Once we decided on a venue, the next step was to decide on a photographer. We'd received several recommendations from friends in south Florida as well as from our wedding venue. After having a chat with Andy and seeing her portfolio of work, we knew she was the one. We first met her in April 2014, when we went down to Coral Gables to handle some wedding business. We decided we wanted to take our engagement photos down there and thought it would be the perfect time to get to know Andy. Despite the epic heat, we were able to take hundreds of beautiful photos that we used to announce our upcoming wedding to friends and family. Fast forward to our wedding day, Andy and her assistant arrived and went right to work. They photographed every small detail of our day. When we saw our photos they were absolutely breathtaking and everyone commented on how they captured our special day perfectly. We just received our album and it is AMAZING! Their documentary style adds so much movement and feeling to photos, which is what we were hoping for as we didn't book any videography for our day. Like I said from the first call, "can all our wedding photos look like stills from a movie?" (and yes, turns out they very much can! And they're stunning!) From the start I feel Erika truly understood what we were going for: none of the old-fashioned, stuffy posed portraits we've taken at so many weddings in the past. Instead she captures people as they are, together, with their loved ones and acting authentically themselves. Even her posed shots feel vibrant and alive, and I love the mix of posed and candid photos we received. We still have pics with all the family members we wanted (like grandma), but so much of what we're seeing captures our guests experiencing this day with joy and laughter. Where do I start? Let me start by saying that my fiance (now my wife) and myself decided to jump…read morethe gun and get married sooner (waaaaay sooner) rather than later. I told her that she could pick everything she wanted for the wedding, except for the photographer and for the music we would be playing. I started scrambling looking for photographers with only 2 or 3 weeks notification. I must have seen over 40+ portfolios, and although to some, that may not seem like a whole lot, I was at work and I was scrutinizing every single aspect of what I saw. I saw Brett's pretty early in the process and I was impressed with his work so I sent him a message and kept searching. A couple of hours went by, and out of nowhere I receive a phone call. Now I usually don't answer phone calls from numbers I do not recognize, but I said hey it might be wedding related. To my surprise it was Brett himself. Brett decided to give me a call because he noticed how close my wedding was and wanted to chat to save time for me. This initial phone call was one of the deciding factors in going with Brett. We probably spoke for about 20 min before I had to abruptly cut the conversation, because a patient walked into my clinic (I am a nurse at a private wellness clinic). To be honest, I loved Brett's work from the moment I saw his portfolio, but I didn't immediately make the decision. Brett was so amazingly patient with me replying back to him (I take forever to reply while at work sometimes) and was very nice, courteous, respectful and professional the whole time. We decided to go with Brett and we could not have made a better decision. At the wedding he was amazing, I barely knew he was there during the ceremony taking some of the pictures he took. He coached us through every shot he took. He was patient with all of our friends and relatives wanting to take pictures. He arrives early and leaves a little later if you need him to. Brett is the right man for the job! To make a long post short, Brett's work to put it simply, is IMPECCABLE! You will not regret booking Brett! We are planning on getting married in a big church in the next couple of years and do a big wedding with all our family and friends and coworkers. And I will be having Brett shoot that wedding and any other event we may have in the future. Brett, how do you feel about flying to Colombia with us?

She was incredibly easy to work with, very thorough in asking our expectations of pictures, poses, family members, and my vision (links to my pinterest board too). She scoped out our location in advance and made helpful suggestions about natural lighting and doing a first look (which we hadn't considered before). She also suggested a fancy hanger for dress pictures which had completely slipped my mind in the billion things on my planning checklist. The day of she was early to scope everything out and worked with my maid of honor to take pictures of our home's decoration before guests arrived. The first look pictures still make me tear up in happiness at the look my husband gave me and I'm so glad they're forever captured. She did beautiful edits on my dress and solo pictures and kept my grumpy cat of a husband smiling and laughing even when he was very much done having his picture taken. I've gotten so many compliments on the photos and questions if they were taken at a country club, no one guessed it was a backyard. The ceremony photos captured us and our guests along with many family shots we'll cherish as we have family that infrequently visits from out of the country. The candid photos of guests enjoying the evening, drinking and dancing were the icing on the cake (and the cake pictures were great too!). Make the easy decision to have Rachel capture your special moments but know you'll have a hard decision later of which pictures to put in an album or on a wall because there will be so many amazing shots.
