I still planned to spend $1,000 and leave my number in case their plan to sell higher to the ignorant (or lucky) failed. Then they tried to raise the price of a book my teenage son wanted: my mental price quietly dropped. Then I found the machine stashed upstairs behind two narrow doors: My price dropped again. They told me the error code was because they booted it wrong. Nope. 3 strikes. I drove away with my hydraulic lift table, my wrenches, and my cash. I did not leave my number. They were not professionals.

That said, this is one of those rare gems where they offer true antique pieces at "regular folk" prices. The staff is both entertaining and knowledgeable. One of the most disappointing things that can happen at an auction is to have your heart set on a piece only to have the auction end prematurely due to time constraints. Hogansville is a lovely small town that I am partial to, as this is where I was born and raised. Having just moved back to the area from a location where fantastic auction houses abound, I wasn't too sure that my old hometown could hold a candle. They did just fine. Stop by if you get the chance. I really don't mind the competition. In fact, I kind of like it.
