I have multiple children at Prien Lake Elementary school and have been very pleased with their growth, teachers, and academic opportunities over the past 5 years. Each teacher that my children have had go above and beyond to encourage learning and use creative methods to engage the kids. If you are considering this school you should know that they use an accelerated curriculum. I have known quite a few families that moved into the area and had to spend a little extra time initially working with their children to stay with the quicker pace. We were in the same boat too. The French program is fantastic... but I didn't ever consider how my my kids would use their 2nd language (that my wife and I don't speak) to scheme against us . The kids spend 1/2 their day in a traditional class and then have Math, Science and Social Studies in French - by 2nd grade it is only French allowed in the classroom. The kids pick up the language so fast. No school is perfect. But, this school succeeds in having a solid administration, excellent teachers, and very involved parents. read more

I moved to this area hearing raving reviews and had a positive outlook enrolling my child. This has by far been the worst school he's attended. The 1st month we were there he had no graded papers. I told my son to ask the teacher when we get the graded homework back he told me the teacher told him it's my responsibility to grade his homework. My son came home crying because a teacher called him lazy. A teacher told me the little girl sitting next to him was responsible for showing my son the classroom procedures which my son expressed he needed better clarification but the teacher didn't have time for. My son was in the hospital for a month and I communicated with a counselor who then went on leave for the remainder of the year and I got ugly messages from the school secretary because the counselor didn't communicate with anyone else. Overall horrible experience. Lazy staff. & the 2 teachers assigned to my son did not appear to even like children, my son had 21 kids in his class. Horrible school.
