I have always wanted to visit the Enchanted Place of North Miami and tonight I finally did. They are open every night through December from 7 to 10 PM. Christmas light displays come and go but this one has been going strong for 36 years since it was founded in 1988 by Ken Digenova. The experience is free but they do collect donations for charity. You can drive through the decorated street in your car and turn around in the dead end of the cul-de-sac and head back out the street or walk through as I did. Note that the traffic gets quite backed up and you could be waiting awhile if you decide to drive. About a block away I found an abandoned house for sale and was able to park on the swale. This allowed me to get in and out quickly. This light display is simply magical. The real draw is all of the lights hanging overhead in the trees transporting you to a happy place. Thank you to the Enchanted Place of North Miami for bringing the community together year after year. Stop by if you can and share the joy with your family.

Again, the lights were nice enough to walk for. The drive, not so much as the lights are hard to see as inching behind the car ahead of you. I highly recommend parking and walking. It's much more enjoyable!

Checking out the Christmas lights every holiday season always brings me joy. A family home display…read morethat should not be missed is the Soflo Christmas house in Hollywood near the Seminole guitar hotel. The family who own the home moved there in 2001. Each year they added a bit more to their holiday decorations. In 2006 they purchased their first control box to synchronize the lights to music. The display grew and they have been featured in the Miami Herald, South Florida Sun Sentinel, and on television. The Soflo Christmas house is on a corner so it is decorated to the nines on two sides with 50 inflatables, decorations, Christmas trees, and 250,000 lights synchronized to music every 30 minutes on the half hour and hour. During part of the show the inflatables are deflated to better see the lights. Although the show is free, the family that runs it accepts donations for St. Vincent de Paul food for the poor. An honorable mention goes to the house directly across the street that has the spirit too with a ton of lights and a yard full of inflatables. Some empty racks and spaces around. This is a great place to get your costumes. I can understand why the place looks like this. If you haven't been to Spirits Holloween I would recommend to stop in. The best time to stop in is the beginning of October. Spirits gives you so many options and different kind of accessories to what ever costume you can imagine.

They suggested we use our budget dollars to enhance the rear of our house as we would be looking out back much more than facing front. So they suggested specific palms to light in back which maximized the entire effect for us to enjoy. It was interesting that their experience in designing holiday lighting led them to point out that we (as opposed to our neighbors and drive-bys) would only see the front lights as we drove up to the house and parked in the garage. A two minute enjoyment. By placing more off our budgeted dollars into rear lighting we got to enjoy hours of holiday lights every evening for hours on end. In 2024, we replicated the earlier designs, but added much more to the rear of our property. Their technicians are proficient, professional and fast. When some light bulb went out we were serviced within 24 hours (twice). This is a good family owned small business and we are beyond happy with their personal attention and service! They gave me a ballpark over the phone of $2k-$5k and said I may land somewhere in the middle of that based on what I wanted but that they would have to send someone in person to give me the quote. The estimator was professional, walked and measured the property and gave me a quote in the $3k range. Yes, this is an expensive service, but I also do not have the right equipment or motivation to climb a 20 foot ladder to decorate an equally tall tree, and their work is impeccable. Three young men came to do the job and were done in an hour. It is a bit of a splurge but well worth it.

The second instance was when I was looking at the yogurt aisle - a target team members were unloading the merchandise. I apologized but I wish that instead of letting me feel her presence and waited more than 5 seconds to move, she should have just asked me to move. I dont think I deserve the stare she gave for blocking the way because I honestly did not know! I think that because this Target location is so busy and seems like the store with heavy foot traffic. The store seems understaffed because besides the two encounters, I also noticed that the merchandise at the end panel still had the plastic which reads "remove bags for display" and yet almost 80% of the Owalas still had the bags in place! I also noticed that this store is behind the Christmas Clearance as most Christmas items are still ranging between 15-30% and select items at 50% while my store at home is already at 50-80%. Another thing - not sure if I missed it but I didn't see a travel sized/travel accessories/toiletries area. That would be nice to have if it's not available in that store!
