We had found our way to our hotel in the suburbs of Dresden, arriving there at dark. Being a few…read moremiles from the town center, we asked at our front desk what was close and open. The nice clerk gave us 2 names, and off we sat on foot. We had a map but not a very clear understanding of the walk ahead.
After a false step or two, we found Il Faro. A small neighborhood type place that was full of happy diners that smelled heavenly. Reaching our table, and me speaking no German, my companion said "I think he said we should order soon as the kitchen is about to close". She speaks fluent a German.......but not the German he spoke with a large Italian accent!
The food was fantastic. Very fragrant, fresh and delicious. The starter of melon with prosciutto was beyond a doubt the best I've had. Anywhere. If those ingredients were available and prepared that way, I'd have it nightly. It was that good. She had a vegetable soup. Maybe called minestrone, but not like either of us had had before. The vegetables were fresh, nicely cut up and I honestly felt like it was prepared just then for us. Wow.
If you can find your way here, I'm 100% sure you'll love it.
