My partner and I are travelling artists, so our car, a 99 Ford Escort ZX2, is the lifeblood of our…read moreincome. We broke down outside San Antonio on our way to Fiesta, with a really BAD problem -- the timing belt was off and it sounded like the engine was making crunching and clanging sounds trying to start. The first two shops I called were quick to tell me (without even looking) that I probably would need a new engine. I wasn't convinced about that, but I thought sure we'd end up spending our entire week's income fixing it, or worse -- we even considered that we might have to sell the wheels off the car to pay for the engine fix. Fortunately we delayed towing it into "just any" shop until we met a guy on the Riverwalk who modded and raced cars for a hobby, and he recommended Gevers Transmission and Automotive, since they were capable of doing complete engine work and full-breakdown if necessary. The guys at Gevers gave us a super awesome deal on the diagnostic. In fact, we got to the shop about 20 minutes after the car got there, and they already had it apart and told me what was wrong! I could see the broken pulley and the shredded timing belt, and they quoted me an incredibly reasonable price to fix it. It was seriously HALF what I was afraid I would have to pay. The shop doesn't look like much, and since they just opened, I'm sure it'll look better later, but the important part is that they had it running in 2 days, and it sounds better than it has in months! I now have renewed confidence that we can drive the car for many thousand more miles! THANKS GEVERS TRANSMISSION AND AUTOMOTIVE!!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

I'll be adding documents shortly but initially I really liked Chris. He seemed like a decent person…read moreat first. I run a small car fleet and we worked out deals for oil services. It was until a few months ago i trusted him to repair my my ls430. It was super expensive but I trusted him. You can do the math, I zelled him an extra $1000 as cashApp wouldn't let me send anymore because the amount of money I was sending him was too much in a short time(together including the zelle transfer i spent over $6000). And my experience has been really awful. After all that money my car's main issues haven't been fixed. He swears that the main issues(camshaft position sensor didn't turn back on until the day I got it back). I don't know what to believe. Some of the money was also for suspension and the suspension I think so far is fine. Lastly he offered to do an engine replacement for $2100 because as he said "felt bad for me". Part of me wanted to say yes, I called him today and wanted to confirm with that it was final price and that I didn't want to pay more. And that until the vehicle was repaired I wanted to keep the yelp review at 3 stars. His answer was that he hung up on me and "didn't want to play games". I feel over charged, and quite honestly betrayed. Anyone that reads this review please make your own judgement. But I hope the texts and the money I paid for speaks for itself. My car now is iffy to drive after his "repairs". Thank you. Update Dec. 4 2025 In response to Chris's comment, I realized he's being extremely deceptive. He claims to be willing to swap my engine for $1200, this is blatantly false. I have evidence that he was going to charge me $2100. Please look at the photos I've uploaded. And as for the meth head comment he posted demonstrates how unhinged this supposedly "professional" mechanic is accusing others of being a meth head is extremely insulting. He lied about only charging me $1200 for the engine swap, he admits he that he couldn't fix my vehicle and still wanted to charge me for his shoddy repair attempt. Please take these things into account for his credibility. He accused me of being cheap, but what kind of cheap person would spend 6k on a car for repairs? I just wanted the repair done correctly and it wasn't. Please keep this in mind, I spent $6,000 for him alone and my car still isn't fixed. I'm a deeply unsatisfied and I feel like I've been taken advantage of. I urge you to look at the photos I've uploaded and make the decision yourself whether his shop is trust worthy.

When she tries to tell you this, she is told by the advisor that the people at AutoZone don't know anything. So, thinking you might make it right, she takes it back to you, for you to give her another estimate for another $1000.00 dollars to replace the rear heater core, something your first $3100.00 dollar estimate said you already replaced? When she asks about it, the responding text message says ,"Im sorry to hear that we will bring the car to the front for pickup". I don't even want to mention the fact that when asked about the upsale of the tune up, she declined, but the "repairs" were done anyway, and charged for, but i think that information is relevant to this cause. Also, how do you tell her you use only Mopar parts. "Dodge parts are more expensive, but that's what we use." and then give an estimate with aftermarket part numbers? I sure hope we don't have any trouble with the transmission in the future, as you had to remove it to change out a coolant hose. Lord only knows what excuse we'll get on that. All in all, I thought she finally found a place to trust with her vehicles, turns out we were way wrong! I do understand this was a moderately difficult job to do, and I do sympathize with that to an extent. I know what it is like to order parts and get them in damaged and have no control over that. The lack of professionalism and the feeling of her being taken advantage of is what I don't understand. Please enlighten me. Definitely don't recommend this place at all. If I could leave no stars I would. Don't bring your vehicle here, unless you want to buy everything twice and for twice what it should cost. To say all that, the job is paid for in full. No money is owed. We will not be returning to this facility, not even for a complimentary oil change/service.(That we were not offered.)
