I would highly recommend Primate Tree Care. The small business owners Matt, Justin, and their team were professional and knowledgeable throughout the process of having 2 large ash trees removed from a property we own. It was a tricky removal due to a narrow lot; they used a crane and removed both trees with precision. I don't think another tree company could have done any better of a job than they did with the removals in such a small space and narrow lot. I would hire them again and recommend their service. I never met or knew any of the owners or workers for this company prior to calling. I called for an estimate. Received it promptly. Had three large trees (Boxelder Trees) to remove. Two were right next to my Cedar Fence and the other on was over my neighbor's pool heater and pump. Watching them cut and rope off the large branches for soft landings was like watching a work of art being made. When I called the owner to discuss the miscommunication he was combative, insulting and screamed at me, even after I asked him to calm down 4 separate times. Please do not use this company. Based on my experience and reading others' reviews, if something goes wrong it will always be the customer's fault. Primate Tree Care cut down an entire trunk of our 30+ year old river birch tree, and they were not even supposed to touch the tree. They said my husband must have told the crew to cut this tree instead of four other dying trees that were supposed to be cut and weren't. They have no documentation to show this, and my husband did not even get home until the crew was cleaning up. My biggest disappointment is with how the owner has treated us. During one of his visits, I recorded our conversation on my cell phone because his tone and words were unimaginable. I told him he was being recorded and he continued to call me a "crazy lady". My family believes in supporting local businesses, but I am sorry to say we cannot endorse this company. read more

These guys have no idea of how they affect the surrounding neighborhood they are working in. All of us have had trees removed, and know this can be hard on the neighbors, but these guys take the prize for rudeness. They showed up at our neighbor's house to remove several trees early in the morning, and absolutely took over the entire cul-de-sac where we live. Between the chipper running all day, the chain saws and leaf blower noise, a crane, and our driveway completely blocked for several hours by their trucks and trailers, as well as stacking logs in front of and near our mailbox, we should have called the cops. Please don't ever show up in our neighborhood again; we will definitely file a complaint if this happens again. read more

If I could, I would give Primate Tree Care zero stars. I had them to my home for a second tree removal job as I was happy enough with the first job they did. Both times I dealt with Justin. The last time they were out they removed a large Ash tree in my front yard. I paid for them to take the tree down, clean up and disposal. They were supposed to come grind the stump a few months later, which I was fine with. The day they removed the tree it did begin to snow- but I have video of the ent process and they were literally here for 45 minutes. The snow started coming after they left. Fast forward to a few months and the snow melted (mind you when the job was completed there was hardly any snow- it all started after the job and so on. I couldn't believe the mess in my yard of sticks, there was grass missing in parts of my lawn and the equipment made marka on my drive. Since I dealt with Justin before, I called him to let him know (mind you I had called a few times and by the time he called back I had picked up large lawn bags from my yard and my neigh yard of sticks). I thought I was doing a nice service to let Justin know. He was extremely rude to me. I have video proof. He sent nasty texts to me (which I ref to answer after we spoke and he was so rude. I will never use this place again and would really recommend thinking twice before giving them your business. Very disappointed. I paid good money and they did not complete the job. read more

I hired Primate Tree care to cut down a river birch in the front yard, grind the stump, and remove the exposed roots from the base of the tree. I walked the job with the co-owner, Justin, personally, and accepted his bid without negotiation. Their company removed the tree 2 weeks later, and were paid in full on the spot. The stump grinding, and root removal was scheduled for a week later. 3 days prior to the scheduled date, a subcontractor arrived to do the work unannounced, and while my entire family was out of town. (that's right, Primate subcontracts all of their stump grinding. According to Justin, there is not enough money in that job, but he was proud to tell me they charge $500 an hour for their work). When I returned home, I noticed the work had been done, but there were still several exposed roots near the area where the stump was removed. I had a bill hanging on my door for the total amount due, with a note saying they were sorry, there were a lot of roots, and they did the best they could. The yard was torn up, it was a nice fall day, so I grabbed my pick ax and finished the job. I called Justin the next day informing him what had happened, and asked if they would take $100 off their bid. He immediately became rude and derogatory on the phone. He questioned my integrity, accused me of lying, and said he wanted proof of my work. I sent him before and after pictures, and he accused me of sending photos of work not agreed on even though you could clearly see the roots I removed, and the big pile of mulch that was left behind from the grinding. (that's right, they do not remove the mulch pile, even though it was never mentioned in the bid). I called the subcontractor directly. He was very professional, courteous, and apologetic that he was not able to finish the job. He mentioned that he doesn't always get the full scope of the job when he arrives on site. If he would have called, or arrived on the scheduled day, this would have all be avoided. As a true businessman, unlike Justin, we came to an agreement on the final price, and he was paid immediately. While I was on the phone with this contractor, I received a very rude, and threatening text from Justin. He again accused me of lying, acted like a bully, and threatened to sue me for even more than the job was bid out for even though his company was paid in full. I've never responded to his text, but felt it was necessary to share my review of their work. Take a look at 2 complaints on the Better Business Bureau regarding this company, and another bad review on this site, and you will see that this is a pattern of behavior for Justin. 4 complaints in the past year on these 2 sites alone is not just a coincidence regarding how he treats people. Primate is the name of this company, but it is also a term that could be used to describe Justin's behavior. Worst company I have ever hired in 30 years of owning a home! read more

I received a written bid from this company to remove a tree. On the day they were scheduled to arrive, they did not show. No calls or notes from them. I called them the following day and was told they would be out the next day. This went on for 2 more days. Finally 4 days later I called and left a message and texted them asking for an update, I received a text from one of the partners telling me to contact the other partner saying " he was supposed to call you" I left a message for the second partner and finally received a text back saying that to remove the tree they now wanted $300 more dollars. Written bids are not actually their bids apparently. Not a way to do business. read more

We had a number of large cottonwood trees and one smaller willow that we wanted removed from our backyard. Justin from Primate Tree came out the next day and was professional, courteous, listened to my concerns and answered all questions, he provided proof of insurance and a quote. Since this was going to be a significant cost, I had 5 other bids and Primate Tree was the lowest by a significant amount. I actually was hesitant solely based on the cheaper price and the lack of reviews on Yelp. How could they be hundreds cheaper compared to all the other companies? I did some more research online, BBB, other review sites and they were all positive. What the heck, I'll take a chance. And I'm very happy I went with them. They did an excellent job. They ended up bringing in a crane to do the heavy lifting. All together they were here for about 3 hours, which included cleanup, where they raked my yard, my neighbors yard and leaf blew my driveway for the sawdust from the chainsaw work. You could tell Matt and his crew were experienced, safe and professional.
