I am happy to say, Matt and Kelly lived up to my expectations. I was a difficult case to identify precisely where my symptoms were originating. My Neurologist had not diagnosed me prior to prescribing physical therapy. Matt developed a specific therapy for my symptoms, which worked on strengthening my core. After 20 sessions with Matt and Kelly, and performing their therapy routine at home (Kelly printed my full routine with easy to follow examples), I developed a significant increase in core strength. Just before my final session, my Neurologist received test results, that indicated a condition that could not be treated with physical therapy alone. So, although my symptoms remained, I am now in a good position for follow-up treatments with my Neurologist to address the root cause of my diagnosis, which will help my recovery time. Should I ever need physical therapy in the future (hoping I don't), I would request Athetico Shorewood, with Matt and Kelly as my therapists. Follow their recommendations, do the work and you will see the results.

Upon arrival to the clean and serene facility, I was greeted by the pleasant receptionist, Cindy. Cindy set me up with my first appointment and gave me the option of going to the Joliet or Plainfield clinic. I choose Plainfield since it was a straight shot from my home. I was scheduled with Dave, who was actually the owner!!! Can you believe that?! The owner actually provided me with care! That was a huge deal to me! No Big I's or little u's mindsets going on here! He was very friendly and very knowledgeable in his practice. Since my therapy was a lengthy 3 month period I was also able to work with Sarah, she's so cute and tiny-- but don't let that fool you!!! She's strong and makes her stuff!!! I also got to interact with Nolan in passing-- he does elite training. EVERYONE I encountered was very friendly, professional and knowledgable!!! Always managing staff shortages as therapists continually moved locations to cover shortages…read moreelsewhere which left me with different therapists too often. One PTA, whom treated me most often, did not focus treatment on anything other than massaging the tight muscles whereas the PT and other PTA's did other treatments as well. People did not know how to utilize one particular piece of equipment as three different people set it up three different ways and the person that did the set-up the best, was just trained to do it and also was a support staff person. Variation of treatment did not change much from day one to week 13. Way too much loud across the room personal conversations amongst employees, and therefore, did not feel they were focused on my treatment. Changed to another PT organization due to level of disappointment. Got a sharp pain in my neck after the first treatment session and never went away after 12 more sessions over a six-week period. Extremely disappointed as have had much better experience and results at a different ATI location 10 years ago, but as with all medical facilities, it appears ATI has been hit with the same corporate management attitude with focus on making money vs. servicing the patient.

I have 2 concerns which is the reason for four stars…read more My first concern is that because I was involved in a motor vehicle accident I am suddenly getting solicitation from lawyers. Every time I arrive for an appointment I'm asked if I need a lawyer. I consistently tell them that I do not. They insist that they did not share my information leading to the bombardment of lawyer solicitation sent to my house. However, I can see no other reason why I would be getting these lawyer solicitations. The accident did not even happen in Illinois yet I've been getting letters from the lawyers wanting my business from Illinois. Seems to be too coincidental. My second concern has to deal with a certified letter. Specifically a notice of lien by the doctor. I've come to find out it is a copy of the letter sent to the insurance companies. It would be nice if they included a cover letter to explain this. Beyond this, the staff is friendly and the doctors are helpful and professional.
