled haircuts from him, both excellent!

Everton Park Hair and Beauty is nestled in along South Pine Road, just next to Everton Plaza…read more The shop itself is very well presented and the girls are very friendly. I went to them when my hair was in dire straights and they worked something out for me and restored it to its former glory. Prices however, are quite expensive, but seem to be industry standard for hair cuts/colours in premium salons. They combine hair and beauty services to try and offer as much as possible in one place so you don't have to shop around. They also sell makeup and offer tanning services, which they advertise on Facebook. Although they don't have a website, you can find them on Facebook for more details about their services.

Visited this salon to have a haircut and lash extensions done partly because a friend goes there…read moreand was looking for a new stylist. The colour was OK but haircut seemed rushed and it was a very strange way she cut it. I have chin length curly hair and she basically pulled it all up to the top to cut it and there was virtually nothing else done except the cutting of a side fringe. I said I'd never had it cut like that before but the stylist went onto say that not many hairdressers know how to cut curly hair. Unfortunately she was one of them! The lashes were terrible. I have had them done at other places and knew good ones from bad. These were clumpy at the base and because of this they became tangled within a week. They were cheaper than other lash places I have been to but the quality wasn't there either. I will not be going back and would not personally recommend this salon.

I really do hate leaving negative reviews, however this place failed on such a monumental scale…read morethat 24 hours later I am actually in physical pain. I normally do my own mani/pedi and opted to get a pedi here as I was simply walking past and saw they had a $35 pedicure deal going and I am leaving on my second honeymoon tomorrow so I thought it would be perfect and save me some time. I was so, so wrong. I asked if gel polish would be extra and was told yes it is $10 more. That's fine it's worth it for polish that doesn't chip. I, like many other women love getting pampered from time to time, a manicure, pedicure, massage, etc... That's ME time, I want to be able to chill out. My nail tech came in with her (2? Year old) child and started doing my nails, the child was incredibly poorly behaved. She grabbed tools to do my nails from an OPEN autoclave bag, so who knows how many people those have been reused on. Her child constantly pulled on her arm while she was cutting back the edges of my toenail (which really didn't need doing, now it's probably going to get ingrown!) and proceeded to physically cut me. To which she just ignored that it had happened. Great, now I probably have HEP from your non sterile equipment. She then put my bleeding toe into the water before I could do anything about it. It wasn't a huge cut, but still my blood is all through their drains now and who knows how many other people they have done this to and given that they didn't even autoclave their equipment I highly doubt they clean out heir foot spa pumps. After cutting one toe the lady then started on my other foot. Her son scrambled onto the chair beside me and she told me to play with him. I really didn't want to be an asshole to a small child so I put down my phone and humoured him. But I'm sorry, why the hell am I PAYING to babysit your child?!??!!!! I am NOT a kid person, much less a kid person when they are grabby and obnoxious and shoving their mothers phone literally in my face! After that I then was directed to the nail station where the nail tech awkwardly painted my nails under the table while i rested my foot on her knee, personal space? While she we doing this her child grabbed two stools and began ramming them into each other across the entire length of the shop. As it was under the table and I was seriously pissed off and distracted I really couldn't see just how terrible of a job she had done until she was finished. The polish is patchy, not fully set in places and already coming off less than 24 hours later. To add insult to injury (literally) I was charge $50 after being quoted $45 as she claimed removing my existing polish was extra. "Sorry for not saying" yeah... Sure you are sorry. So I attempted to go for s run tonight before I leave for Hawaii and found after one Km that she had not filed the edges of my nails or painted the edge, so they were so sharp on the corners I now have blisters where the smaller toes sit beside the bigger ones, and where she cut my big toe open is swollen and incredibly sore. I guess my second honeymoon is going to be a no hiking experience. Thanks fashion nails, you cheap dishonest crooks.

For some reason I want the full service experience in a beauty salon, but as long as the prices are…read moreright I'm content with pretty much no customer service at all in a nail salon. Fashion Nails is a get in / get out nail salon experience. Due to the language barrier social chit chat is non existent, and the Chinese music videos that play on repeat are loud enough to discourage any even if you do speak Mandarin. The prices are good, the work is good, and from what I saw the place is fairly clean. I do always get freaked out by nail fungus in these places, however I didn't take any unwanted guests home with me so I'm assuming it's all OK.

Oh my GOD I love this salon!! Sorry to get over excited, but I have some serious hair issues that…read moreresult in me always wearing it pinned back and going 2yrs + without a hair cut. I'm pretty sure it dates back to when I was a child, a hair dresser decided my also curly haired sister and I needed side burns. Yes side burns. On little girls. Screw you 80's. Anyway, long term scarring aside, I find it difficult to trust again so I was pretty cautious when I first visited Crow Hair on the recommendation of a friend. To start with the space and the staff are gorgeous. Hilarious owner (who is great at hair if you can get in to his busy schedule) and delightful girls who all seem to be stylish and talented and good at making frumps like me feel good. They are also very complimentary of my curl and never mention the tide mark of old colour invariably found in my locks, which is super polite of them. I walked out with straight hair (free, done as a challenge by the owner and probably not my best look - I looked like the love child of a real estate agent and a news anchor) but when I wet my hair I was relieved to see a really sensitive cut that kept my length but lifted weight off so my curl had a chance to, well, curl. Lots of great advice (I had no idea permanent colours contributed to breakage) and the prices are VERY reasonable compared to city salons. I'll go back within a much more sensible time frame I promise.

I went in on Wednesday and they were able to fit me in for an hour later for a cut. All the seats seem to always be full though so I think I was just lucky. The price was fantastic and way less than I was expecting. My only problem is that my haircut is so good that now I am TOO cute and it's affecting my life because I have too much self confidence now so I think maybe next time I'm going to ask for something uglier. Thanks crowhair you are the best and I will be back in 8 weeks for me re-cute-ification.
