Sure enough, the shop is straight out of American Pickers, full of rust and patina--everything lovingly used. I had been desperately searching for a dark wooden cabinet with glass doors for the six months I've lived in Fayetteville, browsing craigslist every day and flea marketing on the weekends. I found one within 10 seconds of walking in the door of Back-N-The Day. For $40! I was ecstatic. The owner, who was friendly from the moment we walked through the door, gave me a good deal on a porcelain pitcher that I bought along with it by taking $5 off both items, and he helped us carry the cabinet to our car, even measuring to make sure it would fit for us. The shop houses stacks of furniture, old Pepsi and Coke machines and paraphernalia, gasoline collectibles, vintage art and frames, old tools and cookware, and bits of everything imaginable. It's quite a maze, and really invites those in search of a discovery.

Any items that you bring and they accept will give you 35% CASH BACK, while STORE CREDIT is 65% (personally I use store credit). There's always something good I find here and never leave the store empty. Price point for their items are reasonable unless you find more of the higher end brands at a higher price. Recently, I found 2 Urban Outfitter items and A New Day (Target) trench coat jacket for $8! Overall, Rumors is an awesome spot to buy thrifted items. My fiancé went into this store to look around for the 1st time. It was a cold day so I stayed in…read morethe car. When he returned he said, "It's REALLY good you didn't come with me into the store!" I asked what happened. He told me an unleashed aggressive dog was standing directly inside the entrance and loudly snarled and growled at him as he tried to enter the store. The female owner of the dog&store told him the dog was a "rescue" and that it didn't take a liking to men. I have documented allergies to dogs and also fear them for their unpredictable nature as what happened when he casually walked into the store. It's a shame because he probably would have bought me something warm to wear if the dog had not been there growling at him. Also, I only buy second hand from smoke&pet free homes/stores. *Message to management: I've never owned a clothing store, but I've worked at one. It's very important for customers to feel safe and welcomed when trying on clothes and window shopping. In what world is it considered civilized to have an unleashed, untrained and aggressive dog positioned at the head of the store? You are actively discriminating against men shopping at your store by bringing this dog to work. Men like to surprise their girlfriend or wife or mother with something nice to wear from time to time. If you don't have liability insurance for potential dog bites when a man enters your store it might be time to get some. Or, better yet, just install a modern security system and leave your aggressive dog at home or bring it to a shelter. You will be doing the city of Raleigh and it's citizens a favor.

I was on a road trip heading home to SC on I-95 and I love finding small family owned businesses. Dunn looks like such a great small town and this store appears in the heart of, what appears to be, downtown. there were so many different types of great things to chose from. furniture. baskets. lamps. toys. kitchen tools. the couple that owns it was there and they were so very friendly and you can tell they love what they do. I will definitely try to stop by on my next trip up and down I-95.
