For the area, the best place to shop. Clean, easy access, lots of selections available. Reasonable prices, seafood is good.

When we are desperate for the convenience we will buy some food from Price Chopper in Catskill. A pitty really. The pharmacy is the best around - seriously. The store selection is poor. The prices are high. Things you used to be able to get there you cannot anymore. Poorly staffed and most likely because of fewer shoppers. Never my first choice anymore. And ... The bathrooms are gross, disgusting and very smelly. They need to close this store and do a complete overhaul - seriously! IDK how Price Chopper keeps this place open. read more

We were having a BBQ, and so we obviously needed s'mores supplies. And we're not that bright, so we obviously forgot them until the last minute. We raced over to Price Chopper, and I said, "Man, I wish there was a s'mores aisle." And then the entire store went dark, and a single, fluorescent bulb shone down across the store, illuminating the s'mores aisle. Well, really it was a separate stand at the end of one of the aisles, but it was still a BBQ miracle. In this one, beautiful spot, they had the graham crackers; they had the chocolate; and they had the biggest marshmallows you've ever seen in your life. (We also picked up some Reese's peanut butter cups, because they're just better than regular old chocolate anyway. And corn on the cob, 'cause it was 6/$2.) And when we were checking out, the cashier smiled, answered my brother's inane questions, AND punched in her own card number, saving us $5 on a purchase of not even $20. Nice to know that when they pack groceries for pick up for folks that cannot go in that they take advantage. Ordered two pounds of ground beef to last the week and we were given meat the expires tomorrow!! You know the one they put out at 50% iff tomorrow... Not to mention it was 22.00 for 2lbs! This is a great store with great people. I recently tried the pick up program "powered by Instacart." I regularly do Shop Rite and Walmart pick ups, and love those services. BEWARE, the price listed on Price Chopper's website IS NOT the price you will be charged for your items. Instacart does not honor Price Plus bonus promotions. I ordered a bunch of stuff that should have been 1.00, but instead I was charged 1.29 - 1.49 (that's 30-50% more EACH item). STAY AWAY from INSTACART!!! Walmart and Shop Rite are awesome for pick up, and up-front about the costs. I was really hoping this service would be as good as the competitors...it isn't. read more

I normally shop the Catskill New York store but today turned around and went to the Saugerties store. I have a shoulder issue and am an older customer and can seldom find the shorter carts in Catskill, which are less painful for me to manage. Saugerties on the other hand has an abundance of them and always available because they do a much better job returning carts to the store. I feel the Saugerties store is better managed and more cognizant of problems older customers may have. I feel bad to have to give up mt favorite location and a larger store because of inefficient care of their shopping carts. read more

There is really not anything negative I can say about this place. It is always spotless inside, outside, and even behind the scenes, like in their meat cutting area (I looked in there...seriously). This is the supermarket chain in Upstate NY that neighbor Rachel Ray goes to solelyfor her custom-cut meats, but you need not be a celebrity to get the same treatment here at Price Chopper: They will cut your meats any way you want them - as well as season them (free of charge) from a variety of rubs to choose from. Even if you go with the pre-cut choices already in their butcher case, the variety is vast and the prices can't be beat. The same can be said for their full-service fresh fish station and deli department. And their produce section (with lots of organic) is equally impressive. The overall prices here are very reasonable, with weekly specials and coupon savings that make it even better. There was some local chatter a couple of years back, when a Wal-Mart opened directly across the street from this Price Chopper location, that customers might go shopping there instead for their groceries, but this store has not experienced a dip in sales whatsoever, attesting to the quality and personalized service available here that customers favor. They are also open 24hrs, which may not impress you if you're a NYC dweller like me, but in this town, they roll the sidewalks in at 5 pm (the only thing opened on Sundays up there is the church...oh, and that dreadful Walmart...bleh) so an all-night grocery store is practically a mirage. Price Chopper is also very community-minded and philanthropic, always the first to respond to the charitable needs of the town and county. They often sponsor community health fairs, school-related activities for children, sweepstakes, contests, and giveaways. They once held a very well publicized hotdog-eating contest that attracted large eaters from across the state, including The Hub, who eagerly signed up. I am...ahem...proud to say that, after following my husband in a groupie-like manner all summer long - complete with family and friends in tow - I watched him win every contest all the way up to the finals. So I am now officially the wife of the hotdog-eating champion of the Hudson Valley, thanks to Price Chopper. At least there were no beans involved. So shop at Price Chopper next time you're in Catskill. And go easy on the hotdogs. read more

This store has gone down hill and that's a way of putting it nicely. Last night I have two videos of the staff responsible for picking up the rugs not only talking on the phone during his job but shaking the rugs put under the produce all over the fresh produce throwing dirt and grit and who knows what else all over all the vegetables. I asked to speak to a manager about it and she was not concerned about it at all insisting that we should wash whatever we get and things like this happen all the time falling off the truck and so on. I'm sorry but what am I supposed to do pull each piece of my broccoli crowns apart to get the dirt and gravel out people walk on those rugs after stepping in fecies this is unacceptable. I will not give this poor excuse of a grocery store my business ever again am will be putting a call into the store manager over it. read more

I came up from South Carolina to visit relatives and my daughter took me to the Price Chopper in Catskill to pick up seafood. I asked for the king crab legs that were on sale and got snow crab clusters but was charged the full $9.99 per pound. If the people in your seafood department don't know the difference between the two they shouldn't be working there. read more

The only negative thing they always have sale items unavailable. Other than that they are a very clean store and the help is very helpful and courteous. read more
